Any "old" Porsche could beat a bike that was never one of the fastest bikes in the world. I don't know when this program was recorded but a '99 road spec R1 could never be a match to any Porsche in a circuit. If they put a '07-> R1 in the equation, now that would be a different story.

im a car driver and a motorbike rider, i ride my motorbike because i get to and from work for £10 a week i cant do that in my car (100MPG on bike) it cost £200 and tax is £15 ,gear was £500 so for about £750 +£10 a week i get to and from work, my other bike cost £1500 and goes nearly 180MPH and 0-60 in around 3 seconds costs like £70 to tax, cant get a car that does that for anywhere near close financially. If i had millions in the bank i would get a porsche i dont so i ride a bike

Conversely, with more long high speed corners, the bike would most likely win Yet again, put the worlds fastest bike against even a decent racer(DBR9 or C6.R) I'm sorry to say, the car will always win.

lol i agree with you superbike1981, If that was drag race then that porche would have stumbled. If you look at the price instead, then the matterof the fact is the porche looses and the BRILLIANT R1 wins.

im sorry but clarkson is a tosser, ofc bikes are x10 faster than cars, yes granted cars are and always will be faster round the bends. but clarkson hates bikes and since hes the presenter it just has "staged" written all over it
