its ok. there are billions more of them. i mean its like god made everyone different and then he got to asia and hes all like "fuck it *copy, paste copy paste*"
its called settling into hover. the winds are just right to cause the rotorwash from the fwd blades to disturb the aft blades enough to lose a little lift. Nose forward and drop out of it and your fine, but he was just screwed. Probably realized it was happening too fast.
This a strange phenomenon called "Settling with power" I believe the CH-47D had L-712 Turbine engines but the damn thing still settles while at a hover. We used to simulate engine failures at 130FT AGL at Ft.Rucker,AL
@xxchinookxx If i had to guess, it was more a problem with refferences. At that point up there, there isn't much a pilot can do to catch drift in any direction immediately, especially if they get fixated on something. The crewmember (should have been in the 'rescue hatch', maybe he was @ cabin door) may have gotten fixated at the base of the ornamanent looking for placement, but didn't catch the settling either.
basically, conservatives are land ownership advocated. They talk a lot about 'national defence' but are actually only interested in land ownership, nothing else. At least some of them seem to be monarchists.
It's kind of like the pilot just made a real dip shit move. They had already unloaded the torch thing.. and it sounded like it was running fine.... It was like he was lowering his elevation to get a better look at the placement of the statue.... then wammo.... stupid mistake is made and you're DEAD... Is there any article about what really happened? Pilot error?
that's what happens when you use a fucking military helicopter for god damn decorations...and why the hell would you want to commemorate the olympic games ???
nazi germany doesnt exist anymore. and chinooks have been used for this sort of thing many times and this is one of the few accidents. it just happens
@RockApe92 There are still a few 'Skycranes' about. Those are actually 'heavy lift' helictopters, whereas a chinook is a 'medium lift' helicopter. Also the russians have one, 88 or something. It looks like an oversized blackhawk, and can sling a chinook without having to remove much more than blades and maybe engines. A chinook can lift another chinook as long as blades, engines, and 1 or 2 transmissions are removed.
That sucks.
