I CALL THIS BEING A BEAST.... i started wheel trhowing about a month ago and im preatty good and i think im goin to try to make money out of this and i was just wondering if you went to school and how long have you been wheel throwing???
hey i have a question i was hoping to get answered....
Whenever i pull up my walls my base continues to get smaller and smaller and smaller with every pull, i noticed your base stays about the same size. Any tips?
Hi! I have a question. I've been throwing for about 1 year so far and my tallest vase was 14 inches. When you pull up, I see a crease where you bring your fingers up on the inside. How exactly do you do that?
Howdy- I posted a video of how I normally position my hands/fingers inside and out to get the clay upwards and inwards. collaring is key in most taller forms, smaller volumn inside to maintain a straight upright cylinder. hope this helps, and good luck.
I like the video and the piece, but do you intentially leave the deep finger marks on the pot? Most of the other videos I watch they typically use a rib and clean it up before ending the video. Is that something you did, but just didn't record?
well excuse me if im out of place to say this but its hard for me to believe that that is 10-12lbs, it looks close to 15-20, more than half a bag but i dont know lol
no excuse needed- and frankly your entitled to your own perceptions. I do know after having thrown..oh I dont know, several thousand pieces, what amount of medium I'm working with. maybe try this- cut a bag in half, throw them both, and judge if you can feel what 12lbs feels like? I think if it was 15-20 I'd have pulled it up to my arm length like usual. thanks for commenting though!
im sorry i shouldnt have mistrusted you, yeah ive been getting very serious about pottery over the past year, im obsessed, but i love your videos, i love how you have so many vids of large pieces, its truly inspiring, i hope you keep posting and more often
you are no doubt one of the most talented potters I have ever seen and Ihave been to quite a few workshopesand have seen some of the best, youare my favorite,
thank you for the very kind comment! I absolutely love the wheel and creating works of art. always challenging myself, like most artist's. again Thank You. what workshops have you been to or taking ?
Approx 10-12 lbs I usually cut a full block in half and throw two seperate pieces. so its roughly around 10-11-12 lbs or so. funny thing is it only ended up 23 inches after firing.. go figure. shrink city!
nice vase, very well done!

WOW! look at how big those hands are. that makes throwing big easier... more surface area. stronger also.
