  • @sp4de69 oh i thought the ultimate badass D came first..lol

  • the original van helsing..

  • @AMIRAHHAVOC lol, the original can van helsing was made in 1897

  • man i miss this

  • how long till d 3rd film?

  • D is such a sexy badass!!!!!

  • I was born in 85 love VHD this was the first anime i ever seen.I think i was about 8 maybe 9 but my dad bought it on VHS,wanted me to see it when i was old enough

  • i miss the old anime look so much

  • Alucard=Dracula

  • To be honest... the manga is better... perhaps becouse the UBER TALENTED artist Yoshitaka Amano made it

  • is this the one where he stays on the ranch cause i remember seeing it when i was younger and recently bought bloodlust and was dissapointed

  • Comment removed

  • I hate that flying purples bitches laugh...

Heres how that bitch should be dealt with:

    Me: (loads shotgun)

Purple ho: hoo hoo hee hee :D

    Me: Vile laughing tormentor! (BAM)

Purple ho: hoo hoo hee he- :D... dead.

    Me: :3

  • @BKVisionFreePerView Thats what i was just thinking!!!

  • Meh, He-Man was better.

  • Best anime at that time.

  • This is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Alucard vs D -- Make it happend !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @crystalman13 as cool as that sounds it would be pathetic how easily Alucard would win, unless as usual he just toys with him.

  • @Mindroach , you're obviously unaware of the real Vampire Hunter D from Hideyuki's light novel to say such a fallacy. The movies and new graphic novels portray very little of D's true power and it's even debatable that he's only a dhampir (the story is still ongoing.)

  • @Mindroach Still incredibly boring and Alucard>D this guy is pathetic in comparison

  • @Mindroach An argument like this is even more boring. Why not bring in Goku and Superman? Stupid kid.

  • @Brehserman Kid? Idiot superman and goku are two different as for alucard and d both vampires-- fail troll is fail

  • @Mindroach Well, D and Alucard exist in two entirely different fictional unverses. I had hoped you might have understood that, but apparently that requires an amount of intellect you have yet to aquire. Have fun living the dream and be happy with your "Alucard is over 9000 and thats all that matters" fantasies.

  • D = -3 hot -3

  • wow D looks cooler

  • is there only a dubbed version on this or can you get one with japanese subs?

  • went on anime news network. They dont even have this in their top 500. I was disgusted.

  • kkkkkkkkkkkk wtf.????? prefiro a versão japonesa mermo ...^^ mais essa saiu antes foi ? não a conheço...c alguem puder me responder please.

  • Wow, so this is what old anime looks like ah? Wow, used to be so bad, but anime is much better now. I like going back every now and again to see what anime used to look like long ago. Old anime looks a lot like old American cartoons, America and Japan used to be evenly matched in animation. But now Japanese cartoons beat American cartoons by a LOOONG SHOT!

  • @Mangaman1100

I like american cartoons much more. I love it how they are drawn. Americans are the funniest people. Their jokes are always funny and their cartoons arent that crazy, stupid, embaressing stuff.

  • @cave321 But americans cant touch the art style of anime or even come close to the detail

  • @ATPStudios

Of course they can. Okay not the art style of anime, but i dont like it how an anime is drawn. I only like some animes and just because of the story.

And american cartoons are very detailed too. Look at the old disney movies or the walking dead. They are very detailed.

  • i watched this like two weeks ago...i actually like the voice actor for the "hand" better in this movie than in the Bloodlust movie but....

  • i would not mix my blood with any Asian race. they are the outsiders.

  • i would not mix my blood with any Asian race. they are the out siders

  • they dont make great anime like this anymore!!!!!!

  • I haven't seen this movie in ages.. I miss it so much.

I just started reading the books and they're awesome^^

  • for some reason watching old anime just makes me feel relaxed lol like back in the good ol days, and the weird thing is that this anime is older than me :-D

  • @xXxXkingxXxX You know something? I felt the same you did while watching "Akira!" LOL

  • Freaking Scifi channel.... how I miss thee.

  • So was this before Sci-Fi started editing the films they show or is it edited?

  • They should remake this movie and make it a horror film.

  • haha this takes me back

  • is this the movie when he kills his dad?

  • OH SHIT

  • D's clothes are a little bit funny, like the early Batman :D

But see the truth, not bad for a 25 year old anime and the monsters were more disgusting than in Bloodlust. I like this way better :)

  • he always was a hottie.

  • lol

  • goly moly the graphic a so horriable :o like dude the manga comic does'nt deserve such horriable graphic im like reading the manga full on now 8)

  • @Luvuranime graphics???? its real Animation dude............

  • @eeiko321 well if you have read the manga and seen how beautifully graphiced the manga is you'll understand but its not bad for 1985 stuff..

  • does anybody kno where someone could get the full movie

  • I like the animations in this movie far better than ninja scroll.

  • LOOOOOOOL

  • Old school Anime just doesn't get any better.

  • im caught between this one and bloodlust i just love vampire hunter d hes awesome

  • I liked bloodlust more

  • @anonymus1337nes

15 years difference between them...course its better

  • @dontdoitnow

I mean not the quality of the video, but the story.

  • agreed - this is a million times better than bloodlust

  • Best Anime

  • both the movies are awsome.

  • i just found my VHS!!!

  • i want a vhd live action! NOW! no intro bs just play it like it is...who cares about origins when directors mess it all up anyway?

  • Originals are always better end of.

  • This original is way better then that bloodlust.

  • It's definately not.

  • i agree bloodlust kinda dragged on a bit

  • i wish someone would upload this movie :c

  • as of right now i think there are 16-17 books

  • never expected to get into this shit, but i saw bloodlust a year ago and loved it. D is a badass!!! im on my 6th book in the series right now...as far as i know theres at least 11 and counting...and i usually will read them in one 4-5 hour sitting because, again unexpectedly, they are very well written

  • @baldmunster Interesting there are books....

  • he has amazingly changed now :L

  • Esta no es V.H.D., sino Vampire Hunter.

  • I so love this film! I'm always so sad that I can't find it on Netflix. This one or Bloodlust.

  • The book is amazing. There's a rare hardbook edition up on eBay for $200.

  • Does anyone know where to find a free streaming of this in at least english subtitles?

  • i remember seing ads for this when i bought a anime video tape a never knowing what the hell it was. and now after seing this small scene. im still as confused as a sick dog in a hospital or a baby in a strip joint.

  • lawl, the title pretty much gives it away.

Vampire Hunter D. Vampire hunting is his profession. D is his name. D is a dhampir, a half-breed vampire. His mother was human and his father--you guessed it--was the vampire, Dracula.

The world is pretty much ragged after a nuclear war, but humans do still exist. Vampires, however, do not hide their existence and prey on humans. And this is where D comes in.

I learned all of this from watching the second movie and a little bit of research afterward.

  • holy shit..thats the old scifi channel...unreal

  • dam you!! i just love how he says that XD

  • How was the Book?

  • @onikjohn3 It was pretty good, though there was a few lines that sounded a bit...off, probably something to do with the translation. But other than that, it was an awesome read and I'd definitely recommend it.

  • QHazukiOfMutsu TY

  • The Animation is a little old school..but this is a classic and one of the very first Anime films I have seen, so I love it!!

  • the original version :)

  • it looks alot like a saterday morning cartoon to me

  • ? lol

  • Left hand: James be careful you're walking into a trap!

    Me: Yes I know

  • simply amazing

  • I think D is great!

  • Ahh, memories! I remember back when the only anime they played on Cartoon Network was for one weekend a year. It was Vampire Hunter D and Robot Carnival, and that was it!

  • you forgot "lensman" and it wasn't cartoon network, it was sci fi channel.

  • @meshuggahfan yeah it were sci fi channel used to watch it myself used to they showed this ninja scroll and voilence jack uncut version so great old school anime

  • Thinking of this scene makes me feel brave when walking in rough areas.

  • Hey!!! the screams/laughters from 1:33 to 1:49 are really scary in the japanese dubbed version and here it seems as if Krusty from "The Simpsons" were laughing and the voice from D's hand in japanese is really grotesque and here it sounds as if it were a buttler talking to his master, waaaac

  • this is my favorite vampire anime :D

  • I rather think that hellsing is better

  • Awesome Manga! this and Ninja Scroll are some of my all time favs. But not forgetting Fist of the North Star, oh and Akira, might as well mention Ghost in the shell too.

  • best retro anime ever!.. got me into loving anime, and the japanese like i do today... thank you mother land japan for making such a wonderful movie!

  • too bad the japanese will never accept a gaijin:)

  • Oh really? Been to Japan? I lived there for three years guy. No matter what, unless you're 100% naicha, you'll always be seen as an outsider. Even someone like myself, who can eaisly obatain an immigrant visa, speak the language, and is even married to a Japanese person, will always be seen as a gaijin. The sooner you realize that, the happier you'll be living in Japan.

What you experienced was Japanese hospitality. I know it's hard for a Wapanese person like yourself to understand, quite sad.

  • @SquallyZ06 You need to simmer down.

  • @honneyface44 What people can't take the criticism?

  • @SquallyZ06 You are right. the Japanese have an ingrained mistrust/dislike of ALL outsiders.

  • @tobi1480 >:( not all outsiders have mistrust or dislike u know nd plus there are no outsiders we live on the same damn planetso leave other countries alone

  • @InsaneDragonrider um, first of all, i was refering to people not from japan, ya wee prick, not about the planet

  • @SquallyZ06 Im sorry I dont know you, but why do ppl here in america hug japanese cultures nuts so bad? the japanese act american and the americans act japanese lol

  • @paladineXD Yeah, not everyone in America hugs Japanese cultures "nuts" as you so eloquently put it. There is a lot more American culture in Japan then there is Japanese culture in America.

Wapanese fools like yourself whose world revolves around everything Japanese and put them up no a pedestal need to take a step back and realize that not everything revolves around Japan as they wish it did. Nor is Japan as great as they portray it in your favorite anime.

  • @SquallyZ06 My favorite anime is helsing and my world doesnt revolve around japanese or wapanese things. I was saying why the hell do ppl here in america put japanese culture up on a pedestal.

  • @paladineXD I don't recall asking what your favorite anime was. That statement just proves that your world does resolve around Japanese anime and Japanese culture so YOU put it up on a pedestal. True Japanese cartoons have become a lot more mainstream but it's only small part of JP culture, and not even the best part. I remember paying 30 bucks for a VHS tape of Magic Knight Rayearth with only three or four episodes on it. I hate to break this to you put you're the one putting it on a pedestal.

  • @SquallyZ06 You didnt ask I told you. and lol okay i put it on a pedestal whatever helps you sleep at night.

  • @paladineXD Don't every go to Japan. Last thing they need over there is another wapanese otaku.

  • @SquallyZ06 I will go but i have no idea what that is im glad your japanese obssession lets you know words like that

  • @paladineXD Baka gaijin, be sure to learn that one...........

  • @SquallyZ06 Ill stick to engrish thanks

  • @SquallyZ06 ye, def. agree with this, you'll always be non-Japanese as a westerner in Japan. Not that they necessarily treat you bad though, at least I encountred little to no hostility (on the contrary in fact), but it really depends on where you're from and how you act.

  • @s4jt I encountered little or no hostility as well. It's not quite as overt as that. But it's always there, non the less. You'll always be denied certain benefits simply because you're gaijin (even with immigration status). You can never own land or property simply because you're a gaijin and you'll be denied entry to certain "Japanese Only" establishments.

It really doesn't' matter how you act either. You can be fluent and embrace the culture fully, you're still a gaijin outsider.

  • @SquallyZ06 I actually got into two different "Japanese Only" establishments (one bath house and one bar), but then again I'm not really your typical westerer (I was a small and homeless kid from Sweden lol). It's true though that they are quite far behind still in that regard.

To be honest though I kinda like it sometimes, noone expects you to be able to speak Japanese at all and there's really no need to get it down perfectly (which is the hard part).

  • @s4jt I was able to get into several JP only places, only a few times by myself though. Having a Japanese wife helped with the others:) A lot of the time the exclusion it's just to avoid confusion with non Japanese speaking tourists at places like bars. Other times it's simply due to racism.

Onsen are awesome and the only thing that keeps me from getting a tattoo. That old out dated taboo of "anyone with a tattoo is yakuza" is still prevalent when it comes to onsen.

  • @SquallyZ06 I think that's another thing a white guy can get away with, tattoos. Sure, depending on the type of tattoo pherhaps but still, alot easier to get away with than if you were Japanese.

Even if they'd be annoyed with you it's not even certain that they'd care enough to confront you about it, especially if they suspect that they're gonna have to try and speak English. Haha, kinda underhanded but if you really want to take a bath it works I guess ^^

  • @SquallyZ06 I think that's another thing a white guy can more easily get away with, tattoos. Sure, depending on the bathhouse and type of tattoo pherhaps but still, alot easier to get away with than if you were Japanese.

  • @SquallyZ06

are they all really like that?

i guess if you make some friends in a neighbourhood and stay there they are never gonna see you as an outsider...they are gonna see you as a friend....im just guessing i really don`t know how it is out there!

  • @FCKundo

Unfortunately that is how it is. Even if you make friends with your neighbors, some of them might view you as a friend (more so in Okinawa IMO) but you'll still be seen as that gaijin down the street. Government programs are tailored to exclude gaijin and "half" kids have it even worse. Most half kids go to a special school for multinational kids because bullying of half Japanese kids is so bad in Japan.

  • @SquallyZ06

    damn!!

    that really sucks!

    thnx for the info!

  • LOL I love myself a good weeabo roasting! I know, being an otaku and all, it's hard for you to look at the precious master race (naicha) in anything but a positive light. But the sooner you accept the fact that a good portion of naicha racist xenophobes, the less asinine you'll sound. Look up what the Japanese did in places like Nanking or Philippines might shed some light as to why all of Asia hates them. Also, go try getting permanent resident status without being married to one LOL!

  • where can i see the complete anaime at?

  • Buy the dvd on amazon that's where I got my copy.

  • D VS Alucard would be amazing!

  • Well let`s face it,it would be over quick :D

AlucarD is chuck norris of Anime world :3

  • D is the son of dracula, so he sorta is Alucard.. well in the castlevania sense and other movies/games.. but im not really familiar with Hellsing, so i dont know if he is dracula or his son in that show or not

  • Actually, Alucard is Dracula Spelled backwards, so Dracula is Alucard, that mean it would be a father son fight, since D is Dracula's offspring

  • @Siferess Think it was suggest in Vampire Hunter, in one of the two movies, that D was the son of Dracula, and in Hellsing I think it was revealed that Alucard was Dracula, of course also Alucard is Dracula spelt backwards. So D vs Alucard would be father vs son, like Luke Skywalker vs Darth Vader.

  • @Siferess that would be fun...but to be honest I think Vampire D is a better anime....way more Dark fantasy than Hellsing....or maybe I just like the old ones like Berserk too much..hahaha.

  • @Siferess that doesn't make any sense, D IS Alucard...

  • @EcksPwnsAll no D is the son of dracula and alucard is dracula therefore he would just be fighting his dad

  • @Siferess alucard is a bit OP though lol ive only seen a couple of episodes but that thing where he turns into a load of eyes would pwn D :S D is cooler though :)

  • one thing i dont like about the vampire hunter d movie at least the first one is that he never showed emotion or made any noise unless talking so when he jumped there and yelled that is not his character at all

  • well yeah lol

  • Because he's the son of Dracula and Dracula is the most powerful vampire in all fiction.

  • thats not entirely true, its the "all fiction" part that isn't true, in the blade comic blade defeated dracula. but also you should read the books they are WAY better than the movies and there is way more info into D's story in the second book D encounters dracula and holy crap he is powerful he wasn't even actually there he was using his mind to fight d but just read them they are good one thing though they are extremely graphic both violence and sexually at parts

  • Any foe no matter how powerful could be destroyed in some way. Everyone has their own version of Dracula as he is sometimes more powerful than other versions.

I've read the first Vampire hunter D and I thought parts of it were way better than the film. I especially like the fact that in the book D gets a love scene with Doris and quite an erotic one too. I wish that was in the film.

I'm planning to read all the books, I've became a Vampire Hunter D fan this year.

  • you suck

  • One of the best. Have always loved VHD and Hellsing.

  • Beats the shit out of Twilight any day.

  • Those monsters that D is fighting are actually part of Rei's criminal gang in the book.

  • i first watched this on cable tv couple of weeks ago. I had no idea it was made in the 80s

  • i was lucky as hell, i got into anime.. well really everything japanese at a young age.. like 8 or so, and my first REAL anime movies i got to see was THIS fucking masterpiece and robot carnival, then i passed out when twilight of the cockroaches came on.. this was back when cartoon network VERY first showed anime for like, one night.. it was called japanimation night or something, it CHANGED my fucking life! lol

  • i have the orginal movie wen i was 6 yrs old nd this movie is wat got me into vampires in the first place nd i would always b D's fan because he is sooo smexy

  • I've never seen the English version of this anime. I prefer this D's voice better than Japanese one.

I'm a big fan of D and his original novels. It's nice to see there are many D fans overseas. :-)

  • old school anime, the best of the best

  • he he i saw this last night i loved it, it's cool

  • Saw this again last night

    Best line-

Left hand: Ohh your not a bad person, you just dress bad.

  • dat line is from the hunter d movie bloodlust nd dat was funny, i love his left hand he's so halarious

  • I used to have this on video , can;t seem too find this one on dvd anywere ? , seen the other vampire hunter on dvd , is that the same srory line?

  • they're available on ebay. and no it isn't the same story line : )

  • they should make another movie it probably would be good:)

  • a propos 1:22 itd. jak te potworki uciekają - tak mogłaby wyglądać reklama Domestosa

  • Mocne x'D

  • omg i even remember when this came on the sci fi channel way back when robot carnival would come on

  • This anime came out the year I was born, I'm a big fan of Vampire hunter D. I wish they made more Vampire hunter D films, I'm going to read the novels soon.

I can't decide who I like better Alucard from Hellsing or D. I would say my personality is more like D's as I'm a quiet man too.

Left Hand: D be careful you're walking into a trap!

    D: Yes I know

Best line in the whole film.

  • D rulz. no question about it. saw this one when i was younger then the sequel in 2000 or 2001. nothing can top the original. evn his hand was funnier in the original. and the werewolf in the begining kicked major ass

  • I love both movies XD

but i personally prefer the graphics in Bloodlust... just my opinion

  • I love both this movie and Bloodlust!!!

    Just so awsome.

  • It doesn't even look like a manga or anime. And that's great because it resembles The Heavy Metal movie which was a damn good 1980's cult classic.

  • From what i hear, they made this movie with the western audience in mind. not just the art stile, but the music as well.

  • I never understood his blue gem... he's seemingly out to kill his dad/creator and yet he's willing to use the authority his dad has through his blue gem. Then again it hasn't really said what his main goal is... I know he's looking for his dad/creator...

  • this has been my shit for the longest

  • I personally prefer this film over Bloodlust; there's just something really fun about it, and not just in the "it's so incredibly camp" way. Story was more fun, and there was much more action; the sequel is gorgeous to look at, and I did enjoy it a lot, but this film has a way of just touching your heart. Thanks for posting :}

  • :( seen blood lust that seemd pritty cool but i didnt get half the movie cus i havnt seen the first one now this jsut wants me to watch it moar!

  • this won't give you ANY more back story than from bloodlust. its still amazing haha i like the books better. still classic.

  • i got both vampire Hunter D moviea this one and bloodlust on 1 disk
