The fly becomes dizzy from the circular finger movements. Then it eventually falls over thinking the ground is the sky (flies don't have a feeling of touch in their wings, therefore, it can't tell that it is upside down). To keep the fly on it's back after it wakes up, you put the ball to make it think that it is walking, but it's weight on it's wings make it unable to fly off. Just wanted to put in some scientific evidence on how it works. ;)
