The loud "bonk" sound heard throughout the cartoon was heard on numerous Hanna-Barbera cartoons when someone was struck on the head with something heavy.
This cartoon proves that Bill Lava CAN compose good music, at least when he's scoring a cartoon that does not star any classic/popular Looney Tunes characters.
This cartoon looks WAY better than most of the other WB-Seven Arts cartoons. Most of the other cartoons in this era suffer from Bob Abrams' flat, ugly-looking background paintings, but for whatever reason they had former UPA artist Bob McIntosh doing the background duties on this cartoon, and the difference is like night and day.
The char is called Quick Brown Fox but he looks more like the orange-red color most foxes have. But the name comes from the famous sentence which, IIRC, uses every letter in the alphabet at least once: The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog.
Another Robert McKimson masterpiece; the magic of his shorts mixed up with the Warner-7arts formula bring forth a whole new paradigm, summed up to the appealing designs. Wished this duo transcended, though.
It's great and surprising just how positive the reception of this W-7 Arts cartoon featurette has been. Maybe because a way has been found to put a new spin on the old notion of previous, established characters with new ones and it actually turns out to work quite well. Anyway, thanks for posting/adding the best looking copy of this on here.
Easily the finest of the late-60s Looney Tunes. It does feel like one of the two Robert McKimson Wile E Coyote shorts (a clever animal who doesn't talk hunting a rapid prey that makes a horn sound? nope, doesn't ring a bell!). As both of those were pretty good, this one does too. The plentiful short slapstick gags work better here than other cartoons made at the time.
I agree! Most of these late 1960s WB cartoons heavily relied on puns and dialogue for their humor, but this one relies on slapstick and pantomime, which makes it better. It's definitely my favorite Warner/7-Arts cartoon
Most likey when Warner Bros. made the transfers for international markets, a few years ago, they actually took thier time to make these "Seven Arts" shorts look good. Instead of the US transfers of the late 80s, with that yellowish brown tint on the this short.
Me too! When I saw the Warner/7-Arts intro here start up in its original blue-background version instead of a reddish-green background, I was like "This is too good to be true!"

WTF!!!!! THEY REMASTARD AN AWFUL SHORT FROM THE SEVEN-ARTS ERA?! THAT'S RIDICULOUS, NOBODY CARES ABOUT THIS CRAPPY SHORT!!
FanimationXV 1 month ago
@FanimationXV Aw come on, this short was the BEST from the Warner/Seven Arts era! And it needed a restoration; the old print was in terrible shape!
Now, "See Ya Later Gladiator" truly IS awful.

@jnadle1 Yep. Disney used to use it as well from the 1940s up to the 1970s. Warner Bros. also used it a few times on "What's New Scooby-Doo"

You know that Quick Brown Fox is sometimes sly but his plans backfire

Feels like a show I would see in an alternate dimension parodying Looney Tunes rather than a actual Looney Tunes cartoon.

Various elements of the cartoon are similar to DePatie-Freleng cartoons.

Damn! The song on this cartoon short is like
A "groovy" tone like that short "avance and to be mechanised" I can tell. The composer
WAS so deep in the 60's. That's really good.
