hi, you have a very intersting proyect, i study electronic enginnier at UPAO here in Trujillo Perú and i'm making a sistem to red 4 data and control 4 digital outputs using an usb port, i'm using pic18f2550 its the same that 4550 but more small. well, contininue like this.

Nice job. I did a similar system using a DSP and a Bluetooth connection.
The user interface was controlled by a Labview custom program.
Pay attention to the classic NTC: the characteristic function could change irreversibly if u put it working at high temperature for a long time.
