Jerusalem is coated with rock: at sunset all the stones dye golden, and its breath-taking.

  • Once again John has done it. Guy's I cant tell you enough how good his tabs are. They are advanced enough for avid players but written well enough for beginners to pick up if they watch his videos closely. BTW I want to thanks John and his staff for recommending the A frame guitar prop to me. It has truly helped me with my playing.

  • Hello John!

You are truly amazing with a guitar. I have been following your vids for about a year, and it only gets better and better! Practising your song The Most Evolved, but also considering to buy the tabs for your other songs. I am looking up to you when I am playing, because of you, I didn't skip the guitar! :) Cheers from a first-year guitar student

  • ...jizz in my pantss

  • To all those that comment "tabs??" you should know that he sells his tabs on his web site. I have them all and enjoy them all. Also I wanted to know what prop he used to hold the guitar at that angle and with in 12 hrs some one replied and helped me choose the one that was best for me. I would like to thank you John for the inspiration and the great customer service.

  • @jsxgmanfam True about the tabs on his site. Totally worthwhile to buy. If you have any appreciation for his work and want him to continue, buying tabs and songs is the way to go. The man deserves to make a little profit off of his immense talent, and we reap the benefits.

  • I am in absolute awe of your ability. What wonderful virtuosity you possess. I am a late comer to learning the guitar. I just hope I can achieve even half of the standard you have set.

  • an inspiration to all guitarists of all playing styles, thank you

  • tabs??

  • You forgot to give credit to Naomi Shemer, who wrote this song. Lovely performance, though :-)

  • when did Naomi Shemer write this song? Forgive me, as I originally do not intend negativity but this song has a very good relevance to how Huddy Ledbetter's Where Did You Sleep Last Night? written in around the 1930s. It's just not as complex and successful as Jerusalem of Gold. Naomi is a very good writer. I should read his life and intentions of this song. Nirvana had also covered Ledbelly's song that sounds like this, by the way.

  • I'm sorry, I really don't hear any resemblance to "where did you sleep last night"...

Naomi Shemer (whose a woman, by the way) wrote the song in 1967.

I might add - She was "inspired" by a song named "Pello Joxepe"... She confessed on her deathbed.

  • well, I hear a relevance in the chorus of Jerusalem of Gold. The notes may not be direct, esp. as far as singing but the general layout of the chorus sounds like it. I mean, I know it would be stupid if I said this sounds like Britney Spears but I really mean that it does have some relation to how Where Did You Sleep Last Night sounds. It has that same mellow, passionate sound I hear. It may be Pello's inspiration but I have no doubt Where Did You... shares a certain feeling, though unrelated.

  • You're awesome!!!

  • Enjoy beautiful music without the need to make it into a religious argument

  • This guy is awesome! His timing is impeccable and knowledge of the fretboard highly impressive. This was the Schindler's List song and I never knew what it was called. Now I do. Thanks, John :)

  • i like how this is so clear

  • whats that first chord?

  • i love Semitic music

  • Comment removed

  • Its not Semitic.. Its Zionistic.

  • Hebrew is one of the Semitic grammatical groups.

the Zionist comment is just wrong, hatred propagates hatred.

and that what is left is a husk of a person

  • Zionism is about establishing a homeland for the jewish religion, which is exactly what this song is about.

Zionism is the movement that made people suffer for generations in this part of the land. Children were killed in the name of Zionism. A husk is what a child who lost his family will grow up into because of the acts comitted in the name of Zionism.

  • I don't know if the previous comment means something negative regarding the meaning of this song. All I know is that I love the tune. I don't really care about whatever the "meaning" of it is.

You just keep on keeping on. Play on. You're good.

  • John, I find you unique, very versatile, accomplished and passionate. Also, you're looking good, man.

I hope to attend a concert of yours.

    Best regards.

  • great arrangment. well done !

  • Good piece. Israel is AWESOME

  • is it awesome because it's stolen land or another reason I'm not aware of?

  • Trace any historic record back far enough and you will see every piece of land has been "stolen" at some point. Don't be an ass.

  • Epic. keep going John

  • Nice !

  • Beautiful.

  • very good. Most interesting. I would love it even more if it had a touch more of that Jewish or Jerusalem, or Israeli sound to it. But great, I will learn it ASAP. I have a nack of putting things off thouh. . .lol

  • o dig the beard man

  • Beautiful. =D

  • its a lovely piece...

  • simply Beautiful my friend

  • Bravo on choosing and performing such a beautiful and moving piece.

and shame on those who think this is a forum to espouse their hatred and ignorance.

We should come together as a community united to hear music performed by talented artists and not to beat our chests and outscream those with different viewpoints than our own.

No one is impressed when you try to impress with words of hatred and intolerance.

Again, thank you John for allowing us a few moments to rise above this nonsense

  • Sorry Mr. Clarke but you must realize you can't post anything Jewish or Israeli with out all the extra bullshit that comes with it. I don't understand why Jews are so hated? They were not welcomed in Europe, They were kicked out of Israel throughout history time and time again. The Arabs have the ENTIRE middle east and all the OIL, but apparently it's not enough. Jews and Arabs have lived in the land side by side for years, thats a fact. But Mecca is the holy site for Muslims not Jerusalem.

  • @IronPriest82 What the fuck are you talking about? Enjoy the damn music.

  • @divinegod102 I was responding to a few people that made anti Jewish/Israeli comments. I made the remark that it never seems to amaze me that whenever someone posts anything that has either to deal with Israel or Jews, typically hate messages follow...

  • @IronPriest82 Antisemites will always be antisemites. Let's just ignore them and enjoy this beautiful peace of music.

  • @divinegod102 Your probably right, but hopefully not. My family is from Israel so it bothers me more at times.

  • @IronPriest82 No way haha I love Israeli people. Have some pride.

  • nice :)

  • This is nice

  • Great,loved it.

  • You know what I dont know and you don't know either who was first, second or third to this land. But if you look anywhere in the land there was always someone there and then somebody else came and took over. it's happend time and time again. US took from the Indians, Romanians from the Hungarians, Romans took everybodys land, Greeks, it goes on and on.You win some and you lose some, and that's that. You think the Indians are ever getting America back, Never going to happen,so tough shit.thatslife

  • if you guys are going to talk about religion go somewhere else... this is a place to enjoy good music

  • Jerusalem is jewish. Open the bible stupid people.

That was great john, loved it. Youre amazing.

  • I adore ur work, and this one was simply awesome and significant

    Thanx for sharing friend/master :)

  • Jerusalem is a muslim-christian mixture it's wierd that you're relating it with jews

  • o.o it's the captial of israel and has been in jews hands since 10th Century B.C.E

more like Christan Vs. Jew. Vs. Muslim

o.o the christans just drove out the jews.....a lot....

  • not wierd at all....Jerusalem is the capital of Israel...I advise you to study geography before you write things like that.

  • I'm from the middle east, so keep your advices

but you israelis always want to change facts, but you know what? you can't...

  • wtf. Jerusalem is in Israel which is regarded as the Jewish holy land. It is pretty much all Jewish

  • it is the muslim holy land too , whitegorey was right

  • i didn't say he wasn't. I was talking about Jpage216

  • Muslim-Christian mixture??? Yeah there is Mosques and Churches in Jerusalem but how do you not recognize it as Jewish at all? What is the Wailling wall? What is the oldest religion still practiced today...Judiasm, if there wasn't Judiasm there would be no Christianity or Islam. At least todays Christians are mostly moderate and peaceful, wish I could say for Islam. You know who named the land Palestine??? It wasn't the Arabs it was the Romans.

  • man no offense but plz stfu..i mean u have to talk about politics and be a racist even in a video that we are all trying to enjoy..just plz shut up and listen to the video...thx

  • Racist???

  • Well played... definitely not my favorite style that you do.

  • awesome job once again man, for music.

  • i like that he plays the song like he fell in love with it, hes really an artist and my favorite here on YouTube:)

  • do you write music? or just cover?

    anyway your playing is good

  • This one is a cover of a very famous Israeli song. :)

    And it's very good!

  • Still my favorite Musician

  • this is a great piece on music
