I was recently on a "county sponsored vacation" for a few days in Maricopa. I was in LBJ for about a day before being moved to the tents. I really didnt think the food was that bad. You get a bag with a couple oranges, some crackers and some kind of sandwich. Mine was turkey...I think. Being in the jail really sucks but the tents was kinda like camp. Vending machines even!

No one who knows me would ever accuse me of being soft on crime, but even I consider this treatment unreasonable.

In the first place, the pre-trial prisoners are guilty (at that point) only of being unable to secure pre-trial release. In the second place, the worst treatment is being handed to the most minor offenders - serious cases go to the state prison.

We had a Sheriff who tried something like this. It turned out (by the crimes he was convicted of) that he was a bigger crook...

I was in the jail and gained 10 lbs in 8 months. food twice a day but its a lunch sack with 2 loafs of fresh bread lunch meat fruit milk and cookies. the hot tray at night is loaded with rice bread potatoes and meat. You can also spend like 100 bucks a week and buy every type of candy chips soda and junk food you want. Amen to you. I didn't see any starving prisoners and the prisoners that have spoken on other videos have respect for the sheriff and understand the chain gang is a deterrent. It is a life I wouldn't wish on anyone, but if you were drawn to crime, it is also a reason to get out.
