Africa needs to stand up against this rubbish from the west. Why is my continent a dump ground for the rubbish the west sometimes makes and uses why??
This really kills the soul over and over again. I am a student, and in ma bookkeeping class, ma teacher brought up this topic. I cud feel her words piercing thru ma heart and that did hurt till now. how cud the governments allow such a mess to take place.

From Ghana and all other countries allowing this, these metals will follow a chain to a point of export to economies of production such as China. By the way the Belgians have a moral duty unto themselves so this is not about Africa. Who care's about Africa? Not even the Africans!
PooPeeScum: The problem started with u allowing them to ship hazardous waste from ur country to Ghana. If u simply stay in europe and have a wonderful life without worrying about those folks: Those folks will bring the problem back to you. We all have to be responsible for our world problems. We all live in it and we pass things around.
its called truth, integrity, being fair and impartial; something along the lines of objectivity...presumabely none of which you possess. He's nice enough to say "we"; it should have actualy been "they'. That's the problem with the black race. You can never criticize your own people. Thats why most of you walk in a straight line like fools following each other own a single path of self destruction.
Why can't the big computer companies start their own recycling? you should be able to trade in or trade up and then they have localized industry to take out the plastics.
thanks camera man for showing this misery, africans are to blame for their dumbness its time for them to grow for god sake, for how long they keep doing this to their own people mean so called governments .. on the other hand some of European campanies are hypocrites and unethical for their actions..
Many culprits here: First is the humans who procreate without the ability to care and provide for their offspring! 2nd: the Capitalist minority that benefits from this type of situation and 3rd but not last the Africans themselves that allow their country to be robbed then after turned in to a cesspool! Shame On Africa that is my word. If you let your house become a toilet don't expect shit to not fall in and pile up in it! I'm a Black Man From the west so no one comment about racism got it!
such a sad story. I knew there where going a lot of ships from my country to ghana and other african country's, but didn't knew they threw such junk on it. I so hope I can trust my appliance store not to do this with my old stuff. But how can I know for sure? ...
It is sad what we are doing to the the planet, but we all humans are responsible in the chain we all created. No human is apart from the modern world, we have the choice to stop or continue the process that seems the opposite of our evolution as rational animals. probably is the same nature which decide to make us destroy ourselves as an error of evolution that doesn't work. We are natures most ambitious project, but maybe too much out of control.
This concept is known as "economic development at the expense of the environment". Just like how developing nations cut down forests to make way for industry and when they finally achieved their econ status, restore those forests with the financial resources they have. It's like borrowing money from your env. But here the country receiving this waste is getting paid directly while making environmental. debt, difference is that they won't be making any major income to restore it anytime soon.
in 1820 a man named fredrick osloft one day he was working in his lab until a ghost came by and killed him the next morning fredrick was nowhere to be seen 100 years later two boys went in the lab as a dare the boys where never seen again where aparently murdered now that u have read this comment tonight when u go to sleep the two boys and fredrick will come and murder you but you can stop this by posting this comment on 5 other videos
This is very shocking. The white man is doing the same shit in Somalia. Our 'leaders' should be blamed for this disastor. Our 'leaders' have let us down big time.
Ugh I wish this guy would have shown the rest of the city so that people wouldnt have thought that this vid represents the whole thing... when in truth it doesnt represent the city or even the majority of the people there
Hum..he showed a portion of the same area ,there was 2 white girls from the US sunbathing just 2 Km away from the actual polluted spot. they knew nothing about it.Its not even the entire region that is affected.Pay attention buddy.
I saw that... I said before that, that I've been there. In fact the day i drove past that exact spot the 29th of december 2008. So the point of my post is more addressing the people who are making comments like ghana is the worst place to live, and Accra is some giant slum where people need to pick out of garbage to live... Avcomth is exactly right...
What you're saying is almost metaphoric: "just 2 km away [...] they knew nothing about it". That's where the cookie actually crumbles !! They "step away" from the problem, ok it's 2 km away so I don't care. Yet they might already inhale the toxic air which doesn't care about "km".
hum..I actually researched this by actually living in an area where they dumped a similar shit.I figured at one point that they would not dump it in the middle of the market but not too far way either. They will not approach the beach either, and they know 2km is far when you are just there sunbathing.either way it is wrong.
if you visit people's houses they are squciky clean inside you'll be dumbfounded that the irony of this whole thing.
Possibly but remember that pipe in the film (almost a symbol for horror). Things must go like this: those gallons of toxic stuff get eventually washed into the sea, and EVEN 2 km away at the beach at least part of the water will be contaminated also. Yes, also the water where they bathe. They don't drink it; nor is it good for their skin, though...:-/
you cannot be serious. how does anybody deserve this treatment?! ghanaians may be ignorant for this environmental aspect but this is on a minorty of people who are and this is only one part of ghana. have you seen the country before i guess not! you're the ignorant one!! as a ghanaian myself i am saddened by this whole situation NOBODY is happy with this 'mess' nobody ever wishes for somthing like this. stop being an ass
lol.. life? life well won't exist with out poor people... the food you eat come from the poor so deal with it your just a nother person in the chain to make more money, steal from the poor for the rich you happen to be the middle guy..
No one derserves any poor treatment, In this world many are educated many are not, and few of those who are educated make a significance in this world. Who in their right mind will be happy in mess? you? certainly not!!! As for stomachs being priority, would you rather them starve or live on handouts???
Your right they deserve it just like they deserve aids. Dumbass niggers deserve everything they got coming for there civil right movement and there miscegenation with white woman. I only hope Obama gets cancer.
algeria sits at the 92th place of the most corrupt countries in the world, this number hasn't changed since 2005. Ghana's economy is actually better then that of Algeria the facts are online for you to see, pull them up .Algeria has 28 Billion of dollar in foreign debt. Of course we know what Algerians are skilled at. Drink some desert tea for now lol!
They arent ignorant, they read books, you know a lot of developed countries show america as being a country full of gun toating uneducated hicks on their T.V stations or when they make jokes. Americans know that isnt true but how are the people who have never been there supposed to know, you can say with common sense... But look at the comment you just made.
but do u really have to point out obvioous truth with showing interviews in front of some kids burning a fridge without explaining why the fridge is burned in ghana, and showing a man who is telling us that a 3 year old is collecting scrap, the topic would be presented in a much more objective way without this little show /offs .
i hope u understand what i want to say, dont put topics on like in a boulevard paper, spare the shit
Thanks for posting this. Unbelievable shit. The journalists in this report are heroes, not the poor devils who joined the army to get slaughtered in Afghanistan & Iraq. These poor people in Ghana might seem foolish because of their unbelievable ignorance to us, but - really - are Americans, especially blacks, who believe Obama is a saviour, or Italians who vote for Berlusconi any better? There's nothing worse than ignorance, except living in Ghana or being a US tourist, from the look of this
I dont know if they ever said where they were exactly in this video, but I know exactly where they were because i've been there. The polution in that area is pretty bad,(the smell of the outlet of that river is other worldly putrid in lowtide) but has more to do with the culture of the 40 thousand or so living in that section of the city.. The main urban center for the entire country is located right next to that massive slum witch extends a couple miles long but the width is probably 4-5 miles.
The problem with the pollution and the slum is that the people there dont want to move because technically they own the land and many of which are decendents of the original village that was once there, even tho the slum is full of shanty towns, delapitaded buildings and garbage the people living there continue on with their life.
The government as well as private companies have tried to bribe people there to leave, but I think the problem is they are so poor that communication between them as a group is pretty bad. So it probably doesnt really get out, or they just dont trust the government, or its just pride. The developed parts of the city are beautiful, But if anything dont worry it will change. The amount of development there within the last 20 years is jaw dropping.
Another problem is the outlandish pricing of goods at retail stores,I'm not sure the exact reason is for that, because it is not expensive ship bulk to ghana. I mostly just blame greed on the owners part. This in turn makes it easier for second hand shops to make a profit, beleive me you can find almost anything at these shops.*your going to have to forgive me* but at times the second hand shops and peddlers are more than convenient. But because of this, the problem you just viewed is created.
What cannoir said about the bribes and the wages is totally true, that is how stuff like what you see is "allowed" to happen.
Also one thing i wanted to note is that the 1U.S dollar is equal to around 1.20cedis, prices are generally the same there for goods. people saying things like 10,000 cedis is actually outdated currency. But it was only recently(last couple years) converted(basically taking the 0s off to make things simpler)...
Accra is a quickly developing city, mostly because it is the capital of ghana. Many parts of it are fully developed including the entire area surrounding that slum in the video. Like i said i've been there, just once, because it was quicker to drive through there to get to another part of the city the one day i was there. I dont live in accra but half my extended family does I live in the U.S, but my imediate family has a house there. It really is a nice place and I enjoy it when i'm there.
Blame african governments and stupid african people who want to make money at the expense of their land and their people .. FUCK YOU ALL and besides im an african too.. i wouldnt trade on such things WAKE UP AFRICA !!!! IS YOUR PEOPLE AND YOUR CONTINET
Hum..Like I said it is a mere handful of people who actually rule the western part of Africa. You can't just say "Africa" like its some big ass country. If you paid attention enough, the locals actually think the waste will just "disappear", sadly it won't and their bodies are not going to digest the shit. The teenager had no idea what cancer.when ghanaian minister earn 500USD a month officially, yet their children attend harvard univ and go to the finest places.that's what we have a problem with
yeah i said Africa , the whole continent is pretty much the same , corruption, disease, poverty, wars and the list go on . like i said im an african too, AFRICANS cant organise themselves, we hate laws, and we live a sub human life .. in our own rich , contintinet....
lol.SOUTH AFRICA WAS DEVELOPED BY THE WHITES now is is int the hands of black ppl just wait and see....to be honest black people are living in slums, they are thugs, killers, rapist and what we saw on tv last june was the worst thing africans wanted to see, xenophobic... killing and burning your own black people... i just wish FIFA changes it is decision... and i think apethied was the best shit ever
yes it may be true that south Africa was developed by the whites
how ever our democracy is now 15years old. and as every teenager we have some issues last year was terrible. However we still live side by side with our african brothers and sisters everyday.
Thugs, rapists not every black man.
U rite apethied was good. It made our pple stronger smarter & thats y we continue 2 grow & hosting the worldcup just shows what we capable of. Get a life
South Africa has helped many African countries with all sorts of stuff.
Half of Zim stays within our country.
Slumbs true however these are being transformed everyday new houses are being built.
We have dollar billionaires that are black
we have black people working together with whites everyday. Dude south africa has issues but we trying and the rest of africa can learn from us. there r african states who have been free longer than us still we the bread bin of africa.
same shit with the pirates who were stopping such asses from polluting their oceans with toxic nuclear waste, the good thing is,all those that praised the brainwashed nazy, will soon be eating those toxins, when theoceanic currents and tides transports these waste to their oceans, they will get fucked by their own ignorance.
I'm appauled at the negative image they've given ghana, so typical of western media.... only interested in highlighting the negative aspects of african countries. That belgian guy should go home!
Ur ignorant and dellusional. Ur an example of the majority. How quick can any of these European country destablize Africa. Its these programs which would awaken those in Europe to demand corporate/ government responsibility in terms of proper waste management.
This leads to internal strife within the populos. Anger/hatred for the government breeding revolt. A people push to its limit will push back. Africa is breeding ground for political instability.
It's a terrible shame that so few people will ever watch this video and that most people in the wastern world won't know this is happening... But then i wonder if they even want to know, and if they did, would they really care?
The African journalist in this video is a very well educated man, his work and efforts are amazing.
u wanna do something? so do i.. depends wat u wanna do, but whatever action we take we need to work out HOW to fix the problem first... thats a big question......
:(, maybe big countries should stop going to war, and spend the money on fixing this kind of issues, one country at a time? Its a good alternative right?... help each other rather that obliterate each other lmao.. If only we could fix these.. :(
Repeatedly, we hear from the children and peoples, that their plight is finding enough food. Access to good land, some seeds & instruction of permaculture will put them back in touch with the land. Lead them away from aspiring to the babylons of the west.
since they are no garbage pickups burning is usual where i use to live we did the same but not with electronic waste but it was done so that the trash would always have that one place rather than being all around us everywhere
Man, this is what you stupid Americans dont understand. The reason why pirates emerge from africa is because we keep dumping our waste into there fuckin land.
We rescue ships from transporting containers with e-waste into Africas shores... Sickening!
Excellent video, very informative and some good camera work.
I bet those kids have tons of cuts and scrapes all over their hands and arms. I have torn apart some computers and other electronics and I know that it is very hard to avoid cutting yourself on the plastic edges of bits of metal.
This is what happen when a government don't gives a flying fuck about their own people. When African leaders will start caring for their own people, this situation will end.
its not that simple, african "leaders" get backing if they are known to do whatever european and US companies want, while the potential responsible real leaders get no backing and end up being marginalized and never work in government.
It drives me crazy to see people simply point at the "dumb africans" for their own hardships when its foreign interference that is the root of the problem.
In this very case, the people who are letting the Africans down is not the Europeans but the very African leaders who are taking the poison in exchange of money.
it is so easy to be manipulated if you are uneducated. Seeing African leaders preying on an ignorant nation is shameful yet they are the reason why Africa is still next to stone age.
Where is the likes of Nelson Mandela when you need them?
nasty : ( but I think they need waste to eat..its an industry....without it they might starve....its like die now from starvation or die later from cancer.....the world is a f"ed up place
You shouldnt feel digusted. Its as much their fault as ours, if a countries government is willing to turn a blind eye and the population are living off it? Humans in general are a strange breed. If you feel strongly about a subject do something regarding that subject. But dont be disgusted of who you are and where you come from lifes too short.
[83] That the land, which ye enter into to possess as an heritage, is a land polluted with the pollutions of the strangers of the land, and they have filled it with their uncleanness.
Why don't they just tell them to stop dumping the fucking waste? How fucking hard it is? Tell the government to stop signing deals with them. This is why Africa is fucked.
hum..ghana's not the only country ,the exact same radioactive shit has been dumped in the east side of ivory coast.I died the day i heard some official took bribe money despite the fact that 128 people died within weeks from food poisoning. the entire world is alarmed when 12 people die of swine flu but nobody heard about what happened in ivory coast because the officials on both ends worked overtime to cover it up.when you are down there you keep quite because you fear for your own life
Yes its evil sinister, that corporations dumb down an already brain-dead American public that for example, WONT read subtitles in a video on Toxic ewaste being dumped in desparate countries.
I subbed to this channel b/c I am concerned and dont swallow anything without crtical thinking.Swine flu is not a threat, FEAR is.E waste , extortion, profiteering, soon maybe a false flag somewhere...Children untimately are murdered this way...very sad.
corporate greed is much more toxic then we think profit's fine but greed is evil. They do not care as long as the waste is far from their homes and sadly their local accomplices use the exact same logic. The various gov. we have had still haven't implemented the hard "green" fine or at least force the companies to process half of their waste.what aggravated me was when i saw that raw toxic shit come out the huge pipe.I mean they didn't even bother dry the shit and wrap it up, at least hide it.
We should bring this recycling industry to Detroit and restart there economy! :)

its called truth, integrity, being fair and impartial; something along the lines of objectivity...presumabely none of which you possess. He's nice enough to say "we"; it should have actualy been "they'. That's the problem with the black race. You can never criticize your own people. Thats why most of you walk in a straight line like fools following each other own a single path of self destruction.

TheArchbishopSBC 2 years ago
Hum..he showed a portion of the same area ,there was 2 white girls from the US sunbathing just 2 Km away from the actual polluted spot. they knew nothing about it.Its not even the entire region that is affected.Pay attention buddy.
cannoir 2 years ago
I saw that... I said before that, that I've been there. In fact the day i drove past that exact spot the 29th of december 2008. So the point of my post is more addressing the people who are making comments like ghana is the worst place to live, and Accra is some giant slum where people need to pick out of garbage to live... Avcomth is exactly right...
TheArchbishopSBC 2 years ago
What you're saying is almost metaphoric: "just 2 km away [...] they knew nothing about it". That's where the cookie actually crumbles !! They "step away" from the problem, ok it's 2 km away so I don't care. Yet they might already inhale the toxic air which doesn't care about "km".
pianoman74 2 years ago
hum..I actually researched this by actually living in an area where they dumped a similar shit.I figured at one point that they would not dump it in the middle of the market but not too far way either. They will not approach the beach either, and they know 2km is far when you are just there sunbathing.either way it is wrong.
if you visit people's houses they are squciky clean inside you'll be dumbfounded that the irony of this whole thing.
cannoir 2 years ago
Possibly but remember that pipe in the film (almost a symbol for horror). Things must go like this: those gallons of toxic stuff get eventually washed into the sea, and EVEN 2 km away at the beach at least part of the water will be contaminated also. Yes, also the water where they bathe. They don't drink it; nor is it good for their skin, though...:-/

They arent ignorant, they read books, you know a lot of developed countries show america as being a country full of gun toating uneducated hicks on their T.V stations or when they make jokes. i luv journeyman.
but do u really have to point out obvioous truth with showing interviews in front of some kids burning a fridge without explaining why the fridge is burned in ghana, and showing a man who is telling us that a 3 year old is collecting scrap, the topic would be presented in a much more objective way without this little show /offs .
i hope u understand what i want to say, dont put topics on like in a boulevard paper, spare the shit

There's nothing worse than ignorance, except living in Ghana or being a US tourist, from the look of this
kidcalabria 2 years ago
I dont know if they ever said where they were exactly in this video, but I know exactly where they were because i've been there. The polution in that area is pretty bad,(the smell of the outlet of that river is other worldly putrid in lowtide) but has more to do with the culture of the 40 thousand or so living in that section of the city.. The main urban center for the entire country is located right next to that massive slum witch extends a couple miles long but the width is probably 4-5 miles.
TheArchbishopSBC 2 years ago
The problem with the pollution and the slum is that the people there dont want to move because technically they own the land and many of which are decendents of the original village that was once there, even tho the slum is full of shanty towns, delapitaded buildings and garbage the people living there continue on with their life.
TheArchbishopSBC 2 years ago
The government as well as private companies have tried to bribe people there to leave, but I think the problem is they are so poor that communication between them as a group is pretty bad. So it probably doesnt really get out, or they just dont trust the government, or its just pride. The developed parts of the city are beautiful, But if anything dont worry it will change. The amount of development there within the last 20 years is jaw dropping.
TheArchbishopSBC 2 years ago
Another problem is the outlandish pricing of goods at retail stores,I'm not sure the exact reason is for that, because it is not expensive ship bulk to ghana. I mostly just blame greed on the owners part. This in turn makes it easier for second hand shops to make a profit, beleive me you can find almost anything at these shops.*your going to have to forgive me* but at times the second hand shops and peddlers are more than convenient. But because of this, the problem you just viewed is created.
TheArchbishopSBC 2 years ago
What cannoir said about the bribes and the wages is totally true, that is how stuff like what you see is "allowed" to happen.
Also one thing i wanted to note is that the 1U.S dollar is equal to around 1.20cedis, prices are generally the same there for goods. people saying things like 10,000 cedis is actually outdated currency. But it was only recently(last couple years) converted(basically taking the 0s off to make things simpler)...
TheArchbishopSBC 2 years ago
Accra is a quickly developing city, mostly because it is the capital of ghana. Many parts of it are fully developed including the entire area surrounding that slum in the video. Like i said i've been there, just once, because it was quicker to drive through there to get to another part of the city the one day i was there. I dont live in accra but half my extended family does I live in the U.S, but my imediate family has a house there. It really is a nice place and I enjoy it when i'm there.

It contains an ideology that cares nothing of human beings or any other living thing.
It exploits the ignorance of others & achieves its goals through bribery, blackmail & deception.
Its understanding of sustainable growth places corporate profit above life and the corporations are hounded by the banksters.

This is what happen when a government don't gives a flying fuck about their own people. When African leaders will start caring for their own people, this situation will end.
SatanicCod 2 years ago
its not that simple, african "leaders" get backing if they are known to do whatever european and US companies want, while the potential responsible real leaders get no backing and end up being marginalized and never work in government.
It drives me crazy to see people simply point at the "dumb africans" for their own hardships when its foreign interference that is the root of the problem.
Lawlow1978 2 years ago 5
Evil do not exist if you don't support it.
