  • Excellent stuff......well played

  • 1st one is Lauras reel..:)

  • Ullinean pipes sound really different to great highland pipes and the german one's...

  • @freshD1806 yes, this is the great thing with bagpipes, every type sonds in a different way, are you from germany?

  • @SubbaSimmal Yes I am. But in germany there piping isn't sadly as popular as in Scotland or Ireland...

  • this guy is awsome!!!!

  • superb pipering - the first tune is 'the scholar' - a great tune for the pipes - the second i think is called 'hand me down the tackle' - i could be wrong though! great tunes & great piper anyway!!!

  • @66gadus It is 'Hand me down the Tackle' this guy is the best ...phenomenal tuning/ fingers/ variation/ use of regulators. One of the greats!

  • Superb playing. Amazing how easy this looks in the hands of a master.

  • Cormac hannan, GOALLLLL

  • he's an auld foot-(legend)

  • I've said this before,but flat sets have the most amazing.....and i don't mean this disrespectfully.......CHEWY sound!!

This lovely old coyne set "chews" away beautifully in the hands of the master!!

    more power to his elbow!

  • Sorry to ruin the parade, but that's a Rogge Chanter

  • Uilleann piping just doesn´t come any better than this. Yes complex ornamentation indeed, but just the job. and masterful. If you want to match this performance, then I hope for your sake that your bagpipe is really magic.

  • THAT......was so downright fantastic, I don't know what to say!!

(towards the end,I'm sure I could see fire coming off of his fingertips!!)

  • This must be incredibly difficult! I mean you have to move your arms and fingers in all different directions at the same time. Amazing!

  • best piping ever...

  • I don't know the first one but the second tune is The Pure Drop / Hand Me Down the Tackle

  • I think the first tune is a very Hannan-esque version of The Scholar. Great stuff.

  • Big up an bless, to a living master.

  • Anyone who cannot hear every note in this hornpipe set must not have any musicical ear. What a sound on those pipes! Great hands, great phrasing!

  • *some* of the notes aren't coming through on the less than ideal audio. If you look at his hands you can tell he is hitting every one though. Robbie is a master, if you have any question have a listen to his album "The Tempest" which came out this year. Wonderful piping...

  • They're reels not hornpipes.

  • hornpipes are a musical subsept of reels

  • Magicbagpipe, he usually played cleaner in the past... but, hey, those are not a "just a lot of notes": This is most COMPLEX ORNAMENTATION you´ll hear played on the pipes, and it´s perfectly fitted to tunes, if you study Robbie´s albums.

Sometimes faster, yes, but Robbie is one of the most musical irish players, expert musicologist and he used to be the president of Na Piobairi Uilleann (National Irish Association of Uilleann Pipers). Sorry, no discussion here.

  • Sorry, no fan. He is playing not very clean, just a lot of notes. Missing the music completly.

Try to play a bit slower, more expresion and play musical sentencens. Then it will be good.

  • I really can't believe my eyes. Someone just badmouthed Robbie Hannon? "Missing the music completely"?

Sir, you are a complete and total ass.

    BRILLIANT playing from Mr. Hannon.

  • Sorry, but not all people listen the same to music. I am glag you like this, but don't expect everybody likes what you like.

But drfred talks about complex ornamantation and he is right. I don't say what I hear, because you are going mad..........

  • No one asked you to like it but that is not the point you were making first time round. His playing is perfect. Not a note missed even with his highly ornamental style of playing. You obviously dont know your music.

  • I'm sorry! Is this actually an argument about Uilleann pipes?? Get a life! He's a talented man at what he does. End of story.

  • Magic bagpipe, it's pontificating know-it-all's like you who ruin everything about the internet. Don't bash professional musicians just to make yourself feel better. On top of that, Robbie isn't a piper known for overloading his music with ornamentation, and even this set sounds simple compared to some others he's performed. I enjoy his music, envy his talent and cheer on his hard earned skill. Bravo, Robbie! And piss off, magicbagpipe!

  • I can't believe my eyes, either!

How dare you, you jerk? Robbie Hannan is far more capable of making music out of any bagpipe, magic or not, than you'll ever be.

Until you can match the quality of the music in this video, keep your mouth shut.

  • Nice! What tune is that?

  • Best piper ever, superb chanter work. Look for Robbie Hannon here in the tube.
