  • I personally like your videos! i have always, and still do take apart everything that I get my hands on to learn about them. Just like I did when I was a kid! For the better part, I make a mess of things. But, at least I have learned something! keep 'em coming. Any mod yet for output power? Thank you, Sir.

  • @hydromorph1965 You are most welcome. I cannot post links in the comment section, but I added one to the description of the video. It is a fix for increasing power on the low setting.

  • what is your call sign?

  • 32 ohms in the speaker is even too large a value, the speaker is 8 ohms.

But, a 32 ohm speaker works FB, and this is a standard size.

I Simply do the volume mod by cutting the audio trace on the board and adding a 5k 1/8 watt resistor, SMD or regular will work.

As far as removing the cast metal support for the belt clip? do not do this, this, this tiny radio has the final transistor right by that!

Simply saw the AA battery case as needed.

  • I read a review of this where someone said if you solder a 56ohm resistor in series with the speaker that it would help reduce the excessive volume at the lowest level. Can you do a video of soldering the resistor or at least show the speaker connection points?

  • Hi there I am sure by now you will have found the solution to the volume problem,

but if not there are a few on the UV-3R yahoo forum, I believe it also shows how to remove the circuit board along with many other items regarding this rig

    hope this will help

There is now a new duel frequency display version for sale on ebay around the same price, but according to anything I have heard regarding the new version the volume and harmonic problem along with the PTT lockup problem still exist.

  • How was the receive audio muffled or too much gain if loud maybe put a cloth grill in the case I had another radio from China Puxing 777 kept gettin QSOs with low audio or muffed audio maybe opening mic slot woulda helped

  • @Aaroneus76 The receive audio is too loud/gain. Several people have done a mod to reduce the volume electronically, but I wondered about a "mechanical" solution like a piece of cloth. Also people with newer radios are saying the lowest setting is actually quiet. Vero/Baofeng may have made an improvement.

As far as I know no one has said that they are getting reports of low transmitted audio.

  • Great vid - best way to dissasemble it further is to hit it wuth a hammer. Not sure why anyone would want to break it up though...or why anyone needs to know how to disasemble it either...but thanks anyway!

  • @Freddyradioman Thanks for watching. There are a few mods that people have done that require taking it apart further - fix for loud receive audio, reduce spurious transmissions on the harmonics, etc. Me... I'm just taking things apart like I did when I was kid - because it is there. I added a link in the video description if you want to see more info about the mods.

  • Good Work!

see foton.sk pages for more disassembly (HowTo section)

  • @r0b0b4ss Thanks for the link to the site. That really helped me know how to do the next step.

  • @BrickOLore I thank you for the video ... You have helped me. He said about me on your page. Many thanks.

  • @r0b0b4ss You are very welcome. Cheers.

  • can the board reward and monitor up to 471Mhz...

  • @mhpek I do not believe you can get 471 with the locked chip.

  • @BrickOLore Thanks a lot bro... nice video. :) 73

  • I took mine apart, you need to unscrew and de-solder the SMA connector, then the metal casing can be separated from the circuit board. Really odd design!

  • @thazlett144 Also i think the selector needs unscrewing, a washer type thing.

  • @thazlett144 Thanks for the info. Can you elaborate? I'm not sure how to get in between the circuit board and chassis to de-solder the connection. Do you just open the gap as much as possible and use a pencil tip to get in there to do the work?

  • @BrickOLore There is a little connection you can desolder on the top of the board for the SMA, the center of wire goes through the board and out the top. If you melt the solder and separate at the same time you can do it. Very odd design.

Can be a pain to re-solder though so it may not be a good idea. Not much you can do under the chassis anyway as far as I know.

  • outside of it being very blurry for the closeups (fixed focus camera probably). very interesting. thnx... do you like the radio itself? was thinking of getting a couple for backups.

  • @ai4ri Sorry about the blurriness, but I hope you can still get the idea. What I did was really easy - just taking out the screws - so if someone tried it, there shouldn't be a problem to get as far as I did.

I like it so far. I love the size & price. I've been running it side by side with my VX-3R this evening. The receive audio is quite loud, but I have no other complaints. I do have the advantage of living on a big hill and having some great repeaters around me. I need to test simplex QSO.

  • @BrickOLore ya wasnt a big deal for me, i got the same thing when i stream from the truck, the cam is a fixed focus so can look funky at times.
