In reply to AmarisGrey - Misirlou is used in Egypt & Lebanon and other middle-eastern places as the music for belly-dancers. * Mark appears to use quite a few tunes with Israeli &/or Arabic origins. * I believe that Mark & associates also played as "the E Serenes" for a while. *
I got interested in eastern European music because Andy Irvine was such a big fan and I respect him as a musician. I've been listening to a lot of Askon and they're Serbian. This piece is definitely more Greek sounding, the difference is apparent. I like both types but there is a lot of drama in the comments of their videos between Serbs and Macedonians. I think the music doesn't give a shit, it just wants to be enjoyed. I love this group, too bad they split up.
You know what I love? When people who comment on these videos have an educated opinion, like yourself. It restores my hope that maybe humanity isn't breeding itself stupid.
i believe they just went to a new band with more musicians called "wine and alchemy". i havent been to a ren faire since '08 but i believe thats what they were doing then.

E) JENNY O’CONNOR
F) JOSHUA AMYX
G) Circa Paleo
&
H) Ophelia Tzighan
These people (musicians & dancers) & bands are all interrelated.

For the folks that don't know, Misirlou is a very old song. Older than Pulp Fiction.
I love E Muzeki. Have three of their CD's, not a bad song in the bunch. Was not lucky enough to see them IRL. My loss.

I love E Muzeki... easily one of my favorite bands. Both Mark and Jenny have hardly comparable grasps on their instruments.
