I think during that year when kids bought a box of Cheerios, there probably was an Underdog comic strip printed on the back to show them what happened next.
@GameNinja13: Then it would be KIX. But seriously, I guess Kid and Sue were having "alone time" on vacation if they asked Superman-esque canine Underdog to do commercials for them. Same with the Peanuts gang.
actually, Simon could've gotten my dad to stop eating Cheerios had he succeeded. He refused to eat them in the late 80's following it's ambitious but failed Tic Tac Toe promo in which X's were put in the same box as the cheerios. Great ad!
Allen Swift, who provided the voice of Simon, used his patented Lionel Barrymore/"Dr. Gillespie" vocal impression, which people still remember long after the original source was forgotten. Yes, the "prop" weapon from "Go Snow" was used again for this ad, 'dnm', as this spot appeared during the first season (1964-'65).
General Mills was "UNDERDOG"'s original sponsor (and controlled the rights to the show until a few years ago). In the '60s, the custom was for the "star" to deliver a commercial tie-in for the sponsor's product-only here, you had to buy a box of Cheerios to find out how this commercial ended!!!
Pretty cool! I don't remember ever seeing this before!
My old boss - now retired - looked just like Simon Bar Sinester, only much taller. Simon looks like he'd be pretty short, maybe 5-foot-3 or 5-foot-4, and my boss was about 6 feet tall.
And my boss wasn't very evil either. Just a little evil.
Wow, dude. Where'd you find this relic? Didn't even know a commercial with Underdog and the gang existed. Awesome. Love how they kept the "CLIFFHANGER" at the end by making you wonder if Simon altered all of the Cheerios...A+++ vid
Man, how manipulitive is that? Buy a box of Cheerios and see if they're still inside the box? So the bad guy turned Cheerios into...Kix? I don't have a problem with that. If he zapped away the marshmellows from Lucky Charms, then I'd be royally pissed.
They should have made another ad with Riff Raff as the cereal hater.

Everybody can relax. I checked my banana and cream Cheerios, and they still have the 'O's". So Underdog did his job.

'Haven't seen this one in years. I see Underdog didn't just rely on his "secret energy pill" to stay in shape.

The "anit-cheerios" gun looks a lot like the "snow-gun" in the "Go Snow" episode of UNDERDOG.
