Nice review. I never had Skylynx but was always curious so I went ahead and bought one. At first I was disappointed because it was all plastic, but the charm of the design grew on me and now I really like it. I still wish Takara/Tomy added some diecast to the update. Oh well, still a nice toy.
That's a good point. All the Diaclone-based Transformers with self-moving gimmicks have no die-cast metal parts, e.g.: Powerdashers, Jumpstarters. Omega Supreme also has no metal.
There are plus and minuses with die-cast. With vehicles like cars and planes it lends an extra look and feel of realism because paint just looks more metallic off it. Although we have improved paints that better simulate a metallic finish it just doesn't look the same because of the different properties of plastic vs metal. There have also been improvements in paint applications on metal to reduce the risk of chipping;which was a problem with the very early Binaltechs but was quickly improved on
Also keep in mind when you transform the Lynx back to transporter - platform mode you got to press the small red buttons next to each leg when you rotate them during transformation. Cause if you don't do it , you'll force the leg by breaking the shoulder post. There are four legs totaling four shoulder posts in all. If one shoulder post is broken the lynx won't walk anymore. So be very careful.
SkyLynx is really cool and unique at the same time. I had the original Sky Lynx when I was a kid. I traded him for Kup. Wasn't too smart there. But after all these long years I got him back this week. With this great encore release by Tomy. Love the improvements inside his dino bird mouth being red instead of white ,and his tongue canon now being grey instead of red. Also his lynx component eyes being painted blue. Instead of them being stickers. A must get indeed.
Nice comparison of the original and the encore. I have the encore and not the original, and it's good to see that the only differences are actually nice improvements.
One thing though, the picture you put up at the end, next time leave it on for a good 5 seconds. It's only up for 1 second and gets covered by text so I had to skip backwards and pause it when it came up to see it.
The time limitation, you cannot bypass. The size limitation you can. If youtube tells you the file is to large to upload the regular way, use the multiple upload option, the max size is 1GB a file.

1986 was the year which saw die-cast metal being systematically phased out.

And where exactly would they put the die cast anyway? Sky Lynx is a walker so he can't be too heavy...

Die-cast is way overrated.

sorry, I had to shorten it to keep the video under that 10min limit that YouTube imposes. (-_-)

thanks, I'll keep that in mind and see what I can do for future videos. :)

I thought you could get by the restriction, though, if you go to a Director account. That's how Dyansis and PlayItBogart do it, I'm reasonably sure.

what's a director account? Does it cost anything?

what online store did you get that from and how much for shipping and it's price, nice review.
