  • Do you also believe that the mindset of the masses is the biggest problem of all in adressing and dealing with peak oil?

Just like explaining the financial system to people unaware of it i often see the same type of reactions on peak oil, the situation and the consequences of it seems to outrageous to believe for most people and you end up with the various denial reactions.

Over 4 years ago i was in the denial status to but information woke me up only that doesnt seem to work for most people.

  • how much does it cost to charge your car everymonth?

  • @thestonemaster81 Maybe $5 or $10 because I use my solar surplus that powers my entire home. If I didn't have solar it would be around $30 - $50 per month....

  • I wonder, what do you think about solar deserts ( Sahara powering europe) ? Or large solar array satellites (microwaving energy down to earth). Or Nuclear fusion power ? Do you think we the public could ever inspire the oil giants and governments to invest far more into these potential solutions? strike a deal of some kind? : )

  • Some of my friends keep telling me that after oil, they will pull out some magic energy Source and all be well. Apart from us having more unlimited energy witch we cant handle right now. Look at what we are doing to this planet. What is you opinion on this?

  • and 3: When oil is very expensive, and not enough oil is supplied on the markets for all countries to buy, who is going to be the strongest buyer of Midleeastern oil; China or the US?

  • Yo! I'm sure you know, but your audio is left only here.

    I have a few questions:

1: Experts (Simmons, Campbell) say we peaked in 2006-2010. So how long does the plateau last, and when do we see the decline of oil (when I say oil, I mean all kinds of petroleum oil on the market; like crude oil and tar sands)?

2: How much are we willing to pay for a barrel of oil after the decline passes? $250? $600?

  • Without jet fuel, gasoline, or diesel we will need to use something else for large passenger aircraft if we will continue to use them. Even the best of batteries are too heavy and big to make it work but how far could we get with hydrogen or natural gas? Long-haul aircraft may no longer be viable with fuel not being available or priced out of profitability.

  • @GuruMN Only the very wealthy will be flying, probably on lower amounts of remaining jet fuel. The military will have alternative fuels because they have to just in case they lose access. They'll use it at a loss though....

  • How about the concept of using solar panels to create energy which can be used to extract the hydrogen from water, then using the hydrogen as a consumer based form of energy?

  • @Power4Wave Because you'd lose 50% of the energy to cracking the hydrogen. It doesn't matter where the electricity comes from to crack it. Same for using Natural Gas to crack it. You're better off using that electricity or natural gas to power the car or home directly.....

  • I know this will never happen, but what if we can use cold fusion to product energy.

  • @okliam I was waiting for that question....

  • Hi and great job! I wish my dad would believe me when i talk about peak oil.

Do you think the USA should return to the massive use of industrial hemp nationwide to provide for textile, paper, bio-diesel, food and construction materials (studs, hempcrete and "plywood"). Hemp doesnt require much fertilizers or pest control chemicals and grows in a large variety of climates. Industrial hemp THC levels are so low you might as well smoke a piece of your Levi's jeans. What is your view on hemp? TY :D

  • @gillisledoux007 The first thing is to see what kind of Hemp lobby there is... if it's one guy in an office somewhere, we're in trouble because the laws won't change....

  • Thanks for the insight . I never did enough research on the subject.

  • @TheSillydad You posed one of the best questions regarding Hydrogen, thanks. Hydrogen will come up a lot more as people look for magic solutions so they can sleep better at night instead of lowering their oil usage in their life. Nothing can replace the power, portability and usability of conventional oil. It was a one time gift that's half gone...

  • IF Ethanol could be distilled using woodgas or similar biomass producer gas and not oil, would ethanol be a useful transitional fuel and energy storage technology? If not then what do you think we are going to use?

  • In the fallout series, prior to the bombs dropping they were using nuclear waste to pwer their vehicles, however in the real world I highly doubt that useof nuclear waste in our POVs would cause cancer or even worse.

  • good video please make more could you do some thing with car and solar please if not its ok

  • Hydrogen is a joke... So far.... Anyway, we should skip that step and go to electric mobility instead. Why making hydrogen out of the electricity in the first place? No, use the electricity directly in the car (or whatever)

  • You explained why Hydrogen cars need a miracle to be viable.... It's bad enough we grow corn for fuel, hydrogen is a much worse EROEI (energy returned on energy invested).
