I think that we might be the only ones in the universe, our universe, as like every person is in his little world that he creates, or persieves. I came to this conclusion thinking about how animals might see the world we see (or don't see - would be a more interesting situation), how plants feel, how the Earth feels energy shifts etc.
Right. And this would leave life forms in other universes built using completely different physical laws asking the same question as us - how did they end up in a universe where everything about their universe's basic structures seemed fine-tuned to allow them to exist?
In other words, this is all about understanding that there are many more universes than the one we find ourselves to be living within. Have you watched
Yes, I don't know if I have seen that one that video. I have fallowed you genre since almost the start have talk to a few times. What do we, humans, really know we only know what we were taught or we learned through self experimentation and our teacher knew less then there teachers. We were just born here. I will check out the link I think you left.
Do you think that inter dimensional travel is possible; I mean to the dimension above this one? But that would have unprecedented effects on us four dimensional creatures.
You are totally right. I agree we are all one in one same in mind. I guess thats where great minds think alike comes from. None the less i still think everything is figments of our imagination. We live in a null, where nothing at all but our thinking exists :)
i think, i'm the one who created the world, in my mind. Everything is just spills of my emotions and thoughts... Nobody nor anything really exists untill i think so. Thats jsut my opinion, No need to protest.
Also on an unrelated topic don't you think that the universe could be a living thing and that galaxies are it's cells. because cells that we know of are just matter not really special except for the DNA. which is not actually special if you think of it. It's all just matter. It's just some molecules causing chemical reactions. So it is possible that the universe itself is alive. But can only control itself as much as we can control our own cell division.
Actually I remember watching an experiment where they froze methane and other gasses and organic mater started to accumulate so maybe water is not needed.
I's agree with you mostly, Rob. Except for the water being necessary part. I believe that may be true for early life. And then creatures learn to live without it less and less. Like a baby in the womb that later comes out.
As I say in this video, I've always believed that there should be other ways of expressing matter and energy that would still right be called "life", the question just becomes whether those are in our universe or in other parts of the multiverse. And I've talked about the transhuman movement a few times in this vlogs now, that would certainly be one of their goals - to eventually find ways to move consciousness into organized patterns and structures that don't require water.
"fine tuned"?! for a smart dude you are overlooking the fact that only .0000000000000000000000000000000000073 is habitable for life! Want proof that this universe is not "fine tuned" by a magic man in the clouds? watch?v=tCKqj-2JXZg . I've lost much respect for you in this video.
Magic man in the clouds? Where do you get the idea this is about magic? This is about the multiverse of universes with different basic physical laws, and our universe is just one of an astonishing number of other possible universes. Or do you disagree with mainstream physicists like Brian Greene who are now willing to say they believe those other universes are just as real as our own?
Sorry, I was a bit hostile but saying the universe is "fine tuned" is a creationist argument for a creator as it invokes that someone fine tuned it. Perhaps it would be better to say, it was randomly tuned by the forces separating from their "super symmetry" as the universe expanded. Side note, Its hard to imagine that there is a new universes created for every fork in the road of everyones actions or non actions including one where i gain the ability to destroy the Omniverse because I sneezed.
Sorry didn't have my coffee and lost the ability to read and comprehend. Sorry. You say "our unique fine tuned" etc and thus giving way that there are other universes that are tuned differently with endless combinations of basic physical laws. and no where did you invoke that a "magic man" tuned them but in Omniverse there is a chance that he did, at latest in one universe, right?
Well said Rob. We could be staring at one of the most amazing images of our life and our mind will not let us believe it. It is like UFO photos. I see the little blurry dots in the sky and I think.. hmm.. I wonder what that is. Then I see a close up of one and I think.. bah.. CGI.
does life need form in the 3rd dimension to be called life? This is where the modern, secular materialist mythologies are insufficient at explaining Alien's and space travel. We tend to think of them as extraterrestrial life when really it is more than likely that these life forms only appear to us as energy and information. In fact thoughts ideas and feelings are a life force unto themselves. 'Men cannot live by bread alone' - 'It's life Jim but not as we know it'.
do ya know what mythology is,its the study of myths,do ya know what a myth is ,its a fucking story, look you can not belive anything on the internet today .people use photoshop all the time to fuck with ya,if ya seen it with your own eyes, still the mind can fuck with ya to ,lets pay attention to our lives around us and fuck the stories of the old,and lets make some stoies for our future idiots ,look you live in 3d ,so stop tring to explain 4d shit ,cause we only can explain 3d2d1d thats all.
Some people prefer videos that are just music text and images so I thought I'd try one out. Always willing to experiment with new formats for presentation!
first water is everywhere it makes a great system for transportation, carbon links to everything, there are other systems that will do but not as well,
Have you ever heard of David Pratt? He did an article "Ufo's the pyshic dimension" explaining how some, or most of the accounts of UFO's and alien visitations defy physics, 1 account had a women experience an alien abduction and be able to recall it competely while it was observed that she was sitting on a bus, on lookers said she was just staring into "space." Other accounts have them moving through solid matter, or just ET's appearing "surprised" that people see them and vanish on the spot.
Wow yeah! Indeed, I thought they were computer-animated in the first place!

Its not that the universe so fine tuned to us its that we have evolved here and so we are fine tuned to it.

I personally think that we have an anthropic bias with respect to water's necessity with life.
I personally think life is possible without water but it'll be vastly different.
rmeddy1 2 years ago
The thing is that water is just so damn simple and does its job so friggin well.
There might be life based on things other than carbon and not reliant on water, but we'd probably out preform them.
Water and carbon are just the best at what they do.
SgtHydra 2 years ago
what do water and carbon do that they are best at?

Dissolving substances and forming long, strong bonds, respectively.
Diamond is the strongest substance known to man for a reason.
Carbon beats the stuffing out of every other possible substitute.
