  • Thank you for the lesson im trying to learn this all so I dont look like an utter dink when i go to a japanese resturant. It seems thats all we got in the next town over and only way to get practice in. It is going to be very hard because the american culture does not have you use this on a daily bases even though i think we should and i mean... ALL japanese ettiquitte would better our society

please forgive this spelling its all i know how to spell it as

    Arigato-gozaimasu

  • okay IM HAPPY[?] THAT yeah ur teaching us JAPANese BUT why do you jux havvveeeee to make FUN OF ANIME!!!!!!>_<* ILOVEANIME! DUDE IT CAME FROM YAL JAPANESE PEEPS!!! yea yea i bet ur saying omgosh she's a ANIMEFREAK! maybe^_^ ahh j/s! P.S: YOU did okay!

  • @ayumi96love You should read my sidebar (or bottom bar). I reveal something there.

  • @yuichituba that GREAT![2 THUMBS UP!] >_< THAT YOU like yo too!!!!! oh yeah

  • @ayumi96love You are an ignoramus.

  • @djfakt uINFANTINE;D

  • wow this is actualy (pardon my spelling) one of the better japanese lesson videos here i like how you explain the pronociation of the word i hope to see more videos of this this is very help full good job

  • Nice first lesson. I am starting to learn Japanese, because I have Japanese Flight students and I want to be able to communicate with them in a more effective manner. This video was very entertaining and helpful. Looking forward to viewing the others!

  • Haha, I love your lesson and try to learn some Japanese :D

  • you make fun of them more than teaching them. (´・ω・`)

  • are you full japanese :)?

  • @DANCE437 No, I'm half japanese and half caucasian.

  • @yuichituba uhm wondering what does just Osu mean only 1 s i play a game called "Osu!" its a rythem game you download songs and import them into the game where people make custom beatmaps and you can play on 3 different game mades its really addicting and iv just been anoyed at the fact that theres only 1 s!! so im thinking its not yo but what is it!!! *tear rolls down eye in agony of trying to figure out the meaning*

so yeah please tell me its killing me

  • @13ofus To be precise, in romaji, "osu" would mean to "push," In this case, the button you would push in the game. "Ossu"(おっす)has the skip in between the "o" and "ssu" or "ss." So they sound different.

  • @yuichituba mmmm interesting thanks

  • I lol'd at the freakout at 6:30. This was really helpful, though kinda insulting... Which made me lol.

  • I hate how they make anime in english because it's so childish, so usually I watch it in japanese

  • @ReikaLovelyFlower Ya, it's really annoying. I hear that the producers are trying to emulate Japanese personalities in the anime, but that doesn't translate most of the time.

  • @yuichituba Then their just ruining the whole point of translating it to english if their just going to change everything

  • when ever someone asks me how do you say ( ) in japanese they repeat it so badly! the resson is that the english language is very a flat language so its hard to pronounce differently, in my opinion

  • Pppffftttt Dragon Ball Z...lol I don't like that show but ah~ you made a funny :3 Seriously, you make it much more enjoyable to learn Japanese (this language is much funner to learn than Spanish). Anyways for anime I prefer serious ones like Kuroshitsuji and not all of us get wet our pants excited for anime XD its only like.....75%...wow...wait thats a big number...

  • @EvilChocoKitty Hahaha, ya. I actually like the serious and darker ones like Ergo Proxy. That's one of my favorite ones.

  • You are offensive. Don't take it personally, but your assumptions about people who like manga and anime are misguided and insulting. As agreed by all of my friends who also like manga and anime, Dragon Ball Z is horrible. It is a kid's show, and, like Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon, is not to be taken seriously, or a a representative of other mangas and animes. Odd colorings (like pink hair) are weird and creepy.

  • Sorry. I hadn't seen your post about you watching anime. I assumed you were stating your actual opinion, because you sound like my sister when she talks about manga and anime.

  • You pronouce the words well, because yes, thats how you verbally speak japanese.

I'm just saying, because I'm in college and I'm learning japanese and thats how our japanese professor explains the difference to us.....so yeah:)

  • You are so fun to watch, and that makes it easy to learn. Thank you SO much for creating these vids for us. :)

  • @mrswhite320 No problem, I'm glad it was helpful :) By the way, we have the same last name, lol.

  • I like this but the video keeps buffering.... bummer

  • good work man but am not an anime geek

  • @Mr6Tons Thanks. Sadly, I'm kind of am an anime geek :P

  • you're awesome :3

  • *COMMENT PART 1****

see where ur trying to explain konnichiwa i find it helps my prounciation to know the 'japanese alphabet' or whatever u want to call it(i know its not an alphabet as is sounds but w/e) then u have a better idea of how to pronounce each sound in turn, maybe try explaining it that way.

  • *****COMMENT PART 2**********

    ko - as in 'coke'

    n - like the n in 'convict'

ni - almost like the 'ne' at the beginning of 'need'

chi - like the 'che' in cheeese'

    wa - as in 'wagon'

so with the two 'n' sounds u add then together to man ko-n-ni-chi-was

hopefully theis helps viewers and maybe yourself with ur lessons infuture. These are my own examples i just thought up so apologies if u dont agrre with them but feel free to put in better ones if u have any .

  • hahaha YEAH i love saying "ossu" its soo fun to say OSSU OSSU OSSU

    ...I dont watch anime ...=_=

  • @BriCareful Haha, that's ok. I watch anime :P

  • lol f3 thats rly rude saying we r all anime freaks. just cuz sum1 likes anime dun mean they r as u describe.. <<; I like anime cuz i feel i can rly learn Japanese from it. Its a lie to say its not real Japanese. And sure mayb Japanese ppl dun sound as livlely but none the less it is Japanese. I learn alot of gramar points etc from watching anime. i also take classes in college and study online as well. Im not saying ppl learn Japanese from anime alone. but it does help. and bashing it isn't kool

  • @pretymisty14 Good for you, we may all enjoy anime on a certain level and while it can provide a helpful medium for listening skills and talking skills in Japanese, you should not take words and actions from anime seriously. I would say that alot of japanese speech is informal when characters are talking and not many words are made up but some are, for instance the infamous "Dattebayo" from naruto is a phrase which has no meaning. Apart from those Japanese people mostly use more polite speech.

  • haha great videos, thanks!

  • OMG "rurouni kenshin" HE SAID IT!!! YAY!!!

  • @kittycatdude lol, it's such a great anime.

  • how do u say melon and keyring ? its a request from friends lol.

  • @HorseMad0 Melon is just with a Japanese accent "me-lo-n". I don't know about keyring. We may not have a word for it.

  • @HorseMad0 if you want melons just ask the girls Oppai onegai shimasu or Oppai o-kudesai ;P

  • We say ossu all the time in karate. Surely i'm not saying 'yo' to my sensei?!

  • @b34rh34d "ossu" isn't a perfect equivalent to our "yo". It's used like that most of the time, but in the case of a martial arts teacher when you say "ossu", it's used because it has a more masculine, tough way of greeting rather than how most Japanese greetings tend to sound passive and careful, which you don't want in martial arts.

  • @yuichituba Thanks. These videos are great by the way, I came across them whilst trying to learn a bit about japanese language/culture because I'm going to spend a few months there this year

  • @b34rh34d Oh good! I'm glad it's been helpful. I hope you enjoy your time there!

  • America does not really have much Japanese references in it's culture only the negative in history wise and what it is shown in movies like samurai and ninjas which is very stereo types. Young people now a days are explosed to Japanese culture not by samurai nor ninja movies cause there is very little movies now about such themes but by Anime.

So if people wanna learn japanaese because they watch anime you should not be slamming them or bad mouthing them.

  • @UzumakiMatrix He said he was joking in the info box thing.

  • Minna Nihon no Bunka ga suki hito wa "animegeek" dewa nai yo. Jitsu wa, kono bideo o miru to, jibun no Nihongo shirizu tsukuroo to omotte, na.

  • Right, I agree. It's just me teasing people. I am not serious.

  • i totally agree with you, anime geeks or white people in general emphasize japanese words too much...no offense.

  • Most entertaining. :o)

You know you're going to regret the anime references right? Throw in some kanji, that normally scares away the kiddies ;o)

As if learning Japanese isn't tricky enough the contractions just make it trickier!

    ありがとうございます=あざす (笑)。

I look forward to your observations - you are in a very interesting cultural position - as I infer from your profile comments.

  • P.S : 6:30 LOL

  • Thanks!

Japanese is my sixth language to speak!

    I speak:

    Thai (I'm half Thai)

English (other half and I'm British!)

    French

    German

    Spanish

  • Dang man, that's awesome. I should start a 3rd language. Maybe if I make myself move to Europe.

  • @yuichituba

Plus, if you move to Britain, there would be no thanksgiving ... if you move to Europe (others than Britain) could celebrate christmas sometimes in new year or day before christmas and what days we think it's not normal.

there are might be various of some things that you don't celebrate than the U.S lol!

  • please make more Japanese lessons :D

    5/5

  • Thanks for watching! Ya, I been slacking off on this series. I'll try to get one going very soon.

  • Ossu ora goku (says the preview to next episode) zettai mitekure o na!

If you say that "ossu" is like "yo" in nihongo, then what about "yo" itself? Can't you also say "yo" in japanese.

By the way, FMA does rule, especially the new series FMA 2 or FMA brotherhood.

I wonder, do you think you're better at speaking in english or japanese? When you speak to yourself in your head, is it in english or japanese?

I ask this because we all have a language that we're a little more fluent in.

  • Thanks for watching, man.

I would say overall I'm more comfortable with English, but I think and do other things in both languages because i grew up with both.

You can say "yo" in Japanese like Goku does. And yes, FMA FTW!

  • Okay, the reason why I was asking was because I'm bilingual myself. Although spanish was my first language, I will (shamefully) say that I speak and think in English far more often. Obviously the result of growing up here in the states.

Hopefully you'll put up more japanese lesson videos. I want to be "multi-lingual" some day!

  • Really good, thanks, you are cute.

  • ありがとうございます!あたらしいビデオはいつですか? :)

  • My favorite character is RYE-YUUU~~~!!! HADOOOOOKEN!!! lol?!

  • Good stuff!!

  • Hey, why does the transcriptors always write -su if you pronounce is just like a very sharp s? Has that a special reason? I don't hear any u-like sound at all...

Why don't they just write Oß? No, it's not ab B ;)

  • It's because the written Japanese characters are all vowels and vowels with preceding consonant letters (sa, ke, fu, etc.). So it is spelled that way. You caaaan still pronounce it as "gozaimasu" instead of the typically pronounced "gozaimas".

  • Oh, thanks for the explanation. Those videos are very interesting - and your comments too.

  • LOVE this. Keep doing more!

  • Osu Mesu!
