I didn't go to school with him but i saw Boobie play in 1987 V Amarillo High and in the playoffs V Amarillo Palo Duro-Bi District.....He was the real deal.....He was big and fast and had "The Moves".....even Though both Amarillo teams lost that year, it was so nice to have seen him play especially after F N L came out and brought light to his situation and West Texas Football.....I feel he would have made the pros easily before the knee..... Cheers.....El Fat Boy Texcino
to bad he did come back but he played for a very small college they he neverd played the same after it dont belive me look it up and the movie is not even fully true!
I am really wanting to see some footage of the real boobie miles. I am wondering how good he actually was. does anyone know of any that exist on youtube.
lol there is no real footage only has 1 break away run in an interview with him on the FNL dvd, but if your wondering how good he was he has a room full of letters. and its not like a few crates its a FULL room of letters. he was the real deal, unfortunately he couldnt overcome a torn acl which was 1 of the hardest things to do back then.
he had letters from every school at that time no joke. he was a great player. arrogant, but good. idk how well he would of done in the college lever, but he was a full back in hs not a tail back so he was bigger than most ppl think
lol im 20 bro i got to school at Loyola Maryland. so no i did not go to school with him. however, he was a favorite after reading the book. he was really number 35 and was the full back. you can find a lot of this online too. Chavez played TE no saftey and Billingsley was the tailback. Comer was the actual 45. oh and they lost to Dallas in i believe semi's not the finals
ya i know it was weird, but i guess it made it all fit in. he was a big guy so idk why they depicted him as a smaller guy. o well still the movie was great
@wadeccockrill - Yes, on this vid (search for): 1987 Permian Arlington James "Boobie" Miles --- now, this is when he was a junior, but naturally no footage of his exploits as a senior exist since he was injured in a scrimmage before the season even started.
alright it looks like im talking to myself lol but i was responding to certain peoples comments. idk why it didnt make my comment appear below the person's comment i responding to.
if the coaches at a college were looking at you and another player to play football(or any sport) and you were both about even. they will pick the one with better grades.
boobie was hurt during a practice, and we didn't lose to carter in the finals but in a rainstorm in austin in the semis. also, a little known fact, the uil took that state title away from carter because all their players were flunking in class.
NEW INFO! haha boobi didnt even go to any of the playoff games. in fact he quit before the season ended. if u wanna know more comment my page. and i will send u the whole story of what really happened.
i think it showed on here that he kind of quit when he took out all his stuff out of his locker, but how do you know he didnt even go to the games though
the same shit happen to me... I was a top prospect for NC State, Clemson, & UGA... I broke my leg from a illegal chop block. Now I have a metal plate in my leg. D1, D1aa, & D2 didn't want to give a me a chance so I went with D3. I tried to overdose on pain killers one time because I didn't know how to handle it. But my D3 coaches taught me how to enjoy life & we won the D3 championships. Now I am a graduate with a degree in Aviation. So yeah its hard but you gotta move on. I was 6'2 192 CB.
it was about 90% true. some major differences like chaves was a tight end, boobie was tenchically a fullback, some other stuff but it was still a good movie
nahh i would say bout 75% he got hurt in a scrimmage. they didnt make it to state. you said he was a fullback. and you said chaves was a tight end. so yeah
they both started in the backfield right?comer at halfback and billinglsey was fullback. yeah boobie even says billingsley doesnt need to worry about fumbling the ball becuase "he is just going to be blocking for boobie anyway"

college recruiters don't care how you act really. U get lookd at by if you have good grades and if you can play watever sport.
badazz1323 3 years ago
to play college football you have to have 2.4 GPA and get a 16 on the ACT i think.....grades dont matter that much
lawlzhealplz 3 years ago
thats wrong.
if the coaches at a college were looking at you and another player to play football(or any sport) and you were both about even. they will pick the one with better grades.
islandballer36 3 years ago
thats wrong.. they will pick the better athlete, they dont care how smart u are as long as you can keep above a 2.4

no, im saying if both of the athletes are EVEN IN ATHLETICS, but one is SMARTER, than they'll choose that one.

mrfizy 3 years ago
Chris Comer in the film, Don Billingsley in real life.
Unknown21714 3 years ago
