At the place in my neighborhood, you can get it with a special curry sauce, it's amazing! It's hard to choose sometimes, the banh mi, or the Pho. Which is it gonna be? hmmmmm...
man,i think its not the original vietnamese's sandwiches, coz original, must have pate ,mayonaise, and it doesnt have white onion..it s the wrong wat to make banh mi like this..
i love this sandwich roll i used to buy this in a vietnamese bakery in sydney, australia they use fresh bread roll all the time its crunchy and soft in the middle but they make their own sauce ...i wonder if this lady is using her own vietnamese sauce as well not just ordinary soy sauce
She used soy sauce. Eh, not a fancy place or experienced bakery.
My father used to substitute meat with fried tofu and use salt n pepper. When we come to America we add spiracha sauce to it. Does taste good as a veggie sandwich but not good down there. Lol.
The best one have the aromatic smell and have the sauce. Best sauce came from the tenderloin with cilantro and pickled stuffs and fresh cucumber.
Trung oeufla with salt and pepper, cucumber, grilled tomatoes n ham.
je me demande s'il y a une sandwicherie vietnamienne à Bruxelles ..sûrement! je vais me renseigner, ça a l'air tellement bon et pas trop gras en plus! ^^
It is not original version of vietnamese banh mi. Normally u use pork only. No carrots. The sauce comes from the pork and it is a mix of various of ingredients.
whenever i go to st.paul MN i always get the sandwichs at HaTien. they just got some sauce in it that is so damn good. way better then the French Bakery ones. altho the French Bakery has some damn good filled croissants.
I just found this sandwich at Ba-Le in Arlington, TX a week ago and I've been back once since and gotten a sandie to go. I can't tell you how good it was, for 2.35 to boot.
put some mayonaise, pate (liverwurst i think), chicken..., onion, salt, pepper, hot peppers (its not necessary but he likes it), cucumbers, carrots, and cilantro.
My mom (who's 60 and lived in Vn till she was 35) never pickles her cucumbers. She does do the pickled carrots though and that weird diakon-like root.
save for mayonnaise, pork pie, chicken crumbs, onion, salt, pepper, hot pepper (this is not mandatory (^_^) but I like!), cucumbers , Carrots and coriander.

i wonder if i can translate that...here goes...
For the recipe
get a cut (idk if thats right) bun
put some mayonaise, pate (liverwurst i think), chicken..., onion, salt, pepper, hot peppers (its not necessary but he likes it), cucumbers, carrots, and cilantro.
to finish it off, put soy sauce
how did i do? 80%? lol
slpyazngal 4 years ago
that's right (^_^)
bon appétit !!
onizucool 4 years ago
That's wrong. The mayonaise is more Japanese in texture than American. And the carrots and cucumbers have to be pickled.

My mom (who's 60 and lived in Vn till she was 35) never pickles her cucumbers. She does do the pickled carrots though and that weird diakon-like root.
