  • Fast for a few months then slow as hell after minimal use.

  • my HP 550 turned really slow after using it for a while. so i restored it after 3 years, and it now runs really fast! great laptop

  • @MrZayun how did u do it?

  • Nope no 4.5 hours. Basic use, you may get 2 hours - 2 and 1/2 hours if youre lucky. After two years of light use, the streaming and web page loading is crawling. I used the recovery feature to set it back to factory settings - STILL really really slow. Up until last month it worked great. Looks great, was great but going downhill after its out of warranty on 1 and a half years of light use (2 to 6 hours per week, if that). The recomended F11 Key Recovery Manager never worked. $500+ wasted.

  • Is there place where I can put memory card from photoaparat?

  • I forgot: 400 GB HDD...xD

    greets from Berlin

    Blakackmann

  • I have the HP 550 too, but mine is quite better:

    3 GB DDR2-RAM

    2.0 GHz INTEL Celeron Prozessor

Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family with 312 MB

this PC runs with Microsoft Windows XP Home Premium Sevice Pack 3

and I can play all the cool games like: -GTA San Andreas (Minimum Graphics) fps: 45 -Just Cause (Middle Graßhics) fps: 30-35 -Warhammer 40.000 Dawn of War Dark Crusade (Maxed Out) fps: 30 -Counter Strike Source (Maxed Out) fps: 45 -Age of Empires 3 (Maxed Out) fps: 30

  • @Blakackmann No yours sucks cause it has a celeron not a core 2 duo

  • @austnash

Sure my Laptop sucks...i got an brandnew Gamer-PC, so i do not use my laptop anymore...

  • @Blakackmann Lol thats good. What kind did you get

  • @austnash

its not that high-end, but good...

    AMD PhenomIIx4 965BE@4x3.20Ghz OC 4x4.00Ghz

    8192MB DDR3-RAM 1600Mhz

    nVidia geforce 480gtx 1512MB GDDR5-RAM DX11 1848Mhz

    2x1TB HDD Western digital

So this PC is good for gaming and bussiness...^^

  • even in the time that this video was uploaded in, that laptop sucked, i mean really sucked, and this interviewer interviews like its a super pc, what an idiot... Noob... its not even good, I think it was the worst laptop you could get at that time... well there is celeron laptops, but come on, that laptop doesn't worth a shit...

  • witch ones work, i mean for the newer once? i need it for 3d modeling and animating....

  • Este hijo de puta no sabe nada de computadores, yo puedo jugar guitar hero 3 y pes2010 en ese notebook y sin problemas.

  • wtf i have a hp550 and mine doesnt have a dual core, i have a single core 1,78 gHz ???

ive also got an light scribe dvd burner? this doesnt make any sense

  • This guy got payed realy good, if it was true he'd say: HP sucks, period

  • This guy is wrong it can play some 3d games very good i can play all the counter stirke games at almost 60 fps most of the time and it works well with most of the source games i just wouldn't try it with games like crysis,it's a great laptop for internet and bussness.

  • Do you know if I can play CrossFire on it?

  • Yes,it plays at about 35-40 fps but why would you want to play that counter strike ripoff?

  • Is 35-40 fps fast?

And I play CrossFire because I like it, and Counter Strike looks so fake..

  • yes 35-40 fps is pretty fast.

  • So I'll be able to play Crossfire without lagg?

  • Yeah.

  • My specs are for this laptop:

    4gb ram

    250gb harddrive

    1.8ghz processor core 2 duo

    intel chipset 965 media accelerater

and i can run nearly any game with no lag at all like call of duty 4 halo 2 need for speed shift

great laptop worth buying especially for gamers

  • yeah, i'm playing that on this comp :)

  • You are playing CrossFire on this HP 550 laptop?

Because I've seen many people say its a great laptop but not for gaming..

  • you probably can cos i can run call of duty 4 with no lag

  • Okay, thank you.

  • is that laptop good for a student? or the Toshiba satellite L300 PLEASE SOME BODY ANSWER ME QUICKLY

  • This should be much cheaper. It is excellent because it is student/business friendly, and, what I believe is the best part, is that it is only 5.5 pounds!

I have a 15 pound laptop that I use for school sometimes and its a drag carry around.

  • i have this laptop, its brilliant

  • yeah they r working perfect!

  • i have the hp 550, vista. i have all kinds of games on it, GTA San Andreas, Fifa, 18 wos pttm,.....Its great!

  • are they working good

  • Thats wat i wanted to know thanks!

  • yeah, graphics really don't seem to be that much of a problem, this guy seems to exaggerate a bit. just my opinion.

  • @pepi28plami18 what exactly is the specs for your hp 550 because mine is fresh and vista is running slow...very slow.

  • god this thing sucks

  • can i upgrade the video card

  • No.

  • is this computer good for games or something like that???plz ansver...

  • not really

  • nope this one isnt good for gaming..

  • if u get the 2ghz proc version then upgrade the ram to 4gb

  • dude... comparing MJ to a graphic card?

    weak

  • True, I retract.

  • Nice review. :) I'm getting this later this week.

  • heey ladies..

i want to know is this the

    Hewlett Packard Pavilion 550 ??

  • Buy the HP 530. Fantastic laptop. I hear the keyboard on the 550 is not as good.

  • I've just ordered this laptop today and after reading some of the comments on here i wish i had got anthoer one instead.

  • I have a question...

i`ve got this notebook as a gift, but i can change it for a better one payin the money difference. My budget is really low, but i want to know if this notebook will run World of Warcraft (it´s my only vice lol)

    The notebook comes with:

Celeron P550 2.0GHz (no dual core)

    1 GB ram

    Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

Please answer, i´ve got little time to choose =)

  • Typo at 4:20. The code to look for is H24-15031SB. Not "H24-1501SB".

  • this notebook is better than 530 hp because I have the same 530 hp and is very slow and less video card, ram and space

I recommend that the 550 hp

    own experience

and for the sake of you

  • does it have an integrated microphone?

  • HP 530 is better [2] much better

  • how so?

  • HP 530 is better

  • how so?

  • ma ce l'ha la webcam integrata????

  • In this notebook you can play Stepmania :D

  • Don't now why inglisch is so exhausting language, so more words are going from his mouth and sometimes I have a feeling he says barrely nothing.

  • Just bought it. I installed Windows XP. The only problem I have is that after XP loads, the hotkeys for screen brightness (Fn+F7 & Fn+F8) don't work anymore. Also when I plug the AC cable brightness decreases and when I'm on battery it increases, which is the opposite of what should happen. Anybody knows how to fix this? I assume it is from the graphics driver (downloaded from HP site). Do you have the same problem in Ubuntu?

  • no, all hotkeys work perfectly. also the power setting etc

  • Hi biawak, I just got one of these today and done just the same as you, Vista lasted about 20 minutes on mine too.

One question, I can't get the hot keys for the brightness to work, do they work on yours?

  • hi kevin,

the brightness hotkey works perfectly on mine -installed with ubuntu 8.10. I didn't need to tweak te setting or something like that, just out of the box. I just need to press either lower/brighter lamp plus the [f] function key to make it works. Or perhaps this is an XP specific problem, then.

  • biawak, you're my hero! Having moved on to this from a (very old) Mac, I wasn't pressing the fn key!

I'm using Ubuntu too by the way, and it does all work perfectly.

  • glad to help :) Like I said, it's a great laptop for that price tag. Upgrading the memory is recommended -all unix based systems, including mac os, love RAM. I put 2 GB extra (so 3GB total) and it works perfect.

  • looks like you know a thing or two. What about video(movies), is it okay, i meen the picture??

    Thanks.

    Denmark...Morten

  • well certainly there are enough competitors out there with nicer resolution and better image production. for this price tag you shouldn't expect magic. (it's 1024 by 768 by the way)... i would advise you to pay a visit to a local store and just give it a test... i do mostly text editing and internet browsing, so i cannot really say something on this....

  • under ubuntu all works perfectly out of the box. pm me if you need the correct driver for xp. I tried to post it here but somehow it didn't get through.

  • thank you guys. I eventually fixed the problem by installing the hotkeys driver/program. Everything works well now and I'm very satisfied by my HP 550. Great laptop. Perfect for what I need.

  • Just bought this laptop and installed ubuntu 8.10 on it. Works out of the box like a charm. With Vista everything went too slow. So, finally Vista lasted only 20 min before I decided to reformat everything :-) Wireless works great under Ubuntu, so does bluetooth, SD-reader, DVD, and even all my peripherals like webcam, printer etc. Highly recommended. Not with M$ Vista though. (who needs windows these days, by the way)

  • Does the keyboard rattle? somebody told me that when u press the Enter key, the whole keyboard sinks in a bit in the area of Enter key. Does that happen with your model?

  • This doesn't occur to me. But that's likely will vary as it is a subject of individual experience and depends how much force you put in every keystroke. But in general it is advisable to give yourself a test at local store if you considering buying it. Given the price tag however this is an entry level one and not likely suitable for heavy user. That said, this model imho values more than its price.

  • if i buy this will i be able to play some css without lag ??

  • does anybody know which dockingstation fits on it?

  • this guy is idiot and dont know anything about computers

  • I wouldn't go as far and call him an idiot but I don't like his reviews either. Very superficial. I can find out what ports it has from the specs, I do know how to read. If somebody makes a review it better tell me something I don't know.

  • no webcam though

  • cool laptop :) (for what i need as laptop) and it's kinda cheap too :D

  • now i have it i don't feel happy anymore :s

i get stuck under keys while typing fast

my space bar seems like it's coming out

just meh wish i never bought it :(

(to bad other laptop was sold out )

  • the spec sounds crap

  • I'm going to have this notebook in March 2009!

  • I already have it,and he do all job for me.

  • pretty similar to my 6820s

  • i have 6820s and its nothing as this shity 550

  • ye true. only thing matter that it can run crysis xD :D

ut still... jut few details are similar to 6820s.

    do u have 17" or 15.4"?

  • 17" with dedicated 256mb ati video, 2 gb ram, 2.0 ghz core2duo

  • this notebook is cool...

  • Look like people just busted people out of vista I think vista is for playing hardcore games and xp is for normal game and getting some business done

  • puta madre para que demonios PONEN SUBTITULOS EN INGLES si el pinche video esta en ingles

  • sin contar ke esta mal subtitulado, tiene muchos errores...but good video anyway, about the laptop...mmmm it does what it has been designed to...

  • hey iam using this laptop right now .. no .. its actually the older one. its HP 530. Its alright if you're on a budget. Not fancy at all. Keyboard and mouspad suck in a way that its not very comfortable. But hey you eventually get used to it. Iam in uni so i can get my work done on it. Its very light and portable though.

  • google for HP 6820s, and ther's a laptop for your money, same design but with 17" display, 2Ghz core2duo,2gigs of ram minimum, dedicated graphics, and many more....

  • XP arrghhh it burns *eyes burn becuase of XP*

  • Way better then Vista ;).

  • Tough the PC sucks.. 1GB of ram.. poor poor HP with their overpriced items..

  • vista killed my brain before my eyes it didnt even get to those bahahaha

  • Nice notebook, but does not have wireless n

And, at 4:23 it should read H24-15031SB

  • Lol get the Acer 6930 from newegg that sucker can run all the new games except for Crysis at high settings hehehe.

  • fast.... wow 1.4 ghz

  • That's one horrible notebook. The ONLY thing I'd use it for would be for simple things like word documents.

  • get a netbook

  • that note book sucks

  • nice

  • our company just updated us to this laptop and im loving it. its the best , these things never slow down or freez even with running Remote Citrix and 2 OS systems on it. 10 Stars.

  • cute notebook

  • This freaking computer is awesome. It can run fucking Doom. How awesome is that? lol.

  • 1 gig??? thats not enough for vista.

  • i have 1 gig... works fine.

  • not realy

  • when i had 1 gig it did work fine but it was always at 80% and that unexeptable considering it was at idle. trust me, the min for even slightly intense stuff is 2 gigs. now i have 2.5.

  • 256mb is enuf to run it

512 will do run it better

1gb will be smoother and less lag

2gb will be minimum for games

4gb will be recommended for intense games games and multimedia

  • no one obliged you to run vista on this laptop. that vista is already preinstalled doesnt mean that you cannot replace it with something better. i upgrade to 3GB and use ubuntu. works like a charm. installation went even faster than the 'preinstalled vista' that comes with it

  • i know, im using linux mint right now, and im getting rid of vista for linux xp for the compadability.

  • that really is for business lol

  • fail you were third

  • Cool features.

  • asshole I hate you

What's the point of going first???

    prick.
