You cannot compare the two. Read Lou Dobbs book "Exporting America". It will tell you everything, America is importing everything and producing nothing. The dollar is falling. The EU nations have high duties and are protectionist. Explain that. Look at the trade deficit. The waning strength of the US dollar is not because of outsourcing, but because of a government that just prints off money, thus faith is lost in the currency and the purchasing power of the US dollar decreases. Look up almost any economics text book and it will lean in favor of "outsourcing" or free trade. Subsidising a failing business is poor economics and that ultimately leads to a less efficient economy in which the consumer loses.

Some things are important to outsource like making toothpaste caps and when you have 24/7 call centers but the USA is outsourcing EVERYTHING now. Even all the "high tech" manufacturing is gone.
