Good man yourself and thank you so much for your video! It's so refreshing on 'youtube' once in a while when you stumble across somebody who's not just a frustrated / in-experienced kid in the wanna-be-famous bedroom, innocently butchering a solo/song. Your playing is pristine and your ability is way under-exposed on the internet my friend. Once again, thank you for sharing your feel, ear, and astounding playing on this site.It is something for all us axemen to apprerciate, good man.
Nice job dude, your the only player on you tube that knew the finger tap lick near the end of the solo to make it sound like two guitars. You are a great guitar player. I wonder, are on Acid Planet with any mixes??
Dude - awesome. But don't forget, without the conflicting bass line - that solo doesn't sound half as good. Well done. Really. No shit - well done........
@Herow93 I purchased the program Subscribe, it's a program made by a musician for musicians. It's very very useful to find out solos like this. Before I got this program I only learned solo's which had a guitar pro file on ultimate-guitar, but now I just find them out myself, it's sticks a lot better in your head as well if you do it this way!
very nice, very nice. i've watched a handful of these and i think i like yours the best because the fingering is closest to how i play it. one of the best solos ever. i've always wanted to work out a harmony line to it too, but i get part of the way and give up. i think it's a good time to revisit that idea...
Good question! It's just something that happens, I don't purposely stick it to my finger, but I've noticed myself balancing it on there a few times without realising.
@nairnloon LOL, I've seen pictures of me performing and see the same thing. You hold your pick like I do and the first joint of the index finger. I think you do get a balance there, plus the sweat seems to make picks made of acetal almost glue to you. Sometimes when playing live, and I want to fingerpick, I just put my pick against my forehead and it stays there; usually gets a few people pointing or laughing or both....
I guess someone up top here said Carlton nailed it in one take. If he did then that's just silly. It would take me a year to figure this out. Well played.
Fantastic job on this solo you nailed it perfectly and everything sounded great. If you notice Carlton is playing quite a few things, leading into and out of chords playing pentatonic/blues scale, he even arpeggiates the chords. It's an amazingly smooth and complex piece that I think some people listen to and not really think much of but there's SO much going on in that solo. Its beautiful and you played it beautifully! great cover man
@septip123 Practice. There is a video of Larry talking about how his mother would take him to guitar lessons every week for like 10 years he said. The more you learn about music and develop technique, the better you are at playing stuff like this.
Certainly one of the all time greatest guitar solos. Very difficult to do it justice. I used to listen to this over and over and eventually learned from listening. Then I got one of LCs solo albums and learned the solo from Nightcrawler which is quite possibly even better!!
Beautifully played, one of my favorite Steely songs. What scale is that you're playing over? I especially like the run on 00:14, are you variating from the original scale there at all to achieve that sound?
Hey man you nailed it! NICE!! That's some tough shit for sure!
On a side note... this solo is even more mind-blowing when you realize that Larry Carlton largely improvised it on the spot and did it in just one take!
Good job, man! Yes it is one the greatest guitar solos ever written. It was named that by one of the major guitar magazines... I can never get sick of that solo. Just so tasteful...
Love it. Just decided to have a go at this as it's one of my faves and thought I'd see who else had tried it. Nice job. You've saved me a bunch of time. Larry is most definitely a guitar playing genius! Now, how about Kid Charlemagne?
BOOOYAAAAA!! you nailed it man!! couldn't you listen to that solo forever?? does anybody like that bend he does at the end of "where did you come from"? talk about the shivers!!! man that is some tasty shit.
Great job -- that solo is brutal. One of my faves, along with the first long Blackmore solo on "Lazy."

You ever wonder how Carlton and others come up with these melodic beautiful runs? Is it a gift just given to them, or what?

@septip123 You have to learn to think like he does. Instead of thinking A major, thick C minor, and expand on that.
