Actually, they were not asking for increases (beyond the standard cost of living), but just didn't want things taken away. Lots of modern disputes are about this, and it is a rough coarse. I'm a union worker as well, and people will be as they are, some are lazy ,some are hard working. It may protect the lazy too much, but it protects the hard working as well. Sometimes the combo of lazy and suck up trumps hard working, and they get moved up anyway.
Unions encourage and breed loafers. People who work hard doesn't need a union to protect them because every company would pay top dollar for them. It's all about scarcity. Unions are so unproductive and inefficient. Once you pass your probation period, you can stop working and still get paid and all the benefits. it's a joke. Where are the incentives? none. And yes they are asking for an increase. They dare to ask for a raise and more benefits when they are making 26$/Hr to drive a truck around?

Unions encourage and breed loafers. People who work hard doesn't need a union to protect them because every company would pay top dollar for them. It's all about scarcity. Unions are so unproductive and inefficient. Once you pass your probation period, you can stop working and still get paid and all the benefits. it's a joke. Where are the incentives? none. And yes they are asking for an increase. They dare to ask for a raise and more benefits when they are making 26$/Hr to drive a truck around?

I had to go to one of the transfer stations yesterday. It was my first time doing so. They were only letting 1 car in every 15 minutes. Completely unlawful. The cop that was on site did nothing. It would have meant that with all the cars in front of me that I would have waited 2 and half hours just to drop my garbage off. CUPE and it's members can suck a dead man's dick.

Why dont we get to the picket sites before most of them do in the morning and block them from entering and pull the same stunts and have each picketer wait 15 min before they can picket. i moved out of T.O. when the last garbage strike happened. I now live in a community that has private services (NON-UNION). Beautiful happy place.
