did you check the numbers on it they are on the left side in the back next to the axle you can go on line and it will tell you the year it was built and what model it is. i have a 1962 super deluxe hornet 26 inch and it looks just like yours but the colors.- im quite sure a 1952 has bigger chain links the sprocket looks like every other tooth is missing on the 50s bikes and they have wider rims i feel strongly yours is from the 60s
Its not a phantom, it has the same body style but it is not the real deal. This is a regular schwinn with some phantom style parts. You cant say otherwise because it has a small schwinn plate in the front instead of the large one, if it was a real phantom there would be no way the plate would fit because it is too small. You probably have a schwinn hornet.
This is not a Phantom: The color scheme is wrong, it has a 9 hole rack carrier (the original Phantom has a 4 hole with tail ligth) The sprocket isn't for Phantom and the front fender hasn't the Phantom light.
You are exactly correct! Bolt goes THROUGH the front fork, not behind the front fork as in 1952. (this style allow room for the key lock) It is a put together pee wee want-to be bike. BUT...Some of the parts on it DO have value, but not as currently but together! (It is about 10 different years of bikes into one.) I'm a Bike Collector from KANSAS since 1984.
This video was actually the day that I dragged it home. It had flat tires, and a ton of wrong parts. All of the correct parts I purchased were re-chromed, and installed, and it looks pretty sweet. I will have to post a new video of what it looks like now.
it dosen't have the Schwinn Typhoon Chord tires either, if you want it to be a complete Phantom you need to get all the Phantom custom factory parts which is a hassle to find even on eBay!
Yea the bike came with alot of wrong parts when I got it from the antique store, but as of now, most of the correct parts have been reinstalled to put it back to it's original condition.
paints all wrong for a phantom. there should be scallops on the tubes. springers were also painted same color as bike with triangles and the seat post tube had a diamond, but it is a nice bike none the less.
nice but it's a hornet

I agree that is not an original Phantom. The spocket teeth on the original Phantoms were spaced.
