  • Trippiest song ever recorded. Mitchell's drumming is phenomenal. He sounds like Elvin Jones.

  • lights off. full screen. amazing

  • hauntingly beautiful....

  • We use to play the album at 78 and, with a little resistance to the turntable, slow it down close to 66, double speed, to understand the starship transmissions. Great video work for this creation. Thanks!

Starfleet to scoutship, please give your position, Over.

I'm in orbit around the third planet from the star called

    The sun. Over.

You mean it's the earth? Over.

Positive. It is known to have some form of intelligent

    Species. Over.

I think we should take a look.

  • 'and you will never hear surf music again' - Amen, Praise the Jimi!

  • Nice.

    Thanks.

  • Hey, Great Job on this video... captures a place in time. If you were there, you know it's memory. who could forget the 60's if you lived through it?

  • This man and his drummer and band changed my life for the better as a person and as a deeper better playing musician..

  • @drummerbadass1 You are absolutely right, bitch.. You became a hopeless dope addict fucked up on acid around the time HENDRIX took the world by storm. That's when your life became shitty and has been one big pile of DOG SHIT from that moment forward. After 43 years of staying high as a kite, now you want to try to get your life together after you lost EVERYTHING.!! You were supposed to be a professional drummer, but now you are on YOUTUBE everyday typing in childish bullshit. Baa Ha Haa.

  • @drummerbadass1 Oh, by the way, i didn't know a black man helped change your life, After you talked about just how much you hate black folks.. Maybe your were high that night.. I can tell you still get fucked up drugs because your words never make sense.. Poor lil JUNKIE JEFF.. lol lol .. You don't know your ass from a hole in the wall. Maybe that's why you insist on acting like a child, you have missed the best years of your life getting high, so now you are trying to recapture your youth.

  • @Poppalarge86 Hey Sambo. You will never be an inspiration..Thanks..

  • @Poppalarge86 ya break this shithead down.

  • Unique performing genius on the electric guitar. Only Stevie Ray Vaughan came anywhere near sounding like him and he's dead too. It isn't fair. Even the great FZ died far too young.

  • I love that there are no dislikes

  • That part at 1:21 sounds very good and very familiar i dont know why and from where RIP Jimi

  • Eargasm, Soulgasm...

  • Nobody in '66 knew what a Strat could do. Bloomfield said that he saw Hendrix doing all this "stuff" out of a little amp in Greenich Village before he made the trip with Chas to England. Every great guitarist, or musician for that matter, is unique--but Jimi was on a different wavelength. The first 2 albums were put together before Jimi became heavily dependent on drugs, especially alternating between speed to get going and downers and booze to get rest. Killer combo then. Still is. Dang.

  • @DonARen1950 STUPID ASS WHITE KID,GO DO SOME READING ASSFUCK HE WAS MURDERED BY HIS RACIST GREED WHITE AGENT.

  • people just don't know music,but strew them :)

  • That jazzy little intro right here man...thats the shit!

  • God give us Jimi back and we will give you Justin bieber :( R.I.P JIMI WE LOVE YOU !

  • @supexavi0424

God does not want Bieber, that's why he sent him to us... perhaps he is Satan, come to destroy us all lol. j/k

  • @thebuxleys hahahahahhahaha you're right ! hahaha

  • hendrix is alive in my heart

  • This is such a great song. How many of you were inspired to start playing guitar by this song/album?

  • hendrix did not die, god just got sick of being on earth.

  • la piu' bella song di tutti i tempi!!!

  • quite...

  • well...

  • The Dreamers!!!!

    uummmmm Eva Green....

  • this music plus weed= magic

  • You wanna know something interesting? Jimi died at age 27. He was left handed.

Kurt Cobain played his guitar left handed. He died at age 27.

You know who else plays guitar left handed? Justin Bieber. Wake me up in 2021.

  • @GizmoFan1 I won't even mentioned the last person you said something about.. just don't do it again in a Hendrix song please. Don't be stupid you are smarter than that.

  • @Andromelian OK...

  • @GizmoFan1 if that happens in the future i beg to god destroy us with might and without any pity in 21 12 12 (and for Americans 12 21 12)

  • @89Pigsofdarkness Nah man that's when we will have a new beginning. Everywhere in the world you're gonna' hear this and Within You Without You and we're all going to be saved spiritually! Ya' dig man?

  • @RedWolf3487 Sounds good to me man!

If all you fella's dig on Hendrix, please groove over to my page and check out my tracks! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

  • @GizmoFan1 Yea..but i dint think he deserves that kind of attention..if your a lefty and die at 27...your part of the club- Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain...all three had more talent in their pinkies than bieber in his whole body

  • this is what you hear as you pass into the next world in the afterlife.not stoned but beautiful.

  • The riff at 0:43 made me ejaculate.

  • Ever played this at 45 rpm? seriously scary shit xD

  • No, Jimi Hendrix didn't die, he's just giving god guitar lessons

  • gimme some acid or shrooms...i got the weed and beer, and this song takes me to my happy place

  • One of my favorite psychadelic tunes. Great video!!

  • Although your world wonders me, with your majestic superior cackling hen. Your people I do not understand, so to you I must put an end. And you'll never hear surf music again. Wow, Jimi was ahead of his time. How prolific these words are today!!!

  • cosmic video for cosmic music!!! Jimi the alien <3

  • Such an innovative and amazing sound!

  • For your knowledge: The third stone/planet from our sun is our beautiful Earth.

Conclusion: The Great Jimi Hendrix was living on our very own stone :-)

    Emarga from Sweden 2011-12-30

  • @TheEmarga duh! we managed to figure it out on our own!

  • Look for Jimi's earthly return in 2012!

  • ubertrooper6300 huh? Redding was an astoundingly mediocre bass player and Hendrix had little desire to continue playing with him. He was just imposed on Hendrix by Chandler.

  • @PathosDistanz he dont sound so mediocre to me! who the fuck r u!

  • @carrier3232 the bass line is a very simple drone that anyone could play. Hendrix himself was bored playing with Redding, who frequently could not hold his ground with Hendrix and was miles from the same musical hemisphere. Hence Jimi's asking Billy Cox to play with him in the Band of Gypsies. Now that is a bassist.

  • @carrier3232 O, and have you ever read of any bassist in the world stating that Noel Redding is one of their favorite bassists? I haven't . . . Many of the bass tracks on ELL were done by Hendrix because he was dissatisfied with Redding's playing.

  • I love the bass line in this song...it's a shame Noel left them in '69. Actually, on that note, I wish more people had respected the Experience as a whole, not just as individuals, because, along with Jimi and Noel not getting along, it was said that Noel also felt unappreciated, since Hendrix and Mitchell would often steal the show with their respective talents.

Anyway, Noel was great with the Experience, especially in this song.

  • Great video of Hendrix's classic.

  • as bill hicks said, jimi was dropped of and told show them what you can do and we will be back in 27 years!!!

  • Has anyone noticed that the main theme is the Coronation Street theme?

  • Happy 69th Birthday Jimi....Thanks for leaving us all of the great music that you did in such a short time for us...I'll meet you in the next world, and I won't be late!!

  • So beautiful!

When I meet the extraterrestrials the first thing I will ask them us to show me their music.

    Thanks!

  • @TheBadMoJoe Dude you know they are gonna break out Hendrix!!!!!

  • There were more than a few science fiction short stories written with the theme that Jimi Hendrix was ... not-of-this-world. He did things with a guitar, in total, the NO ONE has since been able to accomplish and top. John Mayer tries desperately to be Jimi Hendrix ...

  • heard it once and i knew this was my Fav Hendrix Song

  • In my late thirties I had to fine a new job. At the job I could where headphones. Jimi's "Third Stone", Rare Earth "I Know Im losing you, Iron Butterfly, old school R&B like Temptations "Take a Stroll through yr mind", Mcfadden "Aint no stopping me now", all long versions got me through with prayer and God got me through. Im in my fifties now and nothing sounds as sweet as these jams!

  • I dont belive in god, but if i did....he would be a black lefthanded guitarest.

  • @G33KJ0Ck Jimi himself DID believe in God. Just sayin' . . .

  • @G33KJ0Ck The Dreamers... its a shame no one will get the refrence

  • Do acid. Listen to this.

  • @Dude211212 I have,,,,many times, everything this genius did was trip music at it's finest!!!

  • Thats all I can say is WWoWW, and thank you!!!

Totally amazing in my head. This is by far the best home made video that I have ever seen. BeautifuL!!! and Thank you for sharing. I need some more of that.

  • Just pure divine, otherworldly, genius. Jimi Hendrix RIP

  • Satan i know ur watching can i sell my soul to you just to see hendrix live for like... the rest of eternity

  • @316BretHart316 that doesn't make any sense lol. Earth is the third stone from the sun

  • @WeMakeVideosToWatch lol yeah xD

  • Love the videos to this - just right for the music. Anything Hendrix is fine by me anyway, but the videos really are good with it.

  • Mitch Mitchell does some fine drumming on this set, never too over the top, always complimenting JImi's arrangements.Noel is even keeping up lol.

  • Thumbs up if you think Jimi Hendrix is the best of all time!!!

  • @johnny2x4x2 He sucks

  • @MartyFriedmanRulez66 thats why i have 86 thumbs up on my comment you suck go die in a ditch somewhere

  • 6 minutes and 51 seconds later i've landed back on the third stone from the sun.

  • 4:30 "....and you'll never hear surf music again"

And he was right. We didn't, at least I didn't !

Beause the Beach Boys never played at the Filmore.....East OR West !

    Stay high, Jimi

    Peace

  • Ive absolutely loved this song since about 2001. when i was 11.. I got the album and Ive loved it since.

  • @21ricky666 I was in 7th grade when i was introduced to Jimi. My sister bought me the B&W tshirt with his face emblazed on it. My science teacher sent me home with a note from the Principal saying "Please send your son to school in more appropriate dress" I wore it under my regular shirt from then on and took the outer shirt off during lunches and recess! It was 1969......

  • @MrTubejockey wow thats awesome! do you still have it?

  • @21ricky666 if i did it would be too small!!! BUT I have seen others that look the same, Go to Experience hendrix .com, I'm sure they have it! Peace, jimi

  • Thumbs up if you heard of this BEFORE the Audi TT advert.

  • ohhh yeah!!! i want some marijuana for enjoy this song

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kawabonzical song! Véritable hymne au voyage interstellaire. Jules Verne n'aurait pas imaginé meilleur ambassadeur que Jimi.

  • Stone Groove!

  • THE ULTIMATE WEED SONG!!!

  • @edgore82 I met Jimi through taking copious amounts of weed and acid at the same time, honest to god. He told me" Fill the skies with rainbows my son and melt the ground with the water from the sea".

  • Jimi was the Michael Jordan, Richard Pryor, Muhammed Ali, of the electric guitar! In other words, he was and still IS THE BEST!!!

  • im starting to think hendrix is not from this planet the way he plays

  • May I land my kinky machine...he's got a lot of humour

  • This song stopped a 3 day anxiety attack off a bad trip....Jimi is the most amazing man ever.

  • Que buen roola ahora mismo me voy a fumar yerba :)

  • He has the best sound. very original. i love this type of music

  • ~*~Much JimiLove And Many Blessings Always~*~;-)))

  • I can hear to this song on repeat for hours and days and never get bored of it

  • It always amazes me how Jimi can play the same notes at 0:43 and 5:16 yet make them feel so different.

  • Check out the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene, 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man.

  • POSSIBLY one o f th mst...

  • weird,astounding Jimmie!!Thumb up !!

  • great job, really a good job on an astonishing Jimmie song!!!!

  • Little known geek assumption: This space traveller was prevented from destroying the human race by Abin Sur, damaging Sur's craft and leading to Hal Jordan becoming the first Earthman Green Lantern.

  • i've never seen a trip so trippy...but,speaking seriously, this is a Jimi pearl,he makes his guitar take our souls for the a trip inside our minds, using only his incommensurable talent and his guitar, thumb up !!!

  • Yesterday i was spacing in the vondelpark Amsterdam.. Before i throwd up i heard this song in my head. It was really nice :D

  • So to you I shall put an end. Never hear surf music again.

  • Authentic psychedelia.

  • Third Stoned from the sun-up. -_0

  • its almost like the songs telling you, calm down man, everythings gonna be just fine

  • Jimmy Hendrix was the greatest Electric Guitar player to ever walk on a stage. But I did see a live show in the late 70's in San Francisco By a guy named Randy Hansen's (Machine Gun Tour) and he played "Third Stone From the Sun" to a very tough audience and he was given a standing ovation by the entire crowd for playing it live and perfectly to a tee according to the "Are you Experienced" version. It was incredible, better than any other "big name guitarist" that's ever tried

  • @sledawg You should watch Randy Hensen's version of "Machine Gun" right here on youtube. Completely mind-blowing and the most accurate cover of Hendrix ever! Trust me just watch!

  • Whoever put this together is a frickin' genius. A video worthy of the song!

  • Loved the music as well as the background. Epic trip!!

    Thanks Jimi !

  • RIP Jimi and thanks for sharing your incredible talent with us. You are definitely one of the greatest guitarist of all time!

  • Arguably the most mesmerizing Hendrix tune, I never grow tired of it, I sometimes play it 5 or 6 times in a row, the drum parts in the first 2:30 are the most tasty parts. Of course Jimi's legendary guitar, and vocals will never be equaled, you see so many artists from many musical genre's inspired by his music, even today. Truly a world altering human being.

  • whooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • What do it mean!

  • Wow ,awesome!

  • Zero dislikes? Not surprised at all.

  • best song ever

  • Hendrix stands atop the mountain shoulder to shoulder with Hampton/Hazell and defi the rarest of talents

  • ml3bianchi---"yeah you`re right bro"

  • who the heck was this guy?

  • @doox420 jimi hendrix man! he is the guitar god, he started out in 1967 and changed the music world forever untill he died in 1970, but hes still alive

  • @doox420 Too bad you never got to see him. The English language is insufficient to even begin to describe Jimi. He was an almost Spiritual 'force' moving across the earth. Skan' taku skan' skan'

  • hendrix is still alive, who will hear of justin bieber and all those talentless idiots of today in years to come

  • Get stoned. Listen to this.

  • @HighOnHerb

Listening is a way to getting stoned.

  • @HighOnHerb Damn right. When I was a teenager listening to this, I had never gotten stoned and I hated it. But now? Oh God, it's magic.

  • @HighOnHerb Done that a few times..great album.

  • @HighOnHerb Get Stoned, and Play this if you can.

  • @HighOnHerb F*** YESSHH!

  • @TheHippycrit check this out 2.... Frank Zappa-Apostrophe

  • @HighOnHerb what else? :D

  • This song illustrates how underrated Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding were; they actually made for a very solid rhythm section.

  • @lothartheterrible Vastly underrated in my opinion.

  • fantastica...

  • Never hear surf music again.

  • this video is just plain AWESOME!!!!!

  • Favorite Jimi Hendrix song of all time
