@g123mm its done before the holidays and in PA the bears are donated to the Children's ward at the hospital. I assume it would be similar there as well.

Sorry but this video is of the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2006 not a unknown team in Portland. I know my Chicago Blackhawks team, not to mention the Blackhawks logo on the ice!

@brandiw60 Portland is hardly an "unknown team", been in the WHL since '76. Marian Hossa played for the Winterhawks in '97 and won the Memorial Cup. Two major championships for Hoss, both won wearing the indian head!

@xslapshot49x: Actually that is an NHL sized arena, the rose garden is where the NBA's Failblazers play, it could hold probably 18,000 for hockey if they opened the upper deck, I've been to Winterhawk games there and the bottom bowl can hold 10,000

@BAYBEEKOALA Actually the Rose Garden can hold 19,000 for Hockey with Standing Room, and Just over 11,000 in the lower bowl. I am a hughe WinterHawks fan and let me remind you without the Trail Blazers, there would be no Rose Garden. Have some pride for your city

Because they got 16,000 of them even though there were only 10,000 fans there. Try doing something like this at an LA Lakers game - you'd be lucky if fans brought 1,000 to throw onto the court.
