  • I think that they should still be showing Wordy in schools nowadays.

These songs have stayed with me all my life and now I have found them on YouTube I will be showing them to my kids.

You have to love Derrick Griffiths, he was in so many shows from my childhood.

  • I love this. The woman sounds so excited and posh. I love regional accents (I have one) but her voice is wonderful.

  • Her name is Julie Stevens , she did most Look and Read educational songs!

  • derick grififfs is a legend

  • Oh my god this is amazing! I'd forgotten about Think Big! Lol! Thanks for uploading this haha.

  • why do americans call a 'full stop' periods?

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was pretty sure that the BBC was a British thing. But who knows, maybe the BBC was just broadcasting and US feed. IDK. Anyway, American's don't use the term "full stop" for the word period. We just use the word period. The only time, to my knowledge, that americans used the term "full stop" was with telegraphs.

  • Yup, it's official, I just checked out "Look and Read" on IMDB and it states that this program is a UK product broadcasted on the BBC, ergo the term "full stop" used here is a British idea.

  • when a sentence ends it 'stops' so calling it a 'full stop' makes sense to me .

to say 'period'- just dosent make any sense - a period is a length of time and dosent really imply a stop or the end.

and of course periods is something women have each month.

  • I'm sorry, I actually misread your comment. You are fully correct in saying that Americans use the word "period" instead of "full stop".

I do understand what you mean with the expressions though. Saying "full stop" is rather intuitive to speech as you illustrated in your post. American's use the word "period" because here, "period" is the name of the punctuation mark ".", as "semicolon" is the name for this punctuation mark ";". We've always used the term "period", so it makes sense to us.

  • @GpD79 Cool - what do the Spanish call it? It's just as relevant.

  • It seems like the Americans have no sense. xD

  • i'd forgotten this but it comes flooding back now!

  • I never thought I would ever see this particular one again.. Noone ever remembers the Think Big one except me! Thanks for the memories!

  • magic e is the best

  • Dog Detective is on here on Yotube, search for it!

  • He's on here, but he's not doing the "Chasing AR" song (from Badger Girl, I think).

    That was CLASS!

  • I'm almost sure the guy singing is Derek Griffiths - but who's the woman? We used to rip the piss out of her at school something rotten!!! Now where's Dog Detective? Get him on here! Chasing "ar", I believe... what a wonderful sound!

  • We need a website or something dedicated to this groovy chick!!!

We HAVE to find Dog Detective - that was her real moment of glory...

  • think big big big at the beginnig was my fave!

  • I love the woman's voice. Bring back RP!

  • LOL the woman's voice is so dramatic.

  • I think she was auditioning for a big role!

  • Great animation! I loved this one in the stories! I loved everything about Look and Read! Its brill!
