i have read a lot of comments about such knife fighting being obsessive. Point one: multiple wound work is usually tought to special forces. Point two if it really came down to it on the street if i was mugged, and i was faced with a choice of killing someone with multiple knife blows or being stabbed myself, guess which one i would choose? As my martial arts teacher used to say: "Its better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6"
"thousands of sports fights" Not going to touch the likelihood of 500 street fights. But THIS is what I can question. Where, what outcomes, what leagues, what opponents, etc. All of this should be on record.
@bobjoemagee The sport fights are basically Wrestling and Boxing matches, along with MMA fights to train various MMA fighters. I wrestled in competition from the time I was 6 to about 26 years of age. I Boxed from about 17 - 32, I have fought in Stick fighting competitions from the time I was 20 - 40. My point is there are different things learned from competition fights and real life fights both are valuable. Most people don't know much about real fighting, their views are competition based.
I agree with the notion that someone as trained and obviously deadly as him doesn't need to be able to get through the sentence without deep breathing. What concerns me is that he has been in 500 real fights. I think anything past 10 (unless you are a professional bouncer or soldier) means that you are seeking out people to hurt them. That seems rather uncool for someone with that level of deadliness to be doing. Kind of like walking around kicking dogs... great instructional videos either way.
I have trained with Tuhon Tom many times during Sayoc training events. Every time it is awe-inspiring and extremely motivating. The interesting thing about Tom's condition is that he "is" actually very fit in many different kinds of ways. He is fit more combativley than fitness-like. Its hard to define exactly. I know from first hand what his energy feels like. He is actually extremely coordinated, and his overall fighter attributes, speed , timing etc. there are no words to describe.
I once had the privilege of training with Tuhon Tom in a seminar in Long Beach, CA--this man applied an arm bar controlling technique on me that I'll NEVER FORGET. He is a massively powerful man, and as he said, although being in shape is not a bad thing, let me tell you, Tuhon Tom's knowledge, skill, and just dominating spirit is nothing, NOTHING, to scoff at.
i saw a dvd with mr. kier & other high ranking sayoc instructors going stick to stick in a forest surrounded by fallen tree's and foilage. and these guys went 80% with the stick WITHOUT protective equipment and the one who made his opponent tap the quickest was tuhon kier. and his opponent was significantly lighter than he but instead of using raw power he(tuhon kier) relied on distance, timing and a standing grappling technique with the punyo to submit his opponent.dont let his weight fool you.
The guys making fun of Tuhon Tom make me laugh. This isn't MMA, this is real shit. How many rounds of weightlifting you can do don't mean anything with a blade lodged in your throat.
(Forgive my English) Adressing to liveblade: I live in Montréal, Québec. I was waiting for Instructor Hock Hochheim to come anywhere close to give a seminar, But they never get any closer than Thunder Bay, Ontario. Do you know of any Knife instructor you would vouch for near my place?
Instead of commneting on this man's body shape why dont you listen to what the man is saying. As he is speaking alot of sense. That, and dont be so bloody rude. Children.
People confuse abs for fighting competence. Thanks holly wood. But it's guys like this who were focused on their trade skill that built the world we live in today. Your ancestor's didn't give a damn about how "slick" he looked. He cared about going home at the end of the day to his family Id bet, and this guy's trade skill happens to be combat. Open your eyes.
Tom, honestly over 500 fights, this really speaks volumes about your character. And you say when you start it. thats nice, so you look for fights also. Your remark about winning is puzzling to. In a real fight there are no winners. Someone with your training should and ought to know better. And the other statement about you standing over a man thats already not a threat because you already put him down and you continuing to beat him instead of just leaving. Seems you have alot of issues.
I was a bouncer for over ten years, and through that, and the usual fights, most guys have over the course of growing up. Its most likley well over 500. But its a conservitive est.
I see a lot of guys here are making comments about me being out of shape, this is absolutely true. I'm way fat and dont do any cardio. I've never made any claims to being in shape. As for fighting I've been in over 500 real fights not counting the thousands of sport fights, I have never been on the losing side of a real life fight, and never fought someone in worse shape than me..so much for you fitness guys, but its not bad to be in shape, just not as important as you think.
Tom, I have to call bullshit here. Are you honestly saying you won all 500 of your fights. Who were you fighting, children? How many of your sport fights did you lose? Im going to post this at bullshido and see what they say.
Winning is beating the other guy into submission, or making him run away and not come back. And yes all the real fights I have had have ended like that. Because they are real life fights, not matched opponents that start by a whistle and have rules. As far as sport fights I have lost quite a few, I wrestled competively for about 20 years, and boxed and had hundreds of gym fights, some against world champions boxers, lost plenty of them. I know what it is like to lose.
Tom, why are you explaining and excusing yourself to anyone? most people commenting on Youtube are losers! people who don't know shit about Sayoc Kali, knife fighting or any fighting! You have no idea who's behind the keyboard there, and I can guarantee you most of these people are teenagers! these idiots type every single fart that goes through their heads, just because the can. Debating with fools is a waste of energy. Stay awesome!
Also let me say, when I was bouncing I was bigger stronger and faster than almost eveyone out there, I am extremely violent when I fight, when the fight starts which is when I start it, I try and totally crush my enemy. most times he gets a straight righthand while he is still talking shit, its fast downhill from there for him, with him balled up on the ground, with me standing over him, punching his head off the pavement. We should get together sometime and talk over coffee
I can't wait to have coffe with you. You fat fat fuck. I will take great pleasure in blowing the head off of such a violent cowardly bully. "bigger stronger and faster than almost everyone out there" The only reason you win any fights is because you pick on smaller slower opponents. You have much to proud of. Graceless lumbering joke of a martial artist.
I don’t doubt your skills but that’s a lot of fights you claim to have had. If that was a real statement you would be in jail or dead. And that is nothing to brag about. If it is true it means you are probably a dick looking for trouble most of the time.
@edwood777 500 is a lot of fights, in the 10 years I was bouncing, in bars and nightclubs in many different places, its about 1 a week. But there were more than one a week, but whatever, doesn't really matter. The point I was making is I have had a lot of experiences fighting without rules and with rules. Always been out of shape and overweight. Never had a problem winning. Cardio is not as important as most people think, in real fights. But very important in sport fights.
that and these movements aren't very straining where one would NEED to be of trim and flexible body like the pretty (and often useless) tae kwon do spinning kicks
this so called fat guy could dismantle all of you cheap jokers without the blade. i love it when pc warriors make stupid remarks behind their key boards rather than up close and personal.grow a pair man up.
That's what youtube is for......internet warriors to talk tough while living in their mothers basement. If they said some of these things in the real world, they'd have to deal with a broken jaw, and it's not nearly so damn funny when a 'fat ass' breaks your jaw for running your mouth. Anonymity makes cowards brave.
I don't care how much training a person has had, if someone learns a martial art, they should respect themself otherwise nobody else will respect him. You think he could pretty much beat all these people on here talking badly about him, but how do you know that? If I guy can't even take care of himself, how could you be so judgemental just because he's an instructor, it only means he's learned what to teach, not that he's going to be the greatest fighter out there.
i didnt say he was the greatest fighter because all instructors know the angelo dundee is not supposed to be able to beat muhammad - ali principal which is to say great trainers are not necessarily great fighters but who on this forum will put forth a challenge against him to back up their wise cracks?let me know when that challenge hits you-tube. keep me posted.
I would love to openly challange him. But I'm not saying that he isn't good at all, I'm talking specifically about what everyone else is, his weight, and respecting him as an instructor. Martial arts is about every type of balance. One of my teachers was in excellent shape and was very respectful, I took him serious because he took martial arts serious. If a man is over weight, that DOES saying something about him, and thats the point I'm trying to make, not that I could "kick his ass"
when i said challenge im not referring to you unless you too slandered tuhon kier.also im not taking offense because im not being slandered. im just saying that you cant judge him by his size. he may have a medical condition or he doesnt care to conform to everybody elses idea of a bodydonna. mas oyama. wasnt thin like morihei uyeshiba but he could kick ass all the same.we dont know how long tuhon kier was drilling before the film was shot. he wouldnt have to fight long with his skill.
how cant this guy not take care of himself?as for respect you should preach that to these comedians who cant offer constructive criticism. yes he probrably could beat the brakes off the "jokers" out there because mature adult martial or non-martial artist wouldnt say childish remarks. but then again consider the age group of some these people. mature m.a. who train hard and take many an ass-whipping in the kwoon, dojo, dojang ect. develop maturity even if they dont agree with your fighting art.
Also, I'm not insulting him, or you. Martial arts is 50/50 mental and physical, sure he can do the drills, but what if he gets in a life or death situation. If he does well, he is going to get gassed right away, with all that weight, you can't run so you would have to fight, and he's getting out of breath just by showing a drill in a video that isn't even 2 minutes long! Knowing how to do something doesn't mean anything if you can't do that thing efficiantly
Antihero12109, I went to this guys seminar. He is the best knife fighter I have ever seen. By the way. He is huge and I don't think someone could easily hurt him. Sayoc guys all carry knives. To challenge these type of people is committing suicide. Especially, an expert like Tom. I met him once but know he would not hesitate to stab you.
chiman1000 - I don't know why you replied to me asking me that. Martial arts is my life, and knife fighting is something i've been doing for many years. Although I don't ever want to "fight" anyone.
Nobody's even talking about fighting anyone, this is about martial arts, pull your head out of your ass and actually read the words people are saying to you.
not to a real knife fight you moron. I would love a chance to test my skills against his and see who is a better martial artist. The only reaosn I commented on this video is because people were talking about his weight, and I think in MARTIAL ARTS, physical health and discipline is a large part of it and that I wouldn't take someone serious dealing with the arts if they're overweight because in a way they are disrespecting their own body, it says a lot about them.
Why is that guy so FAT? Even a some of the Sayoc boys are lard asses too - is that one of the requirements of Tuhon-ness - to be able to breathe hard after only a couple of moves?
i met some sayoc kali master more faster than him... they said that it's better your body is light weight and strong because not all there skill is stand position... iam sure that he can't do well the side duck drills + counter because that was a flexible move.
and i do repect sayoc kali and d user and him. chow...
Now here's a person with intelligence ! You are correct, their is a lot more to Sayoc Kali then standing, and as we know, ground work is a little easier if your a fairly medium built person or smaller, but we are using blades and the techniques that are employed is brutal while standing.
And I do respect the Sayoc Kali Family and their art. afterall we are a study group under Tuhon Kier !
For all you small minded and idiotic people who have nothing good to comment on "TUHON KIER", I suggest that you go and get your facts straight and feel what it's like to learn a Knife Art such as Sayoc Kali. I assure you all the mouth jabbing thats going on will cease...
New proposed rules from the U S Customs will broaden the definitions of illegal knives to include all Knife's that can be opened with one hand which will in effect ban ALL pocket knives nationwide that can be opened with one hand
please go to AKTI before June 18, to help prevent this, the only contribution asked of you is your voice
judging on your comment you are not a fighter because fighters dont make racist comments like that. an obviously you dont rule because if you did then the spanish ,japanese and the americans would never have colinized you. nobody rules, we all follow somebody, something, someone.
Fighters don't make racist comments?? I'm sorry but that comment in itself in very niave. Of course some fighters don't and some do. But that's just about the individual in question being a racist or not. It has nothing to do with being a fighter. You don't suddenly drop all your lifes prejudices just because you learn to fight!!!
i know the facts. i was commenting on the superiority remark made by a commentor who said his race rules if memory serves me. so learn to read the post thoroughly. i said "nobody" rules, we all follow somebody, something, someone.get the picture of my retort now?
I have hosted seminars featuring Tuhon Kier , he is by no means someone who should be taken lightly. I have seen him crush a guy who was "in shape" in a matter of seconds, he enter by doing a forward roll into to a double leg take down and proceeded to cut the guy up before the guy could even counter with any type of sensible counter attack.
he would not chase you! the minute you turned your back to run away, you would have at least 4 blades thrown into your body buried hilt deep !
It is unbfuckinglievable that people will make comments about things they don't know anythying about. Like "oh well this is all theoretical". You arrogant, asinine cunt. It takes a lifetime to perfect these techniques. This system is used by some of the most elite combatants in the world. To just dismiss it is so incredibly insulting. What the fuck do you fucks know about real combat. Because you watch UFC you think you know dick about fighting? Life and death fighting?
The "fat guy" you are all joking about is named Tom Kier and he is so up to his neck in combat training, both with knives and guns (he is a world class marksman) that you little twerp fucks can't even comprehend. This guy trains SEALs in knife fighting. A man as trained as him doesn't need to be in shape because you would be dead with every vital artery sliced before you can fucking blink. He has like 14 years of experience with this form of combat. Show some fucking respect you ignorant fags
That's right, hand to hand is different than weapons fighting. In hand to hand you expect to fight a good 10mins or longer, in knife fighting its all about seconds and the person who gets the most hits wins fairly fast, though I must point out few knife fights end in death unless there is an infection.
mot prison fights are between unskilled strikers who get broken up fairly quickly. Tank Abbott went to prison and look at what a piece of shit he was.
I'm a fighter, just not a prison fighter. In my opion most prisoners don't know how to fight and go on instinct. Some prisions likely have men who know how to fight but most are full of druggies who fight on a whim but have never trained a day in their life. You can't learn how to fight just by fighting, you have to think about certain techniques and test them in a safe situation, otherwise you'll screw up.
@wpditerl I have learned from very awesome knife fighters and great hand to hand experts. I agree with you!! This guy is very, very good!Very experience!
Jesus...all I have to do is make the fat ass chase me for about a block....no wait...make that half a block, then I can watch him have heart attack after which I'll go have some rice and veggies.
Notice he's out of breath after exerting the energy of basically slow dancing.
The Sayocs used to teach taekwondo years ago, then he had an accident and got fat, and invented in his american taekwondo studio a fat man's martial art.
This is an outstanding system. Can be done with or without weapon and is very adaptable to combat most other arts. As for the absurd comments about Tom, I too had an apprehensive thought looking at him until my first contact with him. I would pit Tom against ANY one of you anytime. He is a very pleasant and respectful man, an exemplary instructor and one of the most menacing men I have seen when he's fighting. Incidentally he breaths like that for hours training, good luck fighting him.

Using a knife or blade to kill someone is in my opinion more honorable than a gun,but it is nothing compared to killing someone bare handed and watching their life slip away as you stare them in the eye and whisper; It'll be ok, sleep now.
honor is a word that hardly anyone in this time period should even speak sitting on our computers, living out our lives paying taxes. Honor is a word for warriors, samurai, spartans, the fighters of old. What honor do you know when you talk about killing someone with your bare hands? NordicRick, I bet you're just as lazy as most people.
You can't take away this guys skills from him, but ones devotion to his martial arts discipline should also effect his discipline to his body. Either way it looks great.
Well fuck if i get into a knife fight with his fat ass i'll just run and i'll live... listen to him struggle to breathe just when he's talking... just run from the fatass!
Wow, very strong comments behind a monitor. Personally training & instructed with Tom from his early years, he is GREATLY skilled at what he does. If you were to run from him you would not have the opportunity to experience of him cut, thrust and mentally disfigure your mind and physical appearance in which-ever order he chooses. Simply attempting to help your inaccurate thought process. You simple do not understand and with your attitude you never will. By the way I am Lil T
Actually, if you knows as much about martial arts as you say, you'd know that step one in a fight is avoid it if possible. that said, if sergio up there can outrun him, he's already won the fight, as he outright avoided it to begin with.
I didn't mean to knock sayoc kali, it's a great fighting discipline. I've trained in both and I personally prefer PT because it's a little more offense based, but that's my preference.
And as badass as Tom Kier is, the sight of a biggy tubby white guy doing such a fluid martial art is kind of silly looking. What is it with out of shape white dudes and martial arts? lol
Having preference is key and is indicative that it works best with your mind/body. Can you imagine Tom using quick feet and bodily speed in Pekiti Tersia??- this is also why he does what he does.
Does this Make Mr. Kier a poor knife man- certainly not! However- any art where split seconds determine such a level of lethality (I'm going out on a limb here)- it's good to be in the best condition one can be in.
the size isn't the problem, it's the obvious fact he's out of shape (i.e. being out of breath)
when you boil it down with all martial arts aside, he's teaching knife fighting, and in knife fighting, not all the fighting can be done with a knife. his size gives him a strong advantage in the fact that his muscularity will give him more opportunities to take his opponents knife, and most likely a reach advantage, giving him the ability to strike the opponent while well out of his strike area.
I agree with you to an extent, sometimes it's much harder to disarm a knife doing drills with guys who are a lot more muscular, but speed is also a valuable thing, and this guy will be out of breath before anything else. With all martial arts you should respect your body more, being overwight has no excuses, if you want to teach others you should try to be a good role model for them, just my opinion though.
Would a fight last that long? If it did then you are not training to eliminate but to prolong the threat. Bruce Lee's many street fights in real life only lasted seconds.
Bruce Lee was an actor not a fighter. Fighting little chinese guys in Hong Kong does not qualify one as a fighter. He would get killed fighting top guys in the UFC.
In his time where MMA or Hybrid martial arts were just being created, Bruce Lee devoted his life to the exploration of Martial arts. He expanded study of his knowledge from Kung Fu into numerous other arts such as Eskrima, Sambo, Western boxing, Aikido, kendo, and many others for the purpose of becoming the best. My point which you missed was that it is not a sport fight. How many styles were used to create the hybrid arts used in MMA?
You are an ignorant fool! Bruce Lee trained in many arts and developed his own. His students included Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Dan Inosanto, and others who were champion fighters. Don't speak out of your ass, stupid!
kevjo66, you are obviously a know-nothing, wannabe who probably can't wipe his own butt, nevermind practice martial arts. There are countless numbers of MMA, Pride, UFC, Shooto and other champions who have studied or are influenced by Bruce Lee's teachings and methods.
Go back to your sandbox and stop trying to pretend you have any real knowledge regarding martial arts.
This stuff is all theoretical. No one's gonna wait for you to feed them the knife, at least not someone who knows what he's doing. This stuff might work against average people but not against a real fighter.
Your right. No one is going to wait for you to feed them the knife. When you are the guy with the knife you simply want to hit a vital target then follow up with a finishing thrust. Kinda like how MMA fighters enter, takedown, and force submission. either way the intention is to eliminate the enemy.
But here's the thing, how does one go about testing whether this stuff actually works under combat conditions? I just don't see a guy facing a 300 pound Samoan on the street retaining this stuff. You really don't need an art to learn how to dodge a knife thrust and wait for a opening to put yours in. Even an average guy knows the vital targets on the body.
To all you guys that think this dude would lose a fight cuz he's fat, my former martial arts instructor was a pretty big guy, but he knew his shit. He's a third degree black belt, and he could knock you on your ass...I know that from experience...sparring match...ow...
Out of breath? You have NO idea...it just shows your ignorance with respect to these drills...this man trains the ELITE of the tactical world...just finished his course...if anyone doubts Tuhon Kier's speed or agility based on his size, see him disarm and redirect any firearm...amazing individual.
Kinda interesting that you replied this way because you liked the HUNTED as exhibited from your other posts. Well, that's the guy who trained the actors. He's out of breath because they did several takes full out. Even a world class sprinter is out of breath after running 9.5 seconds, watch their after race interviews.

Look...I'm not commenting on his skill or Sayoc Kali. Merely on how many overweight people there are in street systems or knife fighting systems compared to sport systems. I'm commenting on the dichotomy between learning skills to save your life while simultaneously leading a lifestyle that will shorten your it. That seems crazy to me.
Who says he's not into any sport systems? Tuhon Kier has been an advocate of grappling even before the UFC was around. You've basically assumed his background incorrectly to pad your argument. Check out the other Sayoc clips and you'll note all types of physiques.
Search for Paul Vunak - Knife Defense on youtube... to all you die hard navy seal guys... learn the truth stay alive and with all your extremeties. Le CAnne - Savate is also very practical and adds distance and speed.
Most people are never going to meet a knife in their life, let alone have one to fight back, in fact on a street ecounter I'd rather not have a knife because I wouldn't want to end up in prison. Anyway, my point is this guy probably dosn't study knife combat so deeply because he's worried about getting killed, more likely so he can become one of the world leading authorities at his interest and have an unparralled understanding of the blade.
Why is it "obviously ignorant" to point out something so logical?
Being 40-50 pounds overweight (as Mr Kier obviousy is) has proven negative medical consequences to your life expectancy. Losing that weight and improving his cardio will do far more to extend Mr Kier's life than knife fighting.
Surely that makes sense?
For further views look into Matt Thornton's views on being a coach and martial artist.
Well, you probably haven't seen Tuhon Kier move then, because he is by no means unathletic. Staying fit doesn't ensure you that you will live long. Being trained in knife fighting doesn't mean you're always going to survive knife fights. One person's opinion on martial arts doesn't negate any other ways going about martial arts.
Plimp. Tuhon Tom Kier has trained directly under Tuhon Sayoc. One of few that have. Tuhon Kier had and unbelievable skill set and knowledge. If you have ever trained with Tuhon Kier then you would understand. This man would put you in your place so quick. He is the tactical side of Sayoc Kali
I'm sure Plimp is thousands of miles away hiding behind his computer screen. He would never ever dare say any of those nasty things to this teacher in his face.
If this guy was actually serious about saving his own life (as learning to knife fight would suggest) he'd lose his excess weight and thus extend his life by another 10-15 years. You gotta question the motivations here.
I went to one of his seminars last November, and looking forward to his next one in the UK sometime end of this year! trust me, this guy knows his stuff!
He's also trains Navy Seals.
You should look out for a film if you haven't seen it already called "The Hunted", if you check out the extras on the DVD it's Tom who is teaching the actors some basic knife combat.
Tom Kier is actually one of the best Knife Fighters that Sayoc Kali offer, he's a Tuhon in their organisation, and trains America's Delta Force... I think that gives him the right to be as fat as he damn well pleases. ;-)
I want it noted, he's winded and he's just talking.

Seems you have alot of issues.
raptorrochester 2 years ago
Why the hell have you been in 500 real fights?!?
musilat 2 years ago
I was a bouncer for over ten years, and through that, and the usual fights, most guys have over the course of growing up. Its most likley well over 500. But its a conservitive est.
liveblade 2 years ago
That's pretty much the only good answer you could have given! Glad you're not bouncing anymore. I've had that job. Not exactly great work.
musilat 2 years ago
I see a lot of guys here are making comments about me being out of shape, this is absolutely true. I'm way fat and dont do any cardio. I've never made any claims to being in shape. As for fighting I've been in over 500 real fights not counting the thousands of sport fights, I have never been on the losing side of a real life fight, and never fought someone in worse shape than me..so much for you fitness guys, but its not bad to be in shape, just not as important as you think.
Tuhon Tom Kier
liveblade 2 years ago 37
Tom, I have to call bullshit here. Are you honestly saying you won all 500 of your fights. Who were you fighting, children? How many of your sport fights did you lose? Im going to post this at bullshido and see what they say.
raptorrochester 2 years ago
Winning is beating the other guy into submission, or making him run away and not come back. And yes all the real fights I have had have ended like that. Because they are real life fights, not matched opponents that start by a whistle and have rules. As far as sport fights I have lost quite a few, I wrestled competively for about 20 years, and boxed and had hundreds of gym fights, some against world champions boxers, lost plenty of them. I know what it is like to lose.
liveblade 2 years ago
Tom, why are you explaining and excusing yourself to anyone? most people commenting on Youtube are losers! people who don't know shit about Sayoc Kali, knife fighting or any fighting! You have no idea who's behind the keyboard there, and I can guarantee you most of these people are teenagers! these idiots type every single fart that goes through their heads, just because the can. Debating with fools is a waste of energy. Stay awesome!
redheadelf 2 years ago 5
Also let me say, when I was bouncing I was bigger stronger and faster than almost eveyone out there, I am extremely violent when I fight, when the fight starts which is when I start it, I try and totally crush my enemy. most times he gets a straight righthand while he is still talking shit, its fast downhill from there for him, with him balled up on the ground, with me standing over him, punching his head off the pavement. We should get together sometime and talk over coffee
liveblade 2 years ago
I can't wait to have coffe with you. You fat fat fuck. I will take great pleasure in blowing the head off of such a violent cowardly bully. "bigger stronger and faster than almost everyone out there" The only reason you win any fights is because you pick on smaller slower opponents. You have much to proud of. Graceless lumbering joke of a martial artist.

I don’t doubt your skills but that’s a lot of fights you claim to have had. If that was a real statement you would be in jail or dead. And that is nothing to brag about. If it is true it means you are probably a dick looking for trouble most of the time.
edwood777 1 year ago
@edwood777 500 is a lot of fights, in the 10 years I was bouncing, in bars and nightclubs in many different places, its about 1 a week. But there were more than one a week, but whatever, doesn't really matter. The point I was making is I have had a lot of experiences fighting without rules and with rules. Always been out of shape and overweight. Never had a problem winning. Cardio is not as important as most people think, in real fights. But very important in sport fights.

Anonymity makes cowards brave.
sgtmac46 2 years ago 3
I don't care how much training a person has had, if someone learns a martial art, they should respect themself otherwise nobody else will respect him. You think he could pretty much beat all these people on here talking badly about him, but how do you know that? If I guy can't even take care of himself, how could you be so judgemental just because he's an instructor, it only means he's learned what to teach, not that he's going to be the greatest fighter out there.
AntiHero12109 2 years ago
i didnt say he was the greatest fighter because all instructors know the angelo dundee is not supposed to be able to beat muhammad - ali principal which is to say great trainers are not necessarily great fighters but who on this forum will put forth a challenge against him to back up their wise cracks?let me know when that challenge hits you-tube. keep me posted.
jamiirali1 2 years ago
I would love to openly challange him. But I'm not saying that he isn't good at all, I'm talking specifically about what everyone else is, his weight, and respecting him as an instructor. Martial arts is about every type of balance. One of my teachers was in excellent shape and was very respectful, I took him serious because he took martial arts serious. If a man is over weight, that DOES saying something about him, and thats the point I'm trying to make, not that I could "kick his ass"
AntiHero12109 2 years ago
when i said challenge im not referring to you unless you too slandered tuhon kier.also im not taking offense because im not being slandered. im just saying that you cant judge him by his size. he may have a medical condition or he doesnt care to conform to everybody elses idea of a bodydonna. mas oyama. wasnt thin like morihei uyeshiba but he could kick ass all the same.we dont know how long tuhon kier was drilling before the film was shot. he wouldnt have to fight long with his skill.
jamiirali1 2 years ago
how cant this guy not take care of himself?as for respect you should preach that to these comedians who cant offer constructive criticism. yes he probrably could beat the brakes off the "jokers" out there because mature adult martial or non-martial artist wouldnt say childish remarks. but then again consider the age group of some these people. mature m.a. who train hard and take many an ass-whipping in the kwoon, dojo, dojang ect. develop maturity even if they dont agree with your fighting art.
jamiirali1 2 years ago
Also, I'm not insulting him, or you. Martial arts is 50/50 mental and physical, sure he can do the drills, but what if he gets in a life or death situation. If he does well, he is going to get gassed right away, with all that weight, you can't run so you would have to fight, and he's getting out of breath just by showing a drill in a video that isn't even 2 minutes long! Knowing how to do something doesn't mean anything if you can't do that thing efficiantly
AntiHero12109 2 years ago
Antihero12109, I went to this guys seminar. He is the best knife fighter I have ever seen. By the way. He is huge and I don't think someone could easily hurt him. Sayoc guys all carry knives. To challenge these type of people is committing suicide. Especially, an expert like Tom. I met him once but know he would not hesitate to stab you.

chiman1000 2 years ago
not to a real knife fight you moron.
AntiHero12109 2 years ago

It is unbfuckinglievable that people will make comments about things they don't know anythying about. Like "oh well this is all theoretical". You arrogant, asinine cunt. It takes a lifetime to perfect these techniques. This system is used by some of the most elite combatants in the world. To just dismiss it is so incredibly insulting. What the fuck do you fucks know about real combat. Because you watch UFC you think you know dick about fighting? Life and death fighting?
wpditerl 2 years ago 2
The "fat guy" you are all joking about is named Tom Kier and he is so up to his neck in combat training, both with knives and guns (he is a world class marksman) that you little twerp fucks can't even comprehend. This guy trains SEALs in knife fighting. A man as trained as him doesn't need to be in shape because you would be dead with every vital artery sliced before you can fucking blink. He has like 14 years of experience with this form of combat. Show some fucking respect you ignorant fags
wpditerl 2 years ago 25
That's right, hand to hand is different than weapons fighting. In hand to hand you expect to fight a good 10mins or longer, in knife fighting its all about seconds and the person who gets the most hits wins fairly fast, though I must point out few knife fights end in death unless there is an infection.

davesujo 2 years ago
I'm a fighter, just not a prison fighter. In my opion most prisoners don't know how to fight and go on instinct. Some prisions likely have men who know how to fight but most are full of druggies who fight on a whim but have never trained a day in their life. You can't learn how to fight just by fighting, you have to think about certain techniques and test them in a safe situation, otherwise you'll screw up.
Ebuverthebicepcurler 2 years ago

Simply attempting to help your inaccurate thought process. You simple do not understand and with your attitude you never will. By the way I am Lil T

Actually, if you knows as much about martial arts as you say, you'd know that step one in a fight is avoid it if possible. that said, if sergio up there can outrun him, he's already won the fight, as he outright avoided it to begin with.
PooPoo2U 3 years ago
I didn't mean to knock sayoc kali, it's a great fighting discipline. I've trained in both and I personally prefer PT because it's a little more offense based, but that's my preference.
And as badass as Tom Kier is, the sight of a biggy tubby white guy doing such a fluid martial art is kind of silly looking. What is it with out of shape white dudes and martial arts? lol
TheGreaterGood80 3 years ago
Not to mention the heavy breathing throughout the clip...
orangemarmaladesky 3 years ago
Having preference is key and is indicative that it works best with your mind/body. Can you imagine Tom using quick feet and bodily speed in Pekiti Tersia??- this is also why he does what he does.
Does this Make Mr. Kier a poor knife man- certainly not! However- any art where split seconds determine such a level of lethality (I'm going out on a limb here)- it's good to be in the best condition one can be in.
ATLASBLADE 3 years ago
True, and then again....Chris Sayoc himself is kinda "big"
TheGreaterGood80 3 years ago
the size isn't the problem, it's the obvious fact he's out of shape (i.e. being out of breath)
when you boil it down with all martial arts aside, he's teaching knife fighting, and in knife fighting, not all the fighting can be done with a knife. his size gives him a strong advantage in the fact that his muscularity will give him more opportunities to take his opponents knife, and most likely a reach advantage, giving him the ability to strike the opponent while well out of his strike area.
PooPoo2U 3 years ago 2
I agree with you to an extent, sometimes it's much harder to disarm a knife doing drills with guys who are a lot more muscular, but speed is also a valuable thing, and this guy will be out of breath before anything else. With all martial arts you should respect your body more, being overwight has no excuses, if you want to teach others you should try to be a good role model for them, just my opinion though.
AntiHero12109 2 years ago
speed comes from muscle, not size. take for instance butterbean: big as you'll find, but with quick hands and feet.
PooPoo2U 2 years ago

kevjo66 4 years ago
Would a fight last that long? If it did then you are not training to eliminate but to prolong the threat. Bruce Lee's many street fights in real life only lasted seconds.
kidtoshio30 3 years ago
Bruce Lee was an actor not a fighter. Fighting little chinese guys in Hong Kong does not qualify one as a fighter. He would get killed fighting top guys in the UFC.
kevjo66 3 years ago
In his time where MMA or Hybrid martial arts were just being created, Bruce Lee devoted his life to the exploration of Martial arts. He expanded study of his knowledge from Kung Fu into numerous other arts such as Eskrima, Sambo, Western boxing, Aikido, kendo, and many others for the purpose of becoming the best. My point which you missed was that it is not a sport fight. How many styles were used to create the hybrid arts used in MMA?
kidtoshio30 3 years ago
You are an ignorant fool! Bruce Lee trained in many arts and developed his own. His students included Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Dan Inosanto, and others who were champion fighters. Don't speak out of your ass, stupid!

kevjo66, you are obviously a know-nothing, wannabe who probably can't wipe his own butt, nevermind practice martial arts. There are countless numbers of MMA, Pride, UFC, Shooto and other champions who have studied or are influenced by Bruce Lee's teachings and methods.
Go back to your sandbox and stop trying to pretend you have any real knowledge regarding martial arts.
pqnguyen 3 years ago
i think that he would end it well before a minute. real fights last seconds and feel like days. this is not for the ring Kev.
login76 3 years ago
This stuff is all theoretical. No one's gonna wait for you to feed them the knife, at least not someone who knows what he's doing. This stuff might work against average people but not against a real fighter.
kevjo66 3 years ago
i dont understand.. ru saying he is going to get gased out or that sayoc kali doesnt work?
login76 3 years ago
Your right. No one is going to wait for you to feed them the knife. When you are the guy with the knife you simply want to hit a vital target then follow up with a finishing thrust. Kinda like how MMA fighters enter, takedown, and force submission. either way the intention is to eliminate the enemy.
kidtoshio30 3 years ago
But here's the thing, how does one go about testing whether this stuff actually works under combat conditions? I just don't see a guy facing a 300 pound Samoan on the street retaining this stuff. You really don't need an art to learn how to dodge a knife thrust and wait for a opening to put yours in. Even an average guy knows the vital targets on the body.

He is the tactical side of Sayoc Kali

sumo wrestlers live life spans as long as other people. fitness defines itself broader than just weight.

Plimp... you are obviously ignorant, so just walk away before someone on here corrects you.

You should look out for a film if you haven't seen it already called "The Hunted", if you check out the extras on the DVD it's Tom who is teaching the actors some basic knife combat.

who doesn't train navy seals these days

Tom Kier is actually one of the best Knife Fighters that Sayoc Kali offer, he's a Tuhon in their organisation, and trains America's Delta Force... I think that gives him the right to be as fat as he damn well pleases. ;-)

Has he ever been in an actual knife fight?
MinMushashi 5 years ago
Of course he has been in a knife fight, that's almost as stupid as saying has a chef tried his own cooking?!.
He's good at what he does because of his experiences, not what someone has shown him.

That guy needs to do some cardio. Or carry less blades :)

I'd hate to be anyone in a knife fight ;)
