@JPPMJC67 Rifles are probably locked away in their guncage, typical security assignments do not require assault rifles. If I remember correctly, the main security hubs were quickly annihilated at the beginning, and virtually all of those who came in contact with the necros were killed, and nobody knew what was going on until it was too late.

Flamethrowers wouldn't be an 'official' weapon, it exists as an engineering/mining tool. In other words, an improvised weapon.

I'm not understanding this. Either this movie is inconsistent with the storyline from Dead Space or I missed something. How did this happen so fast? That is the first sample the Irishimura has, but they haven't even had time to examine it yet. From what I gathered in the game, the planet was very rich and had multiple samples on board even after the Marker come aboard. I guess they just skipped alot huh.

@rpgamer94 Well, you have to think, this event happend right after Dead space extraction or basicly it happen very sort after but yes it is very confusing, just remember the first necromorph breakout happen only three days after the marker came onboard, and this movie starts precisely after those three days. then it tells you the sort story of how the crew was slaughtered, and ends with the arrivel of the USG Kellion, whitch starts the Dead space game :D Hope this helped :D

The scienctist and engineers in the other hand, they belived it was just some alien artifact, that had some sort of psychic effect on humans, whitch it had, it gave weak minded people dementia and made them go crazy. If you read Dead space Martyr, you'll learn alot more about the Marker and its powers.
