So stout as a matter of fact the the neon outperforms the S2k in the slalom by 5mph and stops a foot shorter from 60-0. The neon makes a great track car. Hate all you want- theres no denying the numerous awards, races, & records the neon has broken in its brief 3 years of existence. Sorry its 3am here so I wanted to phrase something so it was clear since it can be taken 2 different ways.
I have raced lots of s2ks, and when they have lots of money into there suspension I stand no chance in the corners.
If I could have afforded one at the time I might have gotten an s2k but I am still happy with the SRT because for what it is, it is an all around good car. It has faults and pluses but they have proven time and again that it is a force to be reckin with.
Because of the power difference, and having fast spool time with my port work and tune, compare to sk2s w/ moderate suspension, I cant dive in as hard but my exit speed are higher, balancing it out the corners and giving me the advantage in the straight aways. Now I have raced lots of s2ks on the tracks and with lots of money in the suspension, I stand NO chance in the corners. But with only paying 13k for my car I feel i got the better end of the stick cause ability to price. But I do <3 sk2s

Here is a piece of advice that you should know: HP SELLS CARS TORQUE WINS RACES its a fact that the srt4 puts out around 230 to 240 ft. lbs of tq both cars put down around same horsepower but the s2k is just a little lighter so why the srt4 win? simple its the torque it pulls the car not hp hp are for dyno queens

My 2004 GTO won't make turns better than the s2000 and it's not supposed to, but it rips it a new one when it comes to which car is actually faster. My DD SRT-4 stage two is fast and I can actually put things in it or take trips with it.

whats gm got to do with anything? anyway my srt4 has 100k miles on it and the only thing i have replaced are tires. even the brake pads are stock. and it still runs like new. i personally like the look of an srt4 more than any other car. so saying its ugly has no bearing on whether the car is good or not. and ur saying it has a turbo and it barely hangs? u have a purpose built sports car for 35k and i have a four door NEON for 22k and my car is still faster. whats the problem?

my car on the stock turbo can put down 300hp to the wheels fairly easily and for probably less than 3grand. how much work and money would it take to get 300whp out of that 2.2 without forced induction. alot. 2.2 n/a with 240hp is sick from an engineering standpoint dont get me wrong. but the reason it can do that is cuz the efficiency of the intake and exhaust has been completely maxed out meaning that theres very little power to be gained with normal bolt-on mods. u have to do serious mods.

a stroker kit it self is over 3k. itb's are over a grand. ur over 4k now. some head work ur between 4500-5k. and now u need an ems to tune the thing. not to mention when i said the srt4 could do it easily i meant bolt ons. not a full motor tear down and rebuild. on top of that the car already costed u 13k more. basically the way i see it is i still have 13k to spend on mods before u start. id say 3k in the motor and 6k in suspension and brakes and even on a road coarse the s2k wouldnt win.

The S2000 is n/a engineering feat built for track. If I go drop another $3500 into my $10k S2000 for a turbo and tuning I have a $13,500 car that will smash. Your argument is pointless. race cars dont need torque because they are RACE CARS. drivability is not important on a race car. and my streetbike only has 44 ft/lbs but it only weighs 400lbs. the heavier the vehicle is the more torque it needs to have good drivability. my car launches at 2k at the track just like it does on the street. makes it much easier to launch when u launch at the same rpm all the time. and for 35k y wouldnt u get a 135i, evo or sti? they have better performance and practicallity for the same price.
s2k is a track car not for drivability, there are numerous vids here on youtube of s2ks going balls out on track showing there true performance. I like them personally cause they are se sexy, high reving, rwd, and perfect for the mountain roads around my house. Sure evos stis and 135s are maybe better for everyday, but they are another somewhat boring turbo car like this srt4. I like evos still cause they are little 2 liter engines.
but for the bmw, come on a twin turbo 3 liter v6 only putting out 300hp. I know u can get a ecu or something and make it more. But my 10 year old volvo puts out 270hp from a twin turbo 2.9liter v6, and thats with a shitty ass transmission so they had to tune down the engine. With a new ecu it would put out around 330hp

The best thing about the SRT4 is it makes no mistakes about what it is. It is NOT an autocross car. It is NOT a show stopper in looks. It IS a Street Racing Technoligies (SRT) car which means it just needs to go fast in a straight line. The SRT4 makes no mistakes about what it is and doesnt try to be anything else.
I have a SRT with bolt ons and full about 3k into my suspension. I road race the care, take it in the mountains and autocross and have never had an issue with handling. Even when I was on stock suspension My buddy could not leave me in the corners. The biggest problem with the SRT when it comes to handling is that you can be hungry for power which is what most people chase. As soon as you go chase after power your handling goes out the door. My car is tuned for handling and spool!

a typical 7-8psi turbo setup on an S2000 usually nets anywhere from 300-350whp so you're wrong about that. except for the greddy turbo kit; its garbage out of the box. needs to be modified to make big numbers.
God your fucking stupid. They DESIGNED the car around utilizing a TURBO on the car. Honda designed it around making most of their vehicles N/A. Some cars like the STi and Evo have turbos to produce as much power from the 2.0L rally restrictions.

So stout as a matter of fact the the neon outperforms the S2k in the slalom by 5mph and stops a foot shorter from 60-0. The neon makes a great track car. The neon's been 1st in class in the SCCA & ProRally championship the 3 years it was produced & finish 1st in the Cannonball OLA since 03. Sorry its 3am here so I wanted to phrase something so it was clear since it can be taken 2 different ways.
I have raced lots of s2ks, and when they have lots of money into there suspension I stand no chance in the corners.
If I could have afforded one at the time I might have gotten an s2k but I am still happy with the SRT because for what it is, it is an all around good car. It has faults and pluses but they have proven time and again that it is a force to be reckin with.

Because of the power difference, and having fast spool time with my port work and tune, compare to sk2s w/ moderate suspension, I cant dive in as hard but my exit speed are higher, balancing it out the corners and giving me the advantage in the straight aways. Now I have raced lots of s2ks on the tracks and with lots of money in the suspension, I stand NO chance in the corners. But with only paying 13k for my car I feel i got the better end of the stick cause ability to price. But I do <3 sk2s

You know when it comes down to it, both cars are nice. I dont hate on any car but the srt4's are faster stock, but what freddy says is stupid. My 2004 GTO won't make turns better than the s2000 and it's not supposed to, but it rips it a new one when it comes to which car is actually faster. My DD SRT-4 stage two is fast and I can actually put things in it or take trips with it.

hey if u want to spend 10k more for an s2000 that cant out run a stock srt4 thats cool with me. and one question...is there a sticky on some honda forum telling u what to say about srt4s? cuz every honda guy says the srt4 is ugly. looks are objective. quarter mile times and price are not. the srt4s stock quarter mile time is a hair quicker BUT the s2000 is about 2 price ranges up. i dont road race and id rather have a turbo than an n/a because $150 got me a full mph on my trap. n/a cant do that.

Actually I have the extra 10k to spend, and it pays off in the long run. whats gm got to do with anything? anyway my srt4 has 100k miles on it and the only thing i have replaced are tires. even the brake pads are stock. and it still runs like new. i personally like the look of an srt4 more than any other car. so saying its ugly has no bearing on whether the car is good or not. and ur saying it has a turbo and it barely hangs? u have a purpose built sports car for 35k and i have a four door NEON for 22k and my car is still faster. whats the problem?

my car on the stock turbo can put down 300hp to the wheels fairly easily and for probably less than 3grand. how much work and money would it take to get 300whp out of that 2.2 without forced induction. alot. 2.2 n/a with 240hp is sick from an engineering standpoint dont get me wrong. but the reason it can do that is cuz the efficiency of the intake and exhaust has been completely maxed out meaning that theres very little power to be gained with normal bolt-on mods. u have to do serious mods.

ITB's , stroke and bored, with some minor head work will get you there... and hp is just a factor in performance, remember you need the right gearing, susp. aerodynamics.. if folks could spend 35k on a car, they could probably spend another 5k for mods.Drop a turbo and say goodbye to the neon. srt's just perform in a straight line

a stroker kit it self is over 3k. itb's are over a grand. ur over 4k now. some head work ur between 4500-5k. and now u need an ems to tune the thing. not to mention when i said the srt4 could do it easily i meant bolt ons. not a full motor tear down and rebuild. on top of that the car already costed u 13k more. basically the way i see it is i still have 13k to spend on mods before u start. id say 3k in the motor and 6k in suspension and brakes and even on a road coarse the s2k wouldnt win.

now some questions. what companies make a stroker kit, itbs, do head work, and make a way to tune the motor that will add up to less than 3k? just name em. and thats assuming that u have the skills and tools to completely rip apart a block and put it back together urself. otherwise add labor and then ur fucked. and yes the srt can make 300 reliably. u dont have to rip apart the block until over 400hp. and yes a total of 9k in engine and suspension mods i think u will be real close on a track.

the s2k weighs nearly the same, has less hp to the wheels, no torque, the little torque it has is at 7krpm (horrible for street driving), it has worse gas mileage, no backseat or storage space. my car is a daily driver. i use it primarily for transportation and i live in south jersey (absolutely no twisty roads). in my situation who in there right mind would want an s2k?

race cars dont need torque because they are RACE CARS. drivability is not important on a race car. and my streetbike only has 44 ft/lbs but it only weighs 400lbs. the heavier the vehicle is the more torque it needs to have good drivability. my car launches at 2k at the track just like it does on the street. makes it much easier to launch when u launch at the same rpm all the time. and for 35k y wouldnt u get a 135i, evo or sti? they have better performance and practicallity for the same price.

s2k is a track car not for drivability, there are numerous vids here on youtube of s2ks going balls out on track showing there true performance. I like them personally cause they are se sexy, high reving, rwd, and perfect for the mountain roads around my house. Sure evos stis and 135s are maybe better for everyday, but they are another somewhat boring turbo car like this srt4. I like evos still cause they are little 2 liter engines.

but for the bmw, come on a twin turbo 3 liter v6 only putting out 300hp. I know u can get a ecu or something and make it more. But my 10 year old volvo puts out 270hp from a twin turbo 2.9liter v6, and thats with a shitty ass transmission so they had to tune down the engine. With a new ecu it would put out around 330hp

The best thing about the SRT4 is it makes no mistakes about what it is. It is NOT an autocross car. It is NOT a show stopper in looks. It IS a Street Racing Technoligies (SRT) car which means it just needs to go fast in a straight line. The SRT4 makes no mistakes about what it is and doesnt try to be anything else.

I have a SRT with bolt ons and full about 3k into my suspension. I road race the care, take it in the mountains and autocross and have never had an issue with handling. Even when I was on stock suspension My buddy could not leave me in the corners. The biggest problem with the SRT when it comes to handling is that you can be hungry for power which is what most people chase. As soon as you go chase after power your handling goes out the door. My car is tuned for handling and spool!
