i like the sound of this.... but the styling is nothing like bach. You gave this an almost spanish styling...which would be fine if this piece was originally a spanish saraband but it was a Baroque sarabande which is intended to be a slow typically grave sounding dance. 50-72 bpm
idk man like i said, i like the sound of this but i wish you would have done a more stylistically accurate improvisation.
Very nice. I perform this piece on Saturday for the 50th time on cello. I am stunned by the negative responses to this free improvisation. Composers like Gounod, Schumann, took Bach - did they corrupt it? Or Villa-Lobos, Baden Powell wrote "Bachianas" - did they corrupt Bach? And Bach, did he corrupt Isaac, Walter and Martin Luther, when he took their melodies and changed rhythm and harmonies? Perhaps purism is just one form of ignorance. Let's be inspired. This is beautiful.
You guys should check out Renato's web site. Besides Bach he also has an amazing Mozart guitar album, like I practically fell off the chair when I heard that one. On top of everything the jazz he plays.......I'm running out of breath.
I was not expecting this to be so moving. This is really amazing. He really put his soul into piece. I was about to go to bed...NOW I have to search for his other performances...no sleep for me :)
Wow, I've never hear classical poayed so well by a "jazz" muscian. I guess I've always listed to people like Fabio Zanon when I wanted to hear classical; and people like Joe Pass when I wanted to hear jazz. This was eye openning, and I've studied both genres...for more years than I want to admit. That was wonderful.
Fantastic! You obviously love playing. I love the fact that you use a pick. It makes for a great tone and it is a surprise. Very nice video too. If I ever see that you have a cd for sale, I will certainly buy it. Thanks!
i feel like this is the opening credits to desperado..and dont take that as an insult i really love that movie for its choice in songs....love this peice you really need to put new videos!
I cannot play the guitar, but I always admired your struggle for a distinctive, natural, clear sound, which anyway touches with a somewhat "romantic" mood. Above that I appreciate your power to go your own way.
I think you have a very good classical sensibility, the tonal/dynamic range sounds much more limited than possible on a classical guitar perhaps, maybe its just that jazzy tone - great blend overall!
How can someone with so much talent and melodic knowledge neglect crucial elements of jazz guitar like tone and production noise??? The pick is dreadfully present here... besides that, the notes are wonderful
Oh my goodness. I look a video of a jazz guitarist improvising over a Bach piece, and some kid just has to compare him to Kirk Hammet. And think that Hammet is much better. Christ, why?
A great testament to Bach that something written circa 1720 can inspire virtuosity to this day. Just in case anyone is wondering this is based loosely on the Sarabande from cello suite 2
Thank you for commenting on my classical piece! Your interpretation of Bach is very relaxing and smooth. You have a very good style and your sound is really swinging.
I appreciate Bach´s Music very much. You should check out my version of Bach´s violin sonata in G- Minor.

He doesn't know how to bend, he's famous because he's in Metallica. Tommy Vetterli es a genius with the electric guitar, for example, as reanto (I know they play different styles)
