  • What type of Accurate reel are you guys using?

  • that looks like a very nice fishing trip! damzzz :D

  • ive never caught a striper i realy want to lol im stuck at home catching 30-40+ pound carp :P

  • very nice, cant wait till december

  • wut kind of rod is that

  • nice stripers ! ive never caught anything close in size to these.

  • ya i gotta admit...east coast strippers are better than west coast....

  • if it were me i would keep any striper over 29 fukin inches

  • Nice fish. Did you have the eels weighted down to the bottom? or were you just letting them swim freely with no weight?

  • very nice catch.. you guys are the best cause you release them after.. take care guys

  • Wow!!! Incredible fishing guys!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!

  • are you using a float if so can you share your rig with me(how to please)

  • good job guys those are some beautiful big fish

  • wre do u get those eels u buy em tell me!!!!!!!!

  • @MultiSithlord here in NY you can find them at any tackle place on long island

  • Nice fish! Nothing beats live bait! Check out the Collapse-A-Trap video on catching live saltwater bait fish.

  • Excellent sports fishermen. Catch and Release so amature like me can catch their babies. Way to keep the sport alive! ThX! Btw, if you use a 3ft eel, would the equation change?

  • Not really, The smaller Eels usually work better for us in the colder water. Thanks for the comment, Mike

  • wat bait where u guys using

  • @chrisvang95 probably cunker chunks

  • is.that.neer.the.tunnle.or.peer?

  • Catch and reşeae ..

    EXCELLENT!

    God Bless!

  • i also like to reel with my left, and i went fishing on a charter out of boston and we boated alot of fish in the twenties, but it was ackward for me when fighting the fish

  • Where in the bay is it??

  • Lower Bay near the CBBT

  • what rod is that guys? one criticism, is that I think left hand multiplier retrieve is more natural. with right -hand retrieve you are generally using you weaker left arm to do the heavy work, pumping fish, and your stronger arm to wind in!????????????? Why change from fixed-spool principles, where 95%plus fisherman retrieve left hand????????????????????????? guy kept on saying "heart-attack" in video-is this what you will get continuing this unnatural right hand retrieve?
  • I kinda understand what you are saying. Without a doubt, plenty of fisherman like to use spinning reels, ( I assume that's what you are referring too). But I think you are a bit off base when you tell me what hand of MINE is stronger. Maybe the "Heart attack" quote passed you by. We were goofing around and quoting JAWS. Sorry. We were NOT about to have Heart attacks. The rods were quite soft, we used 30lb Mono. A stiff rod and heavy line will bring em in faster, but with LESS Strikes. contin

  • Most 50lb class Bass fisherman do not use a spinning reel because you are adding 2- 90 degree angles. One where the drive gear meets the pinion, and one where your line raps around the roller on the bail. A conventional reel removes both. Just a straight line to the fish. Accurate makes left handed models, but I choose the right handed. If you like left retrieve spinning reels, than go for it. Post a cool video, and I'll check it out. Also, the soft rod keeps the fish from spitting the bait MS

  • Also, I am a bit out of shape so don't tease me, I am sensitive. I'm just kidding, speak your mind! These rods were Penn power sticks, but the new Accurate Xnergy are the BEST, and the are not too expensive. That's all I use now.

    Thanks!

    Mike

  • nice video and a good reply. i too prefer reeling with my left.

  • Thanks Smoke!

    Mike

  • Sweet. Where you fishing?

I'd like to see some fluke fishing/tips.

  • cool im going chunking for tuna next summer aswell as striped bass fishing inshore hope i can catch a monster half the size of that one!

  • drumkeys. whenever i bottom fish, i usually catch nice size flounder with minnows and squid eyes. put the minnow on the bottom hook. use a double rig. i catch around 20-26 inch flounder with them. they love minnows and squid eyes :)

  • Right now im on a lagoon at my grandparrent's house and its right off of san francisco bay. I was sitting on the back deck and i saw a huge striper swim by, i didnt know there was anything in here. i rigged up a bobber, a 3 foot leader and i caught a small bottom fish and hooked it through the tail so it would swim down... im not having any luck (the whole lagoon is only like 8 ft deep) any suggestions?

  • Sounds like you have the right idea. Try some cut bait on the bottom. Big chunks on the bottom. 6/0 hook, no weight, or 1oz.. Not sure what bait you have available, but big Menhaden, or Mullet chunks should work. Also chum up the area, if you saw one you know there are others.

    hope this helps, Mike

  • thanks, Would raw squid (calamari) work? on the bottom.

  • It might, I would use a whole one. Clams work well on the Notheast coast, but usually on smaller fish. Try it.

    Mike

  • ok i will, and im on the north west by the way. that might have been what you meant though.

  • thats wat u call big strip bass..... nice one buddy

  • reel nicccce!!!

  • holy crap nice fish

  • those reels sound real nice and smooth. especially afer that big one took a look at the boat. we been into them for a month up here in ny. have they hit your area yet? you guys every try kayak fishing? lots of fun also.

  • nice redi-rig !

  • awesome catches!!!!

  • have u ever been to the jersey shore by barnegat inlet? cause i went in november 2007 and there were 25 plus pound stripers chasing huge hering and i was able to get a 17 pounder from using a live herring about 17 to 18 inches long and DAMMM wat a fight that was

  • were you just free lining the eels with a swivel and leader, or did u have em on a bucktail or something?

  • Just an eel on a 7/0 Gamakatsu octopus hook. Release redi-rig floats, no weight, or 1 split shot.

  • Keep in mind, that these fish were all caught on relatively light line, so horsing a 50lb fish in open water is not necessary. Some emails I get are just hillarious, "horse em in" is the general comment, but when I look at their channel there is NOTHING-not a single fishing video???? I would love to know how they boat THEIR 50lber's.

  • Also, when we release fish that apear stressed, or came off of a long fight, We ALWAYS take the time to revive them for quite a long time sometimes. In cold water, when the fight is quick however, a fast lunge straight down can be the best.

  • where in the bay is this?

  • Ha! I was watching this, and my wife walked by and says -- "sounds you are fishing online..."

    yeah just imagining

  • those are the biggest stripers i have ever seen

  • nice catch!!

  • yoo that rod is about to snap

  • You boys know what your doing!! What was the Gps Coord., at that spot ;) J/K...

    Are you floating the Eels?

  • Every fish was caught on a float rig or a split-shot. Actually when we left, we gave our numbers to a few guys that were struggling a little, They came over and each caught the biggest fish of their lives. One guy was from NJ, and the other was from NC. They couldn't beleive we gave out our numbers. With the strong catch and release restrictions in the bay there is no harm in sharing a spot.

    Mike.

  • wat kinda eels

do u use i would think ur using eels that arent the size of the sand eels

  • oh, i didn't see the message in the middle of the vid. it's still annoying though!

  • that bait clicker is annoying! couldn't he turn it off after the hook-up?

  • O and also i fish in brooklyn and finding stripers is hard any advice?

  • Vin, If you can find bait up in those rivers, that should be a great place to start. I'm not familiar with Brooklyn, but I am familiar with bait. FISH UNDER IT.

    Mike

  • im gonna buy ur rigs but what line strenth should i use? thanks

  • I have tried everything, and I keep coming back to 40lb Big Game. I like a good shock absorber for when big fish hit. I have experimented with 80lb braid, and wire line, which is fine for a COW CATCHER rig, but the no-stretch factor in braid and wire will explode any "store-bought" rig. With 40lb mono, a boat moving at 2.6mpn by G.P.S. will need to let out aprox. 100 feet of line to go 20 feet deep. However the Daisy-Chains won't go nearly as deep. I like them for surface feeding situations.

  • If you like to troll deep with my Daisy Chains, wire or lead core can help. But not needed.

  • lol i am informed! ty for the info

  • nice video. iv caught monster stripers my whole life, and have lost even bigger ones.

my bait of choice is not eel. lol i just

dont know how to fish em. they always tangel

my line. and when they havent i dont have any luck with em. think it might be where i fish.

i guess they work good at beaches, like popum.

and my bait of choice doesnt usally work where

ppl are catching em on eels. id like to have

your job. fishing for work. gl to yea.

    * popum or w/e is a beach not a lure

  • Yeah, Eels can be a pain to deal with, but it is worth it. You can hook them in several places, but for the drifting you see us doing here, We use a 7/0 Gamakatsu and hook the eel from the bottom lip out through the top, sometimes through the eye. If you keep some dry rags to grab em' it's pretty easy. Grab em' hook em' throw em' in the water as quick as you can, and they will swim straight down. I have used ice before,(to chill em'out) but melting fresh water will kill them sometimes.-Mike

  • hows it going. im in the damariscotta

area and thinking bout getting in to eeling

to sell to bait shops. i just have question

about going prices of eels and regulations. any info would help, haveing a hard time finding info on the internet.

  • At the Chesapeake we usually buy from Chris's Bait. They are just over the bridge coming from the south.(Kiptopeake) They charge around $1.50 each. There is another place before you cross the bridge(the name eludes me), but they charge $2.00 each. I have also bought eels near the Bonner Bridge Outer Banks at the fisherman's head quarters, and at a few places in NJ. I don't know what THEY pay, but I know they buy LOTS of them. They are both slammed in the fall. That,s pretty much all I know, Mike

  • eels are 2 On LI..NY

  • why do you use the clicker on your reels? i no its not bad and it puts a little more pressure on the drag. and what kind of bait were you using?

  • GREAT QUESTION! I only leave the clickers on when I am video taping. This way the veiwer can get a better idea of when the fish is taking line, when we are taking line, and how much pressure is on the fish. With the slow clicking coming off the reel with a bent rod, you know were putting maximum pressure on the fish and not babying the fish for the camera. ALSO it's a great way for the captain to keep tabs on a fish that a crew member is fighting. The clicker can be a great tool. Thanks,MIKE

  • Oh Yeah, EEEEEEEEEEELS!

  • I only click off so I don't let anyone know I have a fish on at night..but tx for leaving it on for us it sounds like music 2 me

  • Check out my Cow Catcher Umbrella Rigs on e-bay. Hit the link up in the description.

  • Fellas, I just got back from snagging bunker in Jamaica Bay and I have to say the I believe this may be an epic year because I've never seen so many bunker in my life. When the big boys show up, all hell is going to break loose. and thanks mcfast176, cause there's only one truth and that is "glory be to the striped bass" amen

  • J126, Cool, let me know what size fish you are finding.

  • Bravo, One interesting point about this video that kind of got cut-out; In the begining when the second fish hits; Bobby fought him for a minute and figured it was around 30lbs. I didn't want to risk a tangle with a potential 50lber' so we stuck the 30 in the rod-holder. You hear him refer to it a few times.(when I say he's over 30, I was reffering the Bobby's rod-holder fish). Bobby"s fish ended up weghing 37lbs.

  • I,m not talkin' about "Pleasure Boatin" or "Day Sailin". I'm talkin' about WORKING FOR A LIVIN!

  • BAD FISH...not like going down to the pond and chasin' bluegills or tommycats. This Shark...swallow ya whole..... A little shakin'.... a little tenderizin'...down ya go.....

  • Hey Mike.......I meant to tell you before that the "Jaws" quote is great! Quint is the freakin' man! I was 7 when that movie hit the theaters and my parents took me to see it. Two weeks later we were at the shore on vacation....nedless to say, the water looked good from the beach! I have watched that movie at least 100 times since then. Good stuff man, good stuff.

  • No doubt Bro. I almost quoted Quint in my wedding vows.

  • yeah, jalexander is right, best video ive seen. you guys were tearin them monsters up. most videos on here are about 20 to 25 lb fish. finally see some big ones. nice job.

  • Thanks Guys, I appreciate the comments.

  • This is the best striped bass video I've seen on youtube so far. You guys kick some serious ass. I know people who would kill to catch fish like that. It reminds me of the stories the old timers tell me about the fishing back in the 50's. I can't help but laugh at some of the other videos of so called "huge stripers" that barely make the 20 lb mark. Thanks for sharing.

  • Amen jalexander I think the same way you do. theres vids of people that catch a ten pounder and think its a trophy. ten pounds is trophy size for largemouth not stripers. so once again cheers to jalexander!

  • What part of the bay do you fish? Was it the "diamonds" off Tilghman.

Where you farther south on the Potomac

I've only caught fish like that in about three places on the bay.

I wanna fish where you were!

  • Plantation Light. But leave a few for me.

  • Man just when I've about got striper out of my system and ready to go get some crappie I see this. Thanks for rekindling the fire with these great videos.Great fish.

  • Good Stuff! You guys landed some nice fish! Great to see some catch and release going on.

  • watch?v=YobjbAvkm4w

  • Great to see ya on You Tube! You've come a long way from freezing on your boat in Round Valley! Keep those lines wet brother!

  • Thanks, All but 2 fish were released. I'll give you a free guide trip on Kerr lake for freshwater stripers.
