  • this looks like austin city limits

  • I hadn´t seen Sam Bush in the fiddle before

  • @inconstantsorrow79 I don't think he'd fit, lol.

  • @inconstantsorrow79 He was National Junior Champion Fiddler back in the late 1970's. I used to compete against him.

  • at its center, its very scottish, thats what I like about these guys, they keep the core of traditional string music, but they push the envelope.

  • Sublime!

  • The very best bluegrass band ever assembled! They are all excellent muscians.

  • Absolutely incredible musicians! This is the very best bluegrass band ever assembled!

It's a real shame the "old grassers" or "true grassers" never gave these guys the chance they deserved.

  • These guys are excellent muscians!

It's a shame mainstream bluegrass fans shun great music like this. They don't know what they are missing.

    Excellent job!

  • @EXPL721 I was barely 16 when I saw these guys in the late 80's. You're right, people would get up and leave because they weren't playing PROPER bluegrass. But now the generation that loved these guys are crowding out the traditionalists at the bluegrass festivals.

  • @OysterLava Your right Oyster, I have seen this happen too. back in the eighties at little theaters everywhere.

I guess they didn't pay attention to the name of the band. (NEWGRASS Revival.)

  • @OysterLava Unfortunately people get pedantic in just about every area of music. There are clawhammer people who get pissy if you dare throw in an upstroke (the horror!). Life's just too damn short, and music's for enjoying.

  • At 1:50, their heads bob in unison, lol. Great piece, though.

  • This kind of excellance will never be assembled again. Each member a master in their own right. Words can't express the degree of perfection that NGR were together.

  • I listened to this shit when I was five and It broadened my ideas of music not needing words to be right besides tony R and bill M this was onlt good thing my dad listened to fucking riding in the truck he and I didn't know what fusion was then its made me progess as a musician 10 fold thx sam & bela

  • Tribute to EXCELLENCE. Moves me to tears . . .

  • great!! thanks for sharing all videos from NGR. Awesome transition from irish to bluegrass

  • These four guys are the greatest musicians (along with the Chieftiens) that we will probably ever hear.

  • we are playing this as a percussion ensemble (marimba, xylo, vibes, etc.).... neat song

  • I've heard this as played by a keyboard ensemble and it sounds great. Good luck to you.

  • Lovely music ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

  • It was this NGR ACL performance that got me as a 16 year old teen playing banjo. And it's still the music that this 40 year old aspires to. I lost my VHS tape years ago. Thanks so much for posting.

    Jim

  • It's fantastic how they segue from traditional Irish to bluegrass. Man, these guys were great together.

  • my friend drummermixer can play this on the marimba pretty badass eh

  • hey, in the marimba?!?!, I'm from Mexico, and I love NGR I 'd love to hear your friend in youtube

  • I love it! This is one of the MANY songs I LOVE by NGR & it's great to see them perfomr it!

  • Thank you bluegrasslibrary. Your collection is a godsend. I used to catch NGR in Bostic,NC since '84. Have purchased almost everything in your library on record or tape but the live stuff is the best for me. The videos sure bring back memories, Thanks

  • I used to see'em there as well to bad green acres isn't there anymore

  • Haha that's strange ya'll mention Bostic. I live about 15 minutes from there. It's a small world.
