Very interesting, thanks for uploading! I thought there was only the one recording 1/9/38 with Stephane G. playing piano, but... if you've found a new one, congratulations! This sounds very much LIKE Django & Stephane, but I don't think it is... Just my opinion, thanks again. S
What instrument or instruments would you need to know to play his songs? I'm guessing violin and guitar of course but are there any other instruments?
@Smoothbluehero Django also played with clarinetist Hubert Rostaing and later even saxophones. The usual line up tho is: Melody instrument (violin/ clarinet), Rhythm guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass and thank the lord, django rarely used percussion instruments in his ensemble.
@Smoothbluehero A Selmer style guitar is a must have! Gitane guitars are the most affordable and best sounding for the money, about $700 US. I have had 2 and both are great, sold one to a friend I play this style with. You need to use Argentine or John Pearse Nuage strings to get the sound. Robin Nolan and Dix Bruce have good book/cd combos to get started.
@HayenMill Fell in love with this recording and then saw your messages about a full version and wondered if I could also get a copy... or if you could direct me to how I could find it. Thanks for posting even this much... lovely.
