@civicbud Thanks for the answer, well i've bought a fender stratocaster anyways so, im happy with it. I shouldn't call myself a novice guitarist, but i don't own many guitars. I own two electric guitars, ibanez rg320pg, and a fender stratocaster american deluxe -04, and im happy with them. Now i know that a fender stratocaster was a good choice to my "guitar collection" haha =)
The only thing good about it is I don't have to carry my amps into the studio because I have a rotten back. I use to carry Twins and Super Reverbs and they basically ruined me. I think the amp that did the worst damage was the Acoustic 150 with the tall 4x12 Altec cabinet. I use to hoist that up with my two skinny arms and carry it myself. It had to be 80 to 90 lbs. AH but what a sound! Thunder with the Les Paul!
hand made fender custom shop strat? kinda funny idea. Its a bolt together guitar! so it being hand made doesn't seem to be on the same plane as a hand made les paul! although i prefer playing fender strats/teles. but a "hand made custom shop strat"? you don't need to be that skilled of a luthier to bolt and screw the parts together then bat it up a little to make it look old..... what a joke. rick people who waste money buy this crap.
imagine the Fender business model that compared the profit from making lots of vintage-design strats at a reasonable cost for everybody to only making a limited run and charging $7000 apiece -
yes, right, as you said - FenderCo. gets more money for less work
Thanks for putting up these nice demo vids - I love guitar sound, and like a lot of guys who never studied music I tend to fetishize the instruments themselves - it's great fun to witness a pro guitarist show them off
How awkward would it be to be showing off your reliced strat to someone when a guy who has the exact same model shows up behind you with the exact same scratch marks and everything. That would be fucking hilarious.
I kinda get the feeling at times that fenders "handmade" is just stripped down as far as they can to the point where the only handmade is picking up the plank and walking over to the next mechine to hit another button...
Yes! Tell him it's a John English Fender Relic. You think I'm funny? A huge great big fat guy stumbled into a bar I was gigging at, looks up at me and says, 'Play the neck!'
Are you sure this is the 64 Strat Relic Ltd.? I own one - the chocolate burst, which is one of the 3 finishes they are supposed to be in (the other 2 being white and black)....and that guitar certainly doesn't look like a chocolate burst. I'm wondering if this isn't the 60 Strat Relic Ltd....
I can see the need for them, if you are an aging musician and a legend in rock, it would look odd to wield a brand new bass. they have the Mexican strats now that are "road worn" and much less expensive, about 600 bux I think. They look like solid instruments. I have a USA strat deluxe, 04, with plenty of real life road wear.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm a big fan and have watched most of your videos. You are a very smart person and seem to know a lot about the style you play.
I watched your SG review video and a good question popped up in my head. How did a blues man like you ever decide to learn to shred? Is it for showing off or did you use to like a different style of music?
what have got here? weve got here a----(silence) xD your awesome dude

@johnhguitar Seems a bit contradictory to the opinions you expressed on the Cube in other videos.
yekshemesh4alig 6 months ago
Maybe so but for the reviews the amps ok. Looking at it through the eyes of the instrument it wants only the best and what's that?

IF only I had the money to buy this, I don't like relics tho, I would love a brand spankin new one... it sounds amazing.

hey ive alwways wondered do you ever use a pick because your picking technique is very cool.

For the first thirty years I only used a flat pick. I now bounce around between no pick, thumb pick, and flat pick......

John: You are doin' pinky bends! What,
did you catch flak??
edwsshaw1 2 years ago
They are worn because unless you are a professional musician who travels and plays gigs all the time your guitar will never look like that.
Did I hear some Albert King? :-D
Question: Did you ever learn to play with a guitar pick or did you learn playing with just your fingers?
Strat0Blues 2 years ago

An aging musician can't use a brand shiny new guitar?
I don't understand why but people like these road worn instruments. Fair enough, it's matter of taste.
