The mkv is 0.2 secs faster than the mkiv,,,it's a lil heavier, maybe 100 pounds heavier but the mkv with 10 more hp it's about the same, Now with a faster and more efficient haldex and dsg! The mkv is faster!! No one will ever beat the dsg at shifting gears!!! That kills the mkiv!! Plus everyone can say whatever they wanna but the mkv is better looking than the mkiv.

I test drove one and I think it needs more power, especially for the $35k my local dealer wanted for one used.I dought that a chip,pulley and exhaust will give this thing 100 extra hp either. With the weight of the AWD the car is just as heavy as a regular sedan, so 250hp is nothing special. If it had a supercharger or a turbo it would be all set

This car does 0-60 in 6.8 and the weight of this car is about 2 tons because of the 4 wheel drive system. 250bhp is not really helping this car much, if they started with something like 280 or 300bhp I would give it a thumbs up. Its a good car all round but the horsepower should of been more because of the weight.

Hmm I agree that Japanese interiors are generally poor quality - I mean look at Skylines including the new GTR they just can't seem resist using cheap hard plastics. But, I drive a Liberty STI on the w/ends and an R32 for work. And I have to say the Subaru interior is pretty damn good and up there with almost Audi standards. In a traffic jam/daily city commute the r32 is the place to be, but materials used in the Liberty feel superior. And the SAT NAV in the Subaru is much more user friendly LOL

Have you ever heard about Revo Chipping...Any how Revo is one of the best you can use on a Golf. I have A K1 stander`t its 240bhp and with a first stage Revo I have 300bhp and I am very happy with this remapping. Revo specialises Only in Golfs Seat Audi Skoda Porsch. Its a a Trade mark with these cars. Try this out and see you might be more imprest then the one you have now.

The r32 keeps up with the sti on many road tests... i believe top gear had them near tied... the r32 is also not in the same category as the sti, and if it were, i imagine they would use the turbo engine outta the tt-s and a more aggressive haldex system...

The originally plan for the USDM R Golf model was the 3.6 V6 from the R36 Passat they get in Europe. They coudn't get the R36's larger DSG tranny to fit in the Golf so they had to go with the 3.2, but if the 3.6 made it in would of been in the 290hp/260lb range.

i bought a gti 2 years ago, and i love it. i couldve gotten the 32, but why the hell would you drop 35k on a friggin vw? you can get a gti way faster than the 32, and you can spend the money to get an awd conversion, turbocharge, make it faster than the 32, and still be LESS than the cost. its not worth it....if im gonna drop 35k on a car, it sure as hell wont be a vw.
