  • Beautiful bass.

He always plays these runnish records like miles daves or some gay shit like that that no one cares about, people who collect vinyl in fucking 2010 are clearly deathwishing, as they like to make themselves old lol

really who the fuck cares about swing anymore

  • @Iamcola65 Wow. What a cunt.

  • @Iamcola65 What the HELL is wrong with you?!

  • great concept

  • The copy you're playing is a reissue. Original copies of "Metal Box" have this song end in a locked groove.

  • @OldMusicOnVinyl1

    I'm aware it's a reissue.

  • This is one of punks greatest moments because it was more than chugga-chugga rock or songs played as fast as possible, it never occured to me that this music didn't fit what I thought punk should be about, This is just as musically 'challenging' as the Pistols were in 76/77, if not more so.

    Brilliant.

  • its death disco, why its called swan lake?

  • @waynedaly100 Death Disco was the name of the single version, and it was renamed Swan Lake on the album because of the short guitar section (at 0:45) that quotes Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake".

  • metal box is one of my favourite albums of all time... wasn't this specific song in relation to lydon grieving over his mother's physical loss?

    "words cannot express..."

this is so funny too, because my copy of this record has the locked groove at the end, and does not fade out like yours. i love metal box because the records are 45 rpm, and the quality is WAAAAAAAY better than when they reissued the album on 33- the second edition album.

  • According to wiki, this version was renamed "swan lake" because theres a bit from tchekiovskis "swan lake" played by levene...

    Anyone can hear it???

    I couldnt sopt it.....

  • I think it's at 0:46

  • Oh my god! how could i missed it???

    thanks

  • @ThePaltiel tchekiovskis "swan lake" is all over this record, look up the origonal and easaly be able to pick it out!

  • @ThePaltiel listen carefully from 0'46' to 0'53''

  • Long live vinyl.

  • Jah Wobble is one of my favourite bass players of all time

  • Too bad Martin Atkins wasn't the drummer.

  • Love the retro nice touch

  • Comment removed

  • Lydon yeah good but without the Wobble & Levene PIL turned to shit

  • i evolved,no punk will believe me

    eyes on melbourne

    the likeness is obscure

  • sid is a puppet, john is a true artist

  • @TeoTheMaestro

That was the sex pistols, this is public image. Go talk about sid on a sex pistols video. It should be sid "was" a puppet, he's dead, you do know that right? I dont really think you know what your on about mate.

  • So badass. I do prefer this version over "Death Disco" even though the differences are pretty minimal...

  • I know what you mean. It's the subtlest things. But it's awesome to learn that songs similar to this (danceable while holding a dark meaning/inspiratation) where referred to as "death disco" tracks. I remember first popping Metal Box in and hearing this track... I basically lost my shit.

  • yeah

  • AWESOME

  • PIL is just lovely. I need "Another", the songversion from the backside of the single "Memories". Some asshole with a very good taste stole it from me back then.

Put it in! John L, keep on disturbing us!

  • Apoteosica esta canción.

  • i love death disco its one of the most underated song ever though :(

  • Jah Wobble.

  • I knew johnny lydon when he was a snaggle-toothed kid and he told me he was writing a song called "the sea is in your rice", about the Cambodian tsunami of `73... you can imagine my amusement when I heard this song when he was all grown up.

  • !!!

    amazing...

  • What a unique sound, that Lydon screech, his inimitable wail

  • foderstompf ??

  • If I had that album, I'd do a vid of that :(

  • wildly 70s rise from the ashes to a new era in music!lydons voice is eeraly hot

  • una gloriA!

  • oh boy this is a piece of treasure

    love this record

  • One of my favorite tunes from the Metal Box. Thanks.

  • Awesome
