Hi everyone. Need advice, is that buggy a good value for money or u recon something different. Also if u own one of those hyper 9 what is the biggest issue or problem with them. Heard that thy have leaks from differential. Is that true? All good 4 ya. Cheers.
nah i still pref electric its easier tougher and easy on the wallet , engines dont burn out i remeber after every race my dad had to get a new engine cuz they burn out -.-
@nukeshockhybrid That's everyone's own choise. My NovaRossi hasn't failed on me for the last 2,5 years without a rebuild. The gas engines adds an extra dimension to rc racing, i love the challenge of tuning it to perfection. Main thing is to have fun, gas powered or electric!
@2stroke4Me Agreed, I Run Both & Sad To Say My Electric Has Cost Me More Then My Nitro. Nitro Is Tuned Great Get About 12Min Tanks (Running Restrictors) Got Tons Of Bottom End. Tad Slow Top End By Like 3mph. But I Get 5 Mins Longer On A Tank. Rebuild Is $60 And I've Blown Way More Electric Motors Then Nitro, Right Knowledge Is Key.
My E-Buggy Is Running Tekin RX8 2200kv 4s Setup. It Doesn't Lack Power Anywhere And Comes Off At 140* After 10 Mins. My Nitro Comes Off 210* (+/- 10*)
@eskimoGangsta Interesting, i have about the same running times, also with restrictor. Since this engine still hasn't failed me, never did a rebuild, it will be replaced with the same type when it's worn out. Have the feeling you keep good track of your engine's performance. Usually the lack of speed is compensated with a lean setting, without keeping an eye on the temps. On a race track, bottom and mid range power are more important, since there's usually only one straight. Thanks for sharing!
@2stroke4Me Yup, Lean Is speed, My Motor Is Fairly Lean. It's An O.S. VZB V-spec Speed .21 (Look The Motor Up, You'll Laugh) And Bottom And Mid Range Are Perfect For Me At The Track (Which Is Where I Basically Only Run It) And The Top End Is So Minimal It Doesn't Bother Me. I Know If I Let More Air Into The Motor I Could Get That Extra Little Speed.
@eskimoGangsta That's indeed a great engine, loads of usable power. No, i won't laugh. This buggy has got a NovaRossi pullstarter engine (.21) and it's modified for low and mid range power (made a video about it). Usable power also means better cornering and controlable jumps. There's a video on my channel where i have a fight with an O.S. powered Mugen..... with bad tires.
@monnyg1 Yes, it's sold as a kit, had to pay around 600€ when it first came out. You'll need an engine, servo's, receiver, battery, transmitter, wheels and tires (the ones in the kit are close to useless). Exhaust and clutch are included, but i reccomend better ones, depending on what engine is fitted. Total cost is at least 1000€ (with a tight budget).
It's successor is the HyperStar, so the Hyper9 is "outdated".
@monnyg1 a .21 makes more revs than a .28 but top speed is more or less similar between all good buggies. What's important on a racing buggy is cornering speed, handling, reliability and stability.
@MrHotshot1995 The Hyper 9 kit was, like any other kit, expensive; around 600€ . The engine and electronics don't come with the kit. It's successor is the Hyper Star.
@imy2k07 Don't worry, the engine was tuned slightly ritcher at the beginning of the video as it was sounding like it was too lean. i Allways finetune the engine when it's warmed up. The performance depends on the set-up, tyre choise, engine and driver. There is so little difference between pro buggy kits these days.
Thanks for watching and i'm looking forward to your video response, cheers!
@CallMelmmature Difficult question since i haven't been face to face with a Losi 8ight yet. But it's in the same league as the HotBodies D8, Mugen MBX and Kyosho Inferno buggies. The Hyper 9 GL Pro is the next development and should be better, although i have no complaints about the 9 whatsoever. i Have considered buying a 8ight, but parts are hard to get over here, same as the Inferno.
@CallMelmmature Sadly Graupner stopped distributing Losi some years ago and HoBao parts are way easier to get. For some reason i like to buy from the local hobby shops instead of buying from websites.
@CallMelmmature No, it's more convenient for me. What makes a good buggy, is the engine and tyre choise and how the set-up is. As mentioned, it's in the same league as all other competition buggies.
@CallMelmmature Just look at the results at races, the Losi is a good buggy! There are no real bad buggies, just bad setups and drivers (i'm still an amateur too).
Just wondering, what was your break in process, how many tanks on idle, how many at 1/4 or 1/2 speed where those tanks done in figure 8's etc? any info would be a big help
@jardinbylund The first 2 tanks on idle. Then drive with it, leaving the needles untouched, for a couple of tanks (3~4) on half throttle. Start to tune your HSN first, sometimes give it full throttle but not longer than 3 seconds. When the HSN is tuned properly, the LSN is next. Tune that one untill it accelerates properly after at least 15 seconds of idle. Never lean both out too much when the engine is still new and keep an eye on the temperature.
@shorterthentyler45 They're around 450€ here and it's well worth the money. Don't know how the brushless is, never seen one, but it should be good too.
@MrPoopshoe It's called the WOT Method (wide open throttle), with the carb settings as rich as possible. Reason for this is to keep the heat in the engine.
Disn't film everything, but the engine did 8 tanks of fuel before i started finetuning.
One year later, the piston is still jamming on top dead center.
Thank you. There are some videos with onboard footage on my channel. Will try to make an onboard video with my Hyper9 someday. Jumping would be a bit difficult, since there is no circuit here and everything is flat here.

Hi mate, sorry for accidentally removing your comment..and thanks for subscribing. About your question; i haven't figured it out yet, but for now : front=7000wt, mid=5000wt and rear=3000wt. hi mate my video response is on my channel its the losi 8
imy2k07 11 months ago
nice video mate one thing i should say is tune the engine when warmed up its much better
tbh i have a losi 8 2.0 and a friend has a hyper 9 and the only difference the hyper 9 engine mount is at an angle
dont get me wrong hyper 9 is a great buggy
but i think the losi 8 takes it
i will do a video response soon i have the go .21 engine which i only picked up for £30
