Goethe war vermutlich Kindesvergewaltiger - wie diesen kranken Text anders verstehen.? Gretchen hat er wohl auch vernascht und in den Knast gebracht.

Dass der Täter in Gestalt des „guten Vaters“ dem Opfer einrede, es bilde sich die Tat nur ein."

i forgoot to say that there is a film abot hermann prey called "stille meine liebe". in this film you`ll find the most emotional recording of the "erlkönig" ever!!!!!buy it!=)

why did you load it up in such a bad quality???there are lots of cd with the "schwanengesang" on the market...so don`t buy any mix-cd or stuff like that! and if you want to hear other "lieder" than the schwanengesang you have to buy "willkommen und abschied" thats a new cd with great recordings from one of the last concerts in japan!!

It's really unfortunate that the sound quality isn't better--I was fortunate enough to hear Hermann Prey sing this in person and this interpretation is so extraordinary--really gives me chills the way he gets across the panic in the child's voice. In my opinion it doesn't get any better than this--I wish he had been able to have Gerald Moore accompanying him

Prey is marvelous, like Fischer-Dieskau in this lied. I too love Anton Dermota in opera, especially Mozart. Second only to Fritz Wunderlich or Jussi Björling (in Italian opera, but also not in lieder, alas--compaire the latter's Adelaide (Beethoven) with that of Wunderlich where this fact is painfully apparent). I've always found Prey's the best, so far, that is:)

I agree with you (if you think of the same singer... Fischer-Dieskau am I right ?). And I still think Hermann Prey is an extraordinary musician, both are from the greatest

Yes, I can help. It is on the CD The Singers - available from Amazon and the price is quite reasonable. Great songs included on this CD.
