Cant see how you could review the 1090RR Brutale without saying that it has an absolutely formidable engine yet offers superb control via the excellent traction control that tames it all down and that it handles like its on rails however hot you dump it in there?

  • A buddy of mine has a Brutale', and it is a very nice bike. Quite expensive for what one gets, but it is hand-made. I would settle for either an Aprilia or Ducati at a cheaper price, but still high quality. I like V-twins, but niether of these bikes will outperform my new 2011 ZX10. However, I can still appreciate them. They are real sportbikes....unlike the hardly davisin sportser, which is a big pile of rolling american junk!

  • A tough choice are you shitting me ? One has a v-twin and the other has a 4cyl. If you have ridden both you know what you want. I bought a Duc and haven't turned back. I would never buy another 4cyl again for a variety of reasons.

  • @bulldog01209 - Please elaborate? I've never owned a twin, but did ride a single dual sport 650 for several years. The only arguments that I know of for twins are 1) the more easily usable power argument and 2) the lesser and more centered vehicle mass. Am I missing something or are these 2 factors enough to justify giving up the 4cyl's greater hp and finer broader power control over wider rpm band?

  • @epheseus Torque is the main reason. On a twin shirting is an option not a necessary. When you live with a v-twin for a while you get spoiled and lazy if i'm honest. You can go really fast with little effort. There is a reason why Harleys are really popular despite their lacking HP numbers and slow 1/4 mile times and that's torque. Even though they are slow they feel powerful and when you double or triple the power like in a Ducati you get the feeling of power with the rush of speed.

  • @ephesus All very true. Only one thing tho. The 1090 rr has one beastly torque, you got plenty of punch even at low revs, and the more it revs the more you get, but really, you never feel like you'd need more, even at low rpm, it's just one insane engine, i found it perfect. Might not have the berserk of a Ducati testastretta at low and mid revs, but what comes after it makes up for that. And yup, that's coming from one proud Ducati owner and lover.

  • @bulldog01209 inlines fours and twins have different personalities....the great thin about a twin is you can really crank the throttle especially on the ducati, and you won't get any power hits or surges...the inlines are great on top end but they feel docile and too refined...there just is a lot of character in a twin. I love them both..but being a gixxer and also a Ducati guy, if I had to choose one..it would be the twin just because it feels like a real motorcycle...

  • What the fuck is child smoking? "The old brutale just never worked.." "This ones more Japanese like........so it works" Whay the fuck would you want a Brutale to feel like a Z1000 or a CB1000???? My current 1078RR works brilliantly on the street as is all things MCN said about it in their 1078RR review....now apparently it does not work??? I rode both the streetfighter and all the japanese wannabe super nakeds and I can tell the 1078RR is a proper mans bike. Grow some balls for fucks sake!

  • I haven't sat on or rode the MV, but i totally love my Streetfighter S and wouldn't swap it for anything except maybe a Desmosedici RR. It is also easy to ride everyday so i disagree with the testers on what they think.

  • @bradlez996 Is it really ok for everyday riding? I wanted one, but i got to ride one i figured it was not something for everyday use. Bars to low and your arse to high. Awesome bike though! I ended up with a Triumph Street Triple R...Saved loads of flus and i can`t imagine any bike being better or more fun for everyday riding! Love it and will never sell it:)

  • @1986SoWhat the speed triple is a great bike and it will keep you happy four sure...I definitely like the 3 cylinder triumph over the four cylinder MV...but if I had to choose, I'll always pick the ducati. Numerous wsbk championships, moto gp wins and race wins in pikes peak, flat track, ama, bsb speaks for itself. Always ride with the Champion. Ducatis have been kicking tail for more than a decade why settle for anything less....

  • @RiderwithaLeftHook Street, not Speed. I think i`ll get a Streetfighter S sometime in the future, but keeping the STR! Ducati is actually developing a 3-cylinder themselves. So much tourqe and sounds better than anything else.

  • I'd have to go with the Ducati. I don't care if its just that little bit harder; I wouldn't be riding it everyday anyways nor would I be going all that fast when I did ride it most of the time.

  • Having a 2008 gsxr 750 and having ridden that for my first bike I would have to choose the MV as my next bike. My reason's have more to do with comfort and living daily with a bike i would like to get out of the racer position for riding through town every day not that I ride my gixxer everyday. Also I am vertically challenged at about 5'4" so seat height comes in to question with every motorcycle purchase.

    Last time I sat on a Brutale I got a charley horse, I'm tallish (6'4") and the ergos seemed focussed on someone sub 6' tall. Like both bikes but too boutique to be daily drivers IMO or promoted as such unless you are well coined.

    Not a negative, just an opinion. Great bikes in their own right and bikes that I would love to have in my personal stable one day all the same.

  • Personally the Brutale just doesn't do it for me in the looks category while the Streetfighter is something to drool over. No second guessing which I'd go for. Performance wise - it's mostly down to the rider anyway, so choose the one you think looks best.

  • as far as 1090 yes they do! other bikes i really dont know.

  • Cool,, my personal opinion is that is one of their trophy designs that should never be discarded.

    In no otherway has any valvetrain system shown as much performance with such a basic idea.

  • Hey guys this is an awesome video, probably your best to date. The camera work and the new music really adds a good vibe to this video, the only downside is that the audio is out of sync.. But please do make more videos like this, this is your best video to date.
