I always loved the music from this game. I feel old because I kinda remember playing it at my grandma's house not too long after it came out :P
My brother's band Descendants of Erdrick played selections from this game a couple of times. Just type "erdrick silius" to find the video (the reverendhammer version for multiple camera angles).
I beat this game for the first time yesterday :) man this game is hard, but it doesn't look that hard on youtube. Well played! I get frustrated at the mini boss in stage 3. That mini boss is annoying, and so is the droids from the chopper in stage 1. This is game that you have to know when and where the enemy appears in advance.
i hate LGN for takinf the license and makinf crap out of terminator. THIS game is the perfect example that LGN makes bad games on purpose. i mean look LGN it is possible: a good terminator game. give sunsoft their license back, you are just wasting it
Only briefly played the game as a kid, but the music certainly stuck with me. Definitely a highlight from NES era. Even the Nintendo produced games couldn't come close to this, well and a few other games.
You can tell that this is a Sunsoft made game by just listening to the music. Sunsoft games have a very unique and distinctive sound. Not sure if a lot of times they use the same composer, or just have use synthesizers for the sounds that are different from the standard NES game.
Either way, they're usually very catchy tunes. Usually very bassy with lots of percussion like sounds, is what I think when it comes to Sunsoft game music.
Sunsoft had probably wrote (or bought) some custom instrument software/bank that they kept reusing -- independently from the respective composer. From the sound of it, they're not using any custom hardware but just the regular Famicom/NES synth.
It's a rather common practice. Konami basically did the same thing.
Great Vid. I never realized how great the soundtrack was to this game. Very intereting that it was origianly intended to be a Terminator game. I'm glad they didn't just scratch the game.
Both compositors contributed the music to several well-known games, like Batman and Batman: Return of the Joker. One recognizes their musical style immediately when listening to some of their tracks. Wonderfully crafted melodies!!
Sunsoft, Capcom & Konami games provided gamers some of the greatest VG music of the 8-bit era.

The second stage BGM track is insanely long for a NES tune. If you listen to the entire thing it's well over 3 minutes before it loops. Awesome.
