The one on the tailor acts as if maybe at some point in time he/she; can't quite tell, was abused in a tailor or something along that line. I know an old Morgan gelding who was and he did this as well. As far as under saddle goes with the others I don't quite have any theorys but it looks like a helpful video as far as teaching people how to understand what their horse is trying to say and how to answer in a way to solve a problem rather than to build more future problems. I think I watch it.
how frustrating that people don´t actually listen to what you´re saying, have the audacity to make detrimental comments and probably own horses that aren´t happy!
Well... the people in this movie are at least smart enough to read... check out the description under the video or even one of the many comments I have written about it.
do you idiots even know how to read or are you just looking at the video with the volume turned off. the only stupid people are the ones commenting below me with maybe two or three exceptions.. -_-
The girl witht he horse trying to get it in the float is doing it all wrong, one, she's standing onfront of the horse, two the float moves when he stands on it, so of course he doen't want to go in. three the float looks to be to small. four when a horse is difficult you never force him onto a float. Take him away and lead him purposefuly towards that flost. Or use food or treats to gain his reasurance.
Horses aren't being stupid because they can... Their brain can't think like humans. There are always a good reason for their behavior - either it is pain in their body, it is something the rider have learned the horse, the horse is affraid og the horse has bad experiences forexample with a trailer ( many horses are claustrofobic - i would be too if i where a big horse supposed to be in a small room )
the girl in the green pants is definitely scared of her own horse i always get angry when I see these people because they have no idea (I mean the owners not the trainer)
i think that the horses in the clips are supposed to be examples of horses NOT being handled the way the narrator is describing, and im assuming that in the videos following this one, the trainer will help those horses through the methods described by the narrator
@foxtrottermeg This is true. Follow the link, and you'll find several videos of her helping these owners understanding their problems and begin working together with the horse. Ellen is a superb horse-person, this is not just some random amateur trying to show off (this is nothing like Linda Parelli's crap).
One thing I am learning as a rider is patience is everything... and not just externally. One of the biggest battles that riders have is being able to keep our emotions calm... and I have seen too many horses who react because the rider is freaking out (internally). Something as simple as being emotional with a very receptive horse is all it takes.
my horse's behavior is exactly the same as the two black horses have. She was abused before i got her and her owner didn't care about her. I don't know what exactly happened to her, just guess. But she trusts me a lot and she always tries her best to make me happy but she's scared about the basic things like taking off the headcollar (right engl. word?) like the black pony, or getting snaffled. when she's racked up she get's scared and behaves like a runaway horse.
Clicker training can fix most problems, if not all I dare say, in short order. With clicker training the horse is changed from 'reactive' to thinking. If you have a horse with problems, number one, it is the human's fault. Number two, learn about clicker training. You will be amazed!
at 1:14 why give him/her a slap?thats the worst thing you could do if you want to put the bridle on??from this video you lot need to have some patience!!
I agree with this 100%, my former trainer told me that 90% of the problems that she sees are caused by the people, with the other 10% caused by the horses.
The trailer is too small and the handler is facing the horse while asking it to move forward; this makes the horse want to back up. Trying a bigger trailer with more light might help, as well as leading him on and NOT looking back at all.
The bridling one is tough, though. Especially when the horse turns to run away after.
she is very good and all but the first part with the trailer, the horse is too big!! and if you look closely the first time it goes in it bangs his head on the top, so it wont want to go in!! this is a common reason for horses not loading, so maybe they should have sorted that out first, but well done to her and STUNNING horses especially the bay =]
Correct!!! My cousin had too small of a trailer and i got mad at her becasue shes standing there trying to load her horse and shes lke idk why she wont go on and im like hello. look at the size of your horse then look at the size of the trailer. Always make sure your horse will fit on the trailer.
I like Ellen's comment that it is important for the owner to particpate in the training of the horse. Because that is where almost all problems stem from. Horses that display unwanted and dangerous behavior do so because they have been inadvertently rewarded to do so. Once the owner learns how to truly communicate to the horse, it has been my experience that many of these behaviors simply go away. I hope that she incorporates pricinples of animal pschology in the larger version of the video.
Watch the first 2 seconds of this video and you have your answers , these people talk a good talk but don`t practice their own words . Who drops a ramp on a horse like that ?
who can blame the horse for acting like that when you arent training it the right way. the trailer is waaaay to small it hit its head on the top. - duh!
I must say, never slap a horse in the face... thats how they get headshy and makes it that much more difficult to work around their face. we had a horse that would nip and what i found that worked was everything he'd bite or make that attempt (trust me you know when he did) we'd bop him under the chin, he couldn't see it and not hard it just honest to god shocked this horse. he discovered cause and effect without becoming headshy.
That's not a problem horse more a very smart horse. How unsafe does that trailer look? Looks like the timber floor is about to give away at any second. Try loading a horse into a trailer that actually looks like it will survive the journey.
Don't even get me started at the rider of the grey horse or the person trying to mount the horse, maybe if they stopped chucking the poor horses in the mouth they might have some success
That trailer look very well lit, a trained horse should walk willingly into that trailer.
But I do agree with the riders' mistakes. Tie the horse up to put the bit in, and for now get someone to hold th horse while you get on... Every time the doesnt move give a treat or a scratch.
the one that wouldn't stand still is not a horse problem it is a rider problem if somebody woud teach that gal how tomount up properthe horse would be ok he is fighting the bit because of all the back pressure she is pulling on it
No wonder this horse is nervous around these people, they stare at it all the time, use confrontational and aggressive body language or the other extreme, show nervousness of the horse.Hope this poor horse goes to owners who know the first thing about horses! You can badly damage a horses mouth using a chifney to force it to do something btw.Why not form a good bond with the horse and learn to speak it's language instead of using force?
when u load a horse into a lorry or a trailer and its a nightmare to load always use a chiffney and a cavesson i mean cuz my mums horse used to do that but now its allright
It was showing what people were doing wrong in the first bit...don't see why people aren't getting that. Anyways, it looks like a good movie. My horse doesn't like to get in the trailer and it's usually a three hour battle. We've tried everything in the book...non-violent ones of course.
This looks like a great video. My horse has a slew of problems because he has been abused by a human sometime in his life. We are slowly getting to trust one another. We have a long way to go.
For the horse not standing still while being mounted, that's an easy problem to fix lmao. Keep the inside rein tight so they just keep going in circles around you then put your foot in and hop on. When they realize they're doing all that work for nothing, they seem to get it, most times that is!! :P
Agreed the first 30 seconds all i could think of is... horse doesn't like the trailer...resonable. Horse doesn't want to come in from the pasture. Fine it happens. and if the horse won't hold still while you jump on him get the lazy person recording to hold the damn horse
really its just a horse they weren't really being bad. -.-
maybe so, but i dont force them down and call it horsemanship! There is a lot more that is doen with the horses to make them ridable besides endo laying them down and then wala they ride great, he is just an exersize rider, the grooms and trainers do a lot more to the horses than he does to make them rideable.
Bill, please book yourself into a clinic and dry out. They have special places where you can book in without using your real name it's called AA and caters for people like you that talk BS..
yea.. i have this pony who bucks wen i get on er but once we get started she'll be just fine. i guess she doesn't like how i get on or something.. i'll think about that
I totally agree with this video, there is no such thing as a problem horse, they wudnt behave badly if it wasnt for some silly human in their life tht doesnt have a clue
AHHHHHH Every horse vid i watch it all "poor horse". i agree that alot of problmes are caused by people. its becouse people r to SOFT on their horses. Horse need to respect their handles/riders. horses dont'love' like we do. i dont agree with bashing horses and i agree with making the understand and not forsing them but they are big aminals. ask Clinton Anderson he will tell you the same thing.
thts bollox, horses do not understand tht a slap means tht they have done some thing wrong, they react to body language, u will get much more respect frm ur horse if u treat it how other horses wud treat it ie, direct eye contact and stiff shoulders= threat, lowering ur gaze and a relaxed posture= non-threatening.... if it wrks on a very badly treated ex-racing stallion thn it will wrk on any horse
dont jerk on your horse like that! if the horse walks forward release the pressure, when the horse backs away from the trailer add pressure! the horse is confused! it wants to go in, but your standing right in its way of the trailer!!
its not about the trailer size. its simply about the trailer. they wouldnt ask it to load a trailer it couldnt fit on. and this is an advertisement- they want you to buy the dvds to show how they corrected the problem. and obviously they corrected it or they wouldnt have made a video on it.
OK. THEN LETZ JUST GO BUY A HUGEEE 20 HORSE TRAILER SO THATS MY HORSE CAN GET ON THE TRAILER INSTEAD OF JUST TRAINING HIM TO GET ON A SMALLER TRAILER!!111
You guys, seriously. CALM DOWN. Yes, most of the time its human's fault if a horse messes up. But FYI: HORSES ARE NOT PERFECT ETHIER. Ever considered that they just dont feel up to doing something today and are being brats? Jesus.
No wonder the horse isnt going into the trailer, that girl is guna get nowhere tugging the poor horse like that! and also that trailer looks tiny, i wouldnt wana go it!!
People label their horses "problem horse" because they don't want to admit or take responsibility that their horses reactions are caused by "problem people". It is easier for them to blame a creature that can't defend its self.
on the trailer part, she should not tug on the rope and when the horse backs away, LET IT, then collect it again. LET THE HORSE BE WILLING TO FOLLOW YOU, NOT FORCE IT!
on the bridle one, dont smack the horse like that. maybe its not really smacking but the horse thinks its like its smacking!
HOW DARE YOU PUT A TITLE LIKE THAT!!!!their not problem horses they have problem pasts. you have to understand u cant force them u need to understand. for proof watch the video <<Breathe>>. that title angers me and at the same time i wanna cry. so once again, HOW DARE YOU MAKE THAT TITLE!!!>:'(
ok..this isnt exactly Problem Horses. title should be: Problem People. first off, dont just pull on a horse. Its just going to make them pull more. Pull release, pull release until the horse yeilds. These people need more schooling on how to handle these situations.
i dont totally agree with this but the horse who was running away in the pasture probably just comes from his past like i have one horse who doesnt like to be caught but i dont know his past he might have been abused in his past...
I agree with this hestenemine. My yearling hears the halter when I grab it and nickers cause he LOVES to come out and be with me. None of my horses run away
Gimme my Reiner Klimke and Clinton Anderson. I have a coming two year old that will be in a year of good old ground work before she has even one rider on board. I want my "FILLY!!!" to be sound of mind and body 20 years from now. I don't see horses with problems, I see owners who are being disrespected ;) Find a good trainer if you have a young\untrained horse or purchase a good old trained gelding. Remember "Young and New = Black & Blue (for horse and rider)
i did i did!!! lol. yea i think it is b/c the ppl have a lack of confidence. if i was a horse i would never get on THAT trailer!! also b/c the handlers probably dont have the slightest clue what they're doing. sometimes you do have to be a little tough like in the beginning to lay down the law.
I agree. The horse is oviously scared of something and the people cn force to horse into doing what their afraid of...they have to work with them to face their fears ina calm way.
these horses dont have problems.. it is the owners that do

jesst1988 4 years ago
no offense but that trailer is way to small....get a bigger nicer trailer
bentleyrox1st 4 years ago
I think those people should be nicer tho tad horse...
FalenAngel1823 4 years ago

AHHHHHH Every horse vid i watch it all "poor horse". i agree that alot of problmes are caused by people. its becouse people r to SOFT on their horses. Horse need to respect their handles/riders. horses dont'love' like we do. i dont agree with bashing horses and i agree with making the understand and not forsing them but they are big aminals. ask Clinton Anderson he will tell you the same thing.
yls23 4 years ago
thts bollox, horses do not understand tht a slap means tht they have done some thing wrong, they react to body language, u will get much more respect frm ur horse if u treat it how other horses wud treat it ie, direct eye contact and stiff shoulders= threat, lowering ur gaze and a relaxed posture= non-threatening.... if it wrks on a very badly treated ex-racing stallion thn it will wrk on any horse

is that even considered a trailer?

i dont blame that one horse....that traler is sooo small its a wonder he fits. looks unsafe too..
alyssaloveanselmi494 4 years ago
Tisn't too small tis just a single box instead osf a double. I hate single boxes tho!

Interesting clip - putting aside the comments of the few with littl experience of horse training OR horses with real problems.
geoffr25 4 years ago
No wonder she couldnt get the bridle on...
Pulling a horse one way that hard wont really get you anywhere. Should try some parelli love.
TayBabe442 4 years ago
dont jerk on your horse like that! if the horse walks forward release the pressure, when the horse backs away from the trailer add pressure! the horse is confused! it wants to go in, but your standing right in its way of the trailer!!
horselover0013 4 years ago
Um the whire horse in the last clips.. whats its name??
Nardzypoo 4 years ago
its not about the trailer size. its simply about the trailer. they wouldnt ask it to load a trailer it couldnt fit on. and this is an advertisement- they want you to buy the dvds to show how they corrected the problem. and obviously they corrected it or they wouldnt have made a video on it.
kayjmaz 4 years ago
Jesus.
BlackHorseProduction 4 years ago
well, sometimes it isnt the horses fault.. thats why we call ourselfes riders and not passengers..

i have horse with the same problems ;(

No wonder the horse isnt going into the trailer, that girl is guna get nowhere tugging the poor horse like that! and also that trailer looks tiny, i wouldnt wana go it!!
silly clueless people
xxxxxxxxlxxxxxx 4 years ago
uurm i think they probably know a little more than you and the trailer isnt that small as it doesnt have a partition in it .
runningoutofthem 4 years ago
People label their horses "problem horse" because they don't want to admit or take responsibility that their horses reactions are caused by "problem people". It is easier for them to blame a creature that can't defend its self.

It should be `` Horses with people problems `` Don`t you think?

SpiritFanNumber1 4 years ago
the've all got problemed pasts probs and wen yr throwing yr hands every wer there gonna shit them selves arent they?
not problem horse people i reokn shouldnt b allowed to even try n tell people to help xox
lulaball 4 years ago
i so disagree with you
on the trailer part, she should not tug on the rope and when the horse backs away, LET IT, then collect it again. LET THE HORSE BE WILLING TO FOLLOW YOU, NOT FORCE IT!
on the bridle one, dont smack the horse like that. maybe its not really smacking but the horse thinks its like its smacking!
the explaination and movie are totally different.
kansess 4 years ago
HOW DARE YOU PUT A TITLE LIKE THAT!!!!their not problem horses they have problem pasts. you have to understand u cant force them u need to understand. for proof watch the video <<Breathe>>. that title angers me and at the same time i wanna cry. so once again, HOW DARE YOU MAKE THAT TITLE!!!>:'(
horseluver171717 4 years ago
jesus christ love calm down
runningoutofthem 4 years ago
ok..this isnt exactly Problem Horses. title should be: Problem People. first off, dont just pull on a horse. Its just going to make them pull more. Pull release, pull release until the horse yeilds. These people need more schooling on how to handle these situations.
PnkPantherxEventr 4 years ago
i dont totally agree with this but the horse who was running away in the pasture probably just comes from his past like i have one horse who doesnt like to be caught but i dont know his past he might have been abused in his past...
got2lovehorses 4 years ago
I agree with this hestenemine. My yearling hears the halter when I grab it and nickers cause he LOVES to come out and be with me. None of my horses run away
grahamquacker 4 years ago
Gimme my Reiner Klimke and Clinton Anderson. I have a coming two year old that will be in a year of good old ground work before she has even one rider on board. I want my "FILLY!!!" to be sound of mind and body 20 years from now. I don't see horses with problems, I see owners who are being disrespected ;) Find a good trainer if you have a young\untrained horse or purchase a good old trained gelding. Remember "Young and New = Black & Blue (for horse and rider)
mkeilers 4 years ago
wow.. this is how more people should understand horses, I have learned this way. Its makes for a bestfriend horse
cowgirlranger 4 years ago
Anyone else notice that most of the problems are coming from the handlesr?
mayan998 4 years ago
i did i did!!! lol. yea i think it is b/c the ppl have a lack of confidence. if i was a horse i would never get on THAT trailer!! also b/c the handlers probably dont have the slightest clue what they're doing. sometimes you do have to be a little tough like in the beginning to lay down the law.
razrbladefaerie 4 years ago
I don't really agree with this..

Hi
What is it that you don't agree with?
Ellen O
hestenemine 5 years ago
I agree. The horse is oviously scared of something and the people cn force to horse into doing what their afraid of...they have to work with them to face their fears ina calm way.
