im just curious how you made your boat i have a couple i have made with the pull back by rod im thinking of building a remote but cant find the hull i want
Below eufaula dam you have to cast a good 50-75+ yards to get to the fish... when they are moving water you have to use bigger gear.. I have tried to use light tackle but the current will take line like its a 100lb fish... Say what you want about our gear but we have fun..
the law say no remote or computer assisted fishing if you dont use a remote to control the boat but instead tie a line off each corner of the rear of the boat and run the lines to a swivel then run a line from a rod and pull side to side to control the boat and when you get it out where you want it pop you bait off the boat with the rod you are fishing with then you are legal the cops cant say a thing ive seen it done .
someone needs to try this method at san luis reservoir in california. the stripers are over 40 pounds and you cant be within 500 feet of the dam. and thats where the moe's are hiding
if it was a guided service, i could see why they were using such heavy gear, because they wouldnt want their less experienced clients to lose a fish due to broken line.
The reason for the long rod is you have 200 yards of line out and to get the slack out fast enough to set the hook it takes a t10' rod we have used shorter rods but you will come back with a empty hook, and for the heavy tackle its only 20lb line, we have to use the bigger reel for the line capacity
lil' stripers, or rockfish as we call them here.I mean, they are all nice fish, but put the tuna away. I live in Baltimore, and we catch stripers that big year round on light tackle, largemouth tackle. That big gear gets pulled out for 40-60 pounders out in the Chesapeake,-They are robbing themselves of one hell of an experience not catching them on light gear and rattle-traps or kastmaster spoons.
I love fishin below Eufaula dam.....i actually didnt start really striper fishin down there and we was up on the rail throwin actuall Gummy Shad up into the generators and we tore em up.....but eufaula dam is close enough to our house that its convinient to load our poles in the back of our truck and take off
wow how lame are you guys to use live bait, anyone could catch striper with live bait, you guys should learn how to really fish and start using lures or cut up bait lame ass.
this vid reminded me of when i use to fish eufaula had hella fun lota stripers to be cought down there nothing like running a 12 inch skippy out under a balloon an watchin the stripper go ape shit blowing it out the water not did it in 4 years since i moved to louisiana
using live bait is frickin fun so stop and plus this is a guide service the people who are paying the guide probably decided to use live bait because they are inexperienced!!!!!
what do you use for striper? i catfish below a dam in northern sc (we have 2 videos on our site of catfish) and we can get to the striper but we cant catch them. we dont have herring, but i can get 8-10 inch gizzard shad with a cast net and smaller 2-3 inch threadfin shad. i catch the gizzards in a pond near me and the threadfin right where we fish below the dam. if you dont mind giving me some tips (how to rig the shad on floats/bottom, lures like soft plastic jerkbaits/ and how to use them)...
Just let me know when your ready to go.The Sandbass should be getting ready to spawn at that time, i have better luck where the illinois meets the Arkansas river that time of year.Good Luck!
When is the best time of the year to fish for stripers? Do they move upstream to spawn? And if so , is that the only time of the year that you can catch them? The reason I ask, is that I already have my vacation scheduled this spring.
June July Augest are really good as as we dont get a lot of rain. when the lake gets low they wont turn on the generaters and the stripers get real hungry the video was shot July
Right on. I'll have to check my finances and decide if I can afford another vacation this year. If I can I'll get back with you. It might be tough this summer, I'm buying a house about that time. They require a little more down payment these days! Thanks for the info. By the way, awesome video!!!
I just looked at mapquest and see you are less than 5 hours away. I won't need to take a vacation! I'm pretty sure I'll be coming up to visit Yall. It's still too early for me to commit to an actual date though.
so is the reason for the r/c boat because you cant get too close to the spill gates or trash racks? thats a genious idea. theres this lake here called san luis reservoir and you cant get closer than 500 feet to the racks. were talking 40plus pound stripers some go to 60 pounds
i think i saw you guys last sunday, at least i saw the boat. it is really good fishing there at Eufaula. it was my first time there. Nice stripers by the way!!!

You guys have a guide service? I live in OK and I've never caught anything near that big, just little ones at Keystone.

Cant do this San Luis because in Cali, it is illegal to use remote devices to assist in aiming/casting of items to catch fish. Big ticket there.

fun video but why the heavy rods. your not fishing for 200 lb. tuna. try using some light to medium tackle, will be much more fun.

There are 2 good ways to catch them at Lake Norman. On the bottom with a bluegill/bream head or on the surface with a white zara spook.

great idea, so u have one of those clips they use on outrigger, fish strikes, it breaks through the clip and its on your rod now, righ?
dinoboy123 4 years ago
we use a paper clip hooked to the rc line release so if the striper hits before the line is released it wont break the line.
