I would like to point out that John Mackey still has this recording as the recording to listen to on his website. :)
As a former Poteet Pirate Band member, I don't think anyone is allowed to argue. I was there when he said we were the best band to perform it thus far.
I play the trombone too and i really like the solo. its really exciting for me to hear this because our school is going to play this piece and I'm going to have a shot at some solos.
@snowhunter2112 indeed :D i play trumpet, and our band did this. i was the only one on first part, and i think i did a great job. I'm from Commerce, TX :D
this is such a sweet song. we just started to actually read it a bit yesterday but today we listened to the recording during band and then tried playing it. it's so sweet. i'm excited.
Awesome. Grats to the eng horn player too. I loved it. My highschool is just starting to read it and we all agree you have one of the greatest orchestral versions other than the original with just strings and the djembe. Trumpets rule. :P
god i wish i had our recording of this cause it was pretty bad ass even for our symphonic band at our high school. but man i just for some reason dont like the trombone thing in the middle when its the part with the glisses down in the lower octive... that about it besides the ballance between the trumpets and everything else.... pretty good
Gotta agree with spikgame on this one... I played this piece with my high school band two years ago, and Mr. Mackey told us we, and this is a direct quote that make my director crack up, "totally kicked ass" at it, and so I think I have every right to say this this was very well performed. This is worthy of the national stage, really. Has this band ever auditioned for Bands of America? I went twice with my high school... it's a great experience ;)
When a band has success like Poteet does, it is inevitable that there will be many people out there who will put hate comments (mostly out of jealousy) on anything they do. They will sit there find everything they can find wrong about a performance or a song. So people from Poteet I urge you to ignore some poeple's immature comments and just let them feel bad about themselves.
wow, you all just saved me a ton of money: i dont have to buy ambien anymore. You all took it so slowly! It lacked any hint of pop or zest, though i applaud your solo trombone player. And i'll give you that your band has good...er, balance, but even in a piece as exhilarating as this, the only thing that kept me awake was that horror that might have been called a saxaphone entrance. A quick note, it should NOT resemble the deathcries of a dismembered farm-animal. That was sheet music holocaust
so don't waste your time sending me anything cuz i honestly don't care who can play one song better, i enjoyed my back to back uil marching championships and tmea state honor band. but thats just me =]
congrats it's just a song. i honestly don't even care any more i just graduated so i have nothing to compete for but if your going to diss us and saying we are bad then your wrong cuz we were the recording for his site if not the current recording of his site, obviously he loved it too right, he put it on his website, hes a professional so therefore both of our bands our good besides i posted this video 4 months ago a lot can change in 4 months you do know from time to time he switches them up
Go to Mackey's website. Obviously he LOVED it. We're his recording for Strange Humors. I doubt we sucked. HE'S a professional. HE wrote the music. HE said we were amazing AND we're on his website.
wow your smart im not in color guard. i just go to parties with ppl that are. and i'd say when i get a copy of me senior years comp Cd i'll show you a band that can play it better.
i love this piece! we just started it at my high school and i love it! as a trumpet player, i love all of the loud and flutter tonguing parts! its just a fun piece!
WOW!!! I am a huge fan of this song and you guys did awesome!! We are playing this at Klein collins in Spring, TX but your band sounded amazing. Maybe even better than Baylor? :)
Hehe nice guys! I have to play this for a contest and I play clarinet... And I'm in honors band... In middle school. WELL WISH ME LUCK!!
