It's caused by breaking and heating of breaking discs, you can see it when gas pedal is not pressed and engine changes it's sound (slowing down) not some bullshit IR light man!
This doesn't really show much to be honest, would be great to see it after say 10-15 laps like an F1 does on tyres. Maybe longer because these are more durable.
Road America was a great track for doing this because the long straights really tax the brakes. But another big this was tire deflection - its interesting to watch how much of the car's movement is from that.
