You must have eatin your wheatees today. That bike is heavy. I had a 650 for awhile, loved it. I had tons of power with it, cant imagine the need for the 1000. You owned it though! Will check out your other vids.
Finally, I've watch a few off road riding videos on youtube and haven't been overly impressed with the skill level, I take my hat off to you, nice job!
The rider on the yellow DRZ tried to bring out his strom but with 80/20 tires he couldn't even move. The TKC's were 20 miles old when we took this video
offcourse that need skills end experience( 5* from me), its a heavy bike with SV heart and expressive gearbox, i have trying to play in mud with stock tires, but no chance...
I'm thinking about trading my BMW K1200lt for a DL 1000. Are they buzzy on the road? Do they vibrate much? I have carpal tunnel issues and cant buy one if they vibrate too much. Looks like you have tons of fun with yours.
I traded over to a BMW F800GS since this video. The V Strom did much better off road than I would have expected provided the going was slow but after riding 900miles offroad in Baja it was time to switch over. As for the vibration the VStrom was as excellent road bike if not a little bit pedestrian. The Beemer is buzzy teh 'Strom was smooth or chunky but never buzzy.
Nice to see someone who knows how to get "back down" a hill. Kudos for you- It take a little effort to put these large bike through the off-road stuff. A friend and I took a pair of '96 Triumph Tigers trough an off-road section of Death Valley one summer. 10 hours to go 40 miles. I managed to stay up-right, but he sheared everything (turn signals, brake lever, etc.) off both sides of the motorcycle.
Funny you should ask... I am an instructor for Puget Sound Safety and teach dirtbike classes and teach during their 2-day adventure camp for riders new to riding 500lb adventure bikes and dual-sport bikes offroad. I did post a Utube on the intermediate school. It is titled; Intermediate dirtbike school... a video preview, or do a search with my name (Bret Tkacs)
I rode mine in a blizzard in Indiana. I looked like an ice cube when I gave up/

This is a hard way to have fun--many difficult spots, looks like very little fun.

@btkacs what do you think of the beemer it has a bit of a hefty price tag is it worth it. I am looking to get into the adventure touring.

@UBObfuscated I have trouble with my bike that weighs 430 pounds, how on earth you can do that and not fall is a big question mark.
