@bloodboy235- it would not have made sense. If a full blown Jedi master couldn't defeat another full blown master, then what makes you think a child would do better. I know anikin grows up to become a great fighter, but he hasn't been trained yet.
who thinks that what should of happened is Maul should chase Anakin while Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan tried to stop Maul and Qui-Gon gets sealed in the final battle area with Anakin and Maul then Maul kills Qui-Gon while Obi-Wan watches from behind that forcefield Maul damages the controls sealing Obi-Wan off from Maul and Anakin. Anakin scared and angry from watching Qui-Gon die in front of him fights Maul and as they duel Anakin gets better and better Obi-Wan watches Amazed then Anakin kills Maul?
Darth Maul made the same mistake every Sith makes sooner or later: he thought he was too damned powerful to lose. He let his guard down for a second and Obi-wan used the force to beat him down for it.
@mattwho81 what should of happened is Maul should chase Anakin while Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan tried to stop Maul and Qui-Gon gets sealed in the final battle area with Anakin and Maul then Maul kills Qui-Gon while Obi-Wan watches from behind that forcefield Maul damages the controls sealing Obi-Wan off from Maul and Anakin. Darth maul is an exceptional light staff weilder as the original books portrayed him to be. But with just a saber in hand. You can see his talent fully erupt. That's a part that they did a good job on. Most of the rest? CRAP
John Williams said in an interview that the music and choreography of the fight was made to seem like a dance in some sort of quasi-religious ceremony, a dance where at least one participant would likely die. Qui-Gon and Maul both missed a beat which resulted in their deaths. Personally, I didn't have a problem with the prequels, the originals were better, but I still enjoyed them (but not Jar Jar Binks), but apparently Darth Maul's entrance was the one moment most people liked.
@showbizz10 He doesn't have it. II and III were shit, and the fact that anyone other than Sidious used Lightning just diminishes them further. As it stands, however, you can tell throughout the fight that Maul is very inexperienced with the Force, which is why Obi wins in the end. It's apparent that he's better than Qui-Gonn and Obi with lightsabers, but he only won (against Qui-Gonn) because Qui-Gonn never had a chance to take a break and use the Force properly.
Darth Maul is the only lightsaber duelist (in the movies) i've seen who resorts to hand to hand combat durring a duel, and not out of despiration either, but rather out of sheer skill.
Heh. I love this fight, but I have to admit that Maul comes off looking a little derpy at the end there. He's supposed to be a highly trained, quasi-precognitive fighter with reflexes faster than a mortal man's, yet he just stands there for an entire two seconds as Obi Wan flips over his head, spins, lands, HAULS BACK, and chops him in half. I mean, I know...he was gloating, didn't think about the other saber. But still...did Obi Wan distract him with Force Constipation or something?
@TaliesinKyte MY guess is that he was distracted because he was told Obi-wan was a Padawan, and he didn't expect a Padawan to be able to do something like that..
I think how darth mual died was stupid 0:28 he takes on both of them and they are both in front and behind him and he still survives. Darth Mual could beat general greivous or Count Dooku or Assaj Ventress whenever he wants.
@7EliteCHEESE7 your wrong. The problem with a twinsaber is, that you can only fight with one blade. you only can use one to attack, because the other is in this moment on the other side of. Obi Wan and Qui Gon makes the mistake that they fight aganist both blades. when they fight only one they beat Maul easily.
@Icaraene I can tell english isn't your first language so forgive me if i'm misunderstanding you. I think in this video, Darth Maul shows a great sense of awareness in fighting two opponents at once regardless of his weapon. To be honest with any fight it doesn't matter what weapon you use but your profeciency with said weapon.
@1shishin Also another coment on Maul's knowlegded of the fight is that often he attempts to distract one of the Jedi while he concentrates on the other. Notice at the beginning of the fight how he keeps kicking, or knocking one of them back while he turns his attention to the other. This is further illustrated by the way he knocks Obi-wan off the ledge later in the fight, to concentrate on Qui-jon. Finally his use of the energy barriers at the end was briliant stategicy.
One of my favourite duels in the series. The first time I watched TPM back in 99, I thought Maul was gonna use Obi-Wan's fallen Lightsabre rather than just kick it down the shaft.
4.40 didnt really work for anakin though did it??

So why do we need to see this in 3D? What for when it's amazing in it's original 1999 theatrical release form? I will not see this in 3D

But two things that confuse me about the fights.
1) Where are they in this fight? (What's with the red doors?)
2) Why do these fights always end up in the most ridiculous places?
Especially in episode 3..
