  • mine has cracked 3 times....taken it back and fixed for free all times :)

  • The macbook unibody wont crash. its like the macbook pro in ways.

  • Last time i had mine replaced ( for the 3rd time in my Mid-2009 Macbook (polycarbonate) ) they told me that they would replace it free of charge because it is a known problem with the non-unibody white and black macbooks. even if your warranty is up they will still replace the pieces free of charge ... good luck!

  • @deevo324 i ve got the same problem now, u can see that in my latest video.

Im from Latvia, and i ve bought macbook in USA, what can i do ? :(

  • dude i have that broken thing in the 2 sides of my mb. :S

uk where i can bought a new one?

  • I think it is the way you handle the laptop... just dont slam it. because some people dont notice they slam it too hard, just dont get to comfortable with it because it is very breakable, my dad had the old one, it broke, but it never had tht crack, because he handled it gently:)

  • get a pro!

  • Thats what mine looks like too, no problems seen other than how it looks though.

  • put a big apple sticker over it thats what i did u cant even tell

  • Another problem is the power cord of the same product. Mine just flamed only one year after purchase.

  • happens to me all the time :( sucks.

  • glue it back just a little crack

  • That crack is pretty common. Heck, google image search "macbook crack" and all you see are images of that same spot just broken. Only solution is to get it replaced I guess.

  • i had thesame problen, now my bluetooth, combodrive dont work anymore fucking apple

  • Also frequently picking it up in one hand with your thumb pressing down on that part will do that

  • wear and tear.

happened to me, apple fixed it as still in warrantee

  • same problem

  • This is common with all macbooks especially the white one

  • The reason because of this is you can't slam the macbook shut.

  • all of that should not be happening. I got one and the case seems to be detaching, after 20 days. For God´s sake, should it take $2,000 to get a solid aluminum laptop with a decent graphics card? I should have gotten the Dell XPS m1330. check it out... a pity I cannot get a refund...

  • w8 wut happened i dnt get it, how did it brake, i am about to buy one, should i?

  • Hey i did and i love it!! but i aslo have the crack on mine but it doesn't change ur computer at all. it just has a small crack on the side nothing big. plus u can always get it fixed at apple 4 free un the warranty

  • They are fixing mine for free.. good deal! : )

  • I just bought mine yesterday and it has the exact same chip there(I bought it used)

It's still under warranty, do you think Apple would replace it?

  • yes, they did mine! :)

  • Mine did the same thing... and it costs 3000 pesos (about 280 dls) fix it..

  • Mine broke today.......in the same place like yours,I am really upset about it.

Until now I thought Apple Macbook had no faults......but I was wrong.

  • that looks like its from thoes two line things on the screen?@

  • Mine did the same thing! not as big as that but still! I am getting it fixed tomorow!

  • That hurts me, my cutie macbook..

  • blutack.

    lol :)

  • thank god i thought my room mate or my girl friend broke while they were using it !!!!!!!!!!

  • I had mine repaired by Apple free of charge although my Macbook was 18 months old. This is a known issue that is being repaired for free whether you're in warranty or not.

  • Same problem happened to me with less than 2 months of buying my Macbook. I'm still under warranty, so it didn;t cost me anything to fix it. Without warranty, expect to pay around $200+ to replace the keyboard casing. I'm planning on fitting my Macbook with some rubber stubs to prevent this from happening again. Hopefully the magnets that keep the notebook shut will still function properly.

  • This has just happened to mine. I'm so upset! My dissertation for college is due next week, what on earth am I supposed to do? I can't close it but I can't be without a macbook while they fix it!

  • I had the same problem with my Macbook Black..It still was under warranty and they chanded top-case for free.

Now I have a white macbook..I hope it'll not hapen again.

  • Yes, but it takes 2 weeks to repair (Gravis Apple Store Germany). It`s a long time without any fruits... It would be nice if somebody films a "manual" for self-install a new topcase...

  • Sure, but it takes 2 weeks in Germany (Gravis) to change the topcase.

  • Apple need recall it. Its a serious problem of the project in the plactic case - with pressure of magnetos.

    Stand up for your right!

  • Mine just broke too.

  • My MacBook has the same thing!!!

  • Mine has 9 months and I had the replacement without any cost. They didn't say anything about this problem, just replaced the top case, that includes keyboard, trackpad and all on the top, its only one part. I sugest you try on any apple store the replacement on garantie.

    Regards

  • OMG DUDE, this has happend to my macbook on BOTH sides. Its becos thats where the magnetic strip is when u open and close but its a joke, it shudnt just come off. Mine is 13months old. Is ther anything i can do about this?
