Cada vez me sorprende más Alicia...ese trémolo inicial es sencillamente perfecto.Todo lo que aterra a cualquier pianista lo hace ella con una naturalidad total.Admirable y prodigioso
I have a vinyl record I found in a second hand store of the whole Gaspard, Valses nobles et sentimentales and Alborada del gracioso. Soon or later it will be put on CD I gess.
This has great beauty and great clarity...the melodic lines are always shaped in a logical way...and even if she has to leave out a few notes (and doesn't play the glissando on black keys) because of the size of her hands, one can barely notice it. Superb playing!
I just thought of sending this to you! De Larrocha is fragrant and lovely in Faure, too. Incredible artist! For some strange technical reason, I am unable to listen past :33! :-(
I too was privileged to hear Mme. Delarrocha perform Gaspard in Carnegie Hall sometime in the early seventies. I had only Michelangeli to compare it to then. Both artists seemed on a par to me in this work.
I also heard her play the Rachmaninoff III there. Nothing in the literature was beyond her.
I will never forget the marvel that she was. I am so sorry to learn that she has died. It's a shock, because I remember very well when New York awaited her much-heralded, long overdue debut.
Superb! I feel so lucky to have heard in person Mme. de Larrocha perform Ravel's masterpiece 25 years ago...one of several memorable recitals I heard her give over the years. She was a magnificent artist who can never be replaced.
I was very lucky to have heard Alicia play Gaspard abour 20 years ago in NY, and most of all be a friend to her for more than 25 years,... the concerts, the person, the artist, was exceptional and irreplacable,.... she was the queen of all pianists,... how lucky i am to be have had her as part of my life. By the way her gaspard and Arrau's gaspard are the ultimate best interpretations of the piece.
I did not beleive that I could feel so stongly about a video I am grateful that you uploaded this It reminds me that great art lives on above and beyond muchas gracias de verdad
Fantastic!! Thanks!!

What was the camera person thinking??!! Focusing the camera mostly on everything and everybody EXCEPT the pianist, and then seldom on the hands!

Quelle beauté ! Voilà un jeu sans artifices, en prise directe avec le texte.
